Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and sixty-third! The winner of the "That's it for me, guys." poll were kinotherapy (left) and ziolang (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... This challenge by fluffy was lit, so I'm copying it. You won't be designing the same cards since it's random, but I'll still add twists so that this isn't just complete laziness. Will these changes improve the challenge or ruin it? Let's find out. To start this challenge, you'll need to somehow generate random numbers. Dice are known for being well suited to this, but I will personally just use a service like rolz.org as recommended by shifty in the previous thread. - Roll a number from 1-8. This will decide your card's type.
- Artifact (non-creature)
- Creature (non-artifact)
- Artifact creature
- Enchantment
- Instant
- Land
- Sorcery
- Planeswalker
- For each color, one by one, roll a number from 1-3. On a 3, add this color to your card's identity. If you're designing an artifact or artifact creature, you may skip this step.
(e.g. I roll 2, 3, 3, 1, 2. Going by WUBRG order, my card must be .)
Note that this is color identity rather than just color, i.e. the colors in in cost + its rules text. If you're designing a land, it represents the colors your card produces. If you rolled four colors, you may reroll, because fuck that.
- Roll a number between 1-7. This decides your card's converted mana cost. If you're designing a land, skip this step.
On a 7, you may instead choose any CMC greater than 7. (Yes, that means you can design a CMC 63 card, but you wouldn't normally do that anyway, right...?) If you roll lower than your color count (e.g. CMC 2 on a card), then you may reroll.
- Roll a number between 1-4. This decides your card's rarity.
If you're designing a planeswalker, you don't have to skip this step, but War of the Sparks doing it doesn't make me any more likely to vote for your uncommon planeswalker.
Note: Normally, when a CotW challenge repeats itself, I add a restriction to not re-use your previous entry again. While I know the chances of one's previous entry to even be eligible again are extremely slim in this instance, I'm doing this again – but given the circumstance you might want to consider playing the lottery as it seems to be your lucky week ~Daij_Djan To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Forgot to record my actual rolls, but I'm doing a WR 5 cmc creature at common...woo |D (Boros is one of my least favorite color combos) Edit: Upon a quick search, only one other card fits this description. Looks like Garrison Sergeant is getting a friend XD I tried to go a different way with it, since I'm not a big Boros fan. I figure with Jund being BRG, and Naya being RGW, the dragons probably made it over at some point. And if anyone could quell the rage of Jund's dragons ( without brainwashing them), it would be the people of Naya. I tried to downplay the actual creature as much as I could to make room at that CMC and at common for two 2/2 fliers with dragon's breath, but I'm pretty sure that's the smallest dragon token we already have

Let's rolllllllllll 1) 4 (Enchantment) 2) 1, 2, 2, 3, 1 ( ) 3) 6 (6 CMC) 4) 1 (Common) A common 6 mana red enchantment. So close to getting to design one of those unplayable question marks they put in every set. At least I could reprint Lightning Diadem...?

{My Rolls} 1. 8 2. 1, 3, 3, 2, 2 3. 2 4. N/A
So, we have a Dimir planeswalker with converted mana cost 2 (not really trying to make a non-mythic planeswalker so we're gonna skip that last step). This is gonna be weird. Entry to come! EDIT: They Have Arrived

Power Short Instant Split second (As long as this spell is on the stack, players can’t cast spells or activate abilities that aren’t mana abilities.)Tap all lands target player controls and empty his or her mana pool.

My rolls: Type:
6 -- Land
Colors: 1 -- Not white 1 -- Not blue 2 -- Not Black 3 -- Red 3 -- Green CMC: N/A
Rarity: 4 -- Mythic Rare
Here is my idea. A new take on a city of traitors-esque land, something that requires a sacrifice. It is a magic's take on the classic throwing a virgin into the volcano: Yes, i know that there is templating for this type of effect (mox diamond), but that templating is terrible and clunky and misleading. So here you go:

jotting down my rolls, entry edited to this post later
1: Artifact (2: null) 3: cmc5 4: mythic
I've honestly come to believe that mythic rarity should either be abolished or else very strictly reserved for egregiously impactful designs, either in flavour, in effect (doesn't necessarily mean power: more Sublime Archangel less Lotus Cobra), or just in plain weirdness
with that in mind

Given that people here seem to hate mythics. A two drop mythic is probably not going to win, but here's my best attempt. Emrakul's Prophecy Sorcery Devoid (This card has no color.) Emrakul’s Prophecy deals 3 damage to target creature. If that creature would die this turn, exile it instead. Then create a 1/1 colorless Eldrazi creature token with, “Sacrifice this creature: Add C to your mana pool.” Whenever you cast an Eldrazi creature spell, you may return Emrakul’s Prophecy from your graveyard to your hand. {Rolls}

Jartis : You might've downplayed it a lil' too much. It's missing creature types. Might I suggest Human Shaman? Also, I'm guessing you're feeling the GoT season 8 hype...
@cyanogynist : Needs moar artist credit. Quick, b4 a mod sees it & snips!
My rolls:
4 enchantment 3 W 2 U 2 B 2 R 3 G 2 converted mana cost 3
Pollenbright Horns Enchantment--Aura Enchant nonland permanent As long as enchanted permanent is a creature, that creature has trample. Whenever enchanted permanent deals damage, you create a 1/1 green Saproling creature token.
EDIT: shiftyhomunculus: WHOOPS! Thanks for the heads-up. Fixed now.

sdfkjgh Hah, whoops. Fixed. And surprisingly...no, I don't actually care about GoT at all. I realized the similarities (mainly when I at first considered calling it "Mother of Dragons"), but didn't want to change the card after I'd realized. XD I was actually looking for angelic dragon art at first, but nothing I found fit the "righteous fury" Boros angle, so I found this, liked it, and designed around it. I added the flavor text to try to move it away from GoT a bit more
