B. O. O. 4 Building our own draft environment, but not that one. Now, those of you not on the associated Discord might not be aware of this, but there's quite a few of us who wanted to join the BOO3 project and weren't quick enough on the draw. So I'm going to be running another BOO in parallel with BOO3. I've already assembled CanterburyEgg fluffydeathbringer Fleur Neottolemo on the Discord, so if we can get a sixth then we could assign one person to each of the six color pairs in a four-color set like the acclaimed Scar City. Much as in the first few BOO drafts, each designer will be assigned a color pair/triad and skeleton, and separately design a couple dozen cards for a draft archetype in those colors, with an internally coherent mechanical and creative identity. The archetypes will then be combined into a single set to be drafted, and we'll find out how well they play together! My Crew: ) CanterburyEgg ) fluffyDeathbringer ) Icarael ) CyberChronometer ) gateways7 ) Ziolang Kino's Crew: ) aquaumisa ) Parasign ) Neottolemo ) kinotherapy ) Yoshi ) Cyanoginist

would be interesting to see how removing blue would shift its mechanics into each of the remaining colors
within this context I'll take red/white

I'm up for filling the last slot but only if none of the guys who got dropped from BOO3 want to join
Also only if the cut colour isn't green because I've done that lol (I don't mind want colours I'd get tho)

I'd like a slot, since I didn't make BOO3
EDIT: I'd also want UB in this context

I'd be interested in trying this if there's still enough room. As for color combinations... maybe UR?

I'd love any combination with white in it!

I would like to join the Fifth Color Reserve team. My favorite color pair is UR.

If we're doing pairs: BG is my preference but as long as I'm not getting WU, RW or UR I'm happy If we're doing a trio: Preference towards Jund, Sultai or Abzan. Color Omission: Putting my vote towards omitting white.

Interest. No color preferences (except maybe anything without blue =P)

If there's still space, I'm a fan of anything in Sultai but anything is fine.

I'm in.
If we're doing pairs, I'll take RW, RG, WU or UB. If trios, then I'll be fine with Mardu, Grixis or Temur. If we're omitting a color: Blue.
But honestly, I'll be fine with taking whatever's left over, just as long as I get to be part of this.

I'm currently conspiring with kinotherapy and if our plans come to fruition we have exactly enough space to accommodate everyone who's requested a spot thus far. Expect an update tomorrow.

So, since there's twelve people interested, kinotherapy and I have decided to divide B. O. O. 4 into two different Scar City-style four-color sets. I'll be leading a nonblue set with CanterburyEgg , fluffydeathbringer , Icarael , gateways7 , and ziolang . The rest of you will be working with kinotherapy on a nonwhite set; they'll post soon with the details (which may or may not be the same as what I'm doing). Each of us will design twelve commons, ten uncommons, six rares, and two mythics with color identities inside our color pair, though the mythics have rather more freedom in colors; feel free to design a four-color or tricolor mythic if you want. Manafixing will be supplied by a common dual-land cycle, an uncommon mana-rock cycle, and a rare dual-land cycle to be supplied (by me?) later, so you don't need to worry about including it yourself. The default split of commons is five in each color and two multicolored or colorless; four uncommons in each color, an arcun, and another multicolored or colorless card; and two rares in each color and two multicolored or colorless rares, but you can feel free to adjust the number of gold and colorless cards as needed as long as the cards are color-balanced (Scar City has two-thirds of its uncommons as multicolored cards, for example). Remember that your cards are a little look into a world with no blue. Think about how that affects your setting, but also about how it affects the mechanics. Without blue, card flow is scarce, damage is harder to get over a stalled board, tools to manipulate the pace of the game are limited, and powerful instants and sorceries are hard to answer. Yet, as the linked cards show, all of these gaps can be filled within the color pie, so think about how you can do that, and how that'll inform your mechanical theme. I think we should aim for a Modern power level, but if you all want to overrule me and target something else instead we can discuss that. You have two weeks. Good luck.

The details
Each of us will design 30 cards within our designated two colors (or colorless!): 12 common, 10 uncommon, 6 rare, and 2 mythic. I'll talk about multicolor cards a bit later, but in general make sure to keep your cards color-balanced (for example, 6 commons of each color; 4 uncommons of each colour and 2 gold uncommons etc) though you can go hog wild with the two mythics. You can make lands at any rarity, which will be included as colorless, but don't make dual lands e.g. Foul Orchard as we can decide upon those as a cycle and add them separately. You're encouraged, but not required, to design a mechanic for your miniset. Regardless of whether you dor or not, you definitely ought to have a mechanical theme that ties your set together. Try to pick a theme that functions well in limited; I would advise against using two or more non-evergreen mechanics. Oops no whiteRemember that these minisets exist in a world where doesn't exist. Flavourfully, this is up to interpretation; you have total flavour freedom over your miniset, after all. Mechanically though there's a few things to bear in mind: unique strengths won't exist, such as white weenie strategies, and its mechanics will belong solely to the colors that it shares those mechanics with. For example, is now the only color that can reliably deal with enchantments, so you might not want to make your non-aura enchantments too strong if you have any. In the absence of , you may want to try incorporating white mechanics, such as exile-based removal or tapped-creature removal in , or anthems in , in a fashion that doesn't cause color breaks. If you're one of the three color pairs with , then you're in luck since it has a lot of overlap with . Things we really ought to decide quicklyIt's worth communicating as much as possible so that we don't wind up designing redundant cards or archetypes. There are also some parts I figured we ought to work out as a group, primarily how multicolored our set will be. We could go for a regular, low gold set, with just one arcun (gold, archetype-defining uncommon card) and a few at rare/mythic, or we could go full Scar City Ravnica, in which case we'd have a lot more. I think would prefer less gold this time around, though I don't mind either way as long as we're on the same page. Based on that, we can then decide cycles such as whether or not it's worth including taplands for fixing and what the rare lands should look like. Feel free to discuss the set here, or we can discuss it on the MSE Discord where I'm more active. If there's enough interest, we could make our own server to collaborate easier.

Set skelly for my group: COMMON: 5 cards of each color; 2 colorless UNCOMMON: 4 cards of each color; 1 gold; 1 colorless RARE: 2 cards of each color; 2 cards in any combination of gold or colorless MYTHIC: 2 cards , no restrictions I got the numbers completely wrong in my previous post. I'm kind of disappointed nobody pointed out that they didn't even add up to 30. "colorless" here means either a colorless artifact or a land which contains no colored mana symbols, so again you can make, say, Cavern of Souls, but you can't make River of Tears.

Alright Knights who Fight White so it's been a week, and while this thread is as good as dead I've seen promising things from everyone in my group so I think we're safely on schedule to try throwing this shit together by this time next week. While we can definitely refine our sets based on each other's feedback and how each of our cards works in the greater environment, I would quite like to try drafting the whiteless set as soon as we're done with the individual phase. I think it would be a lot of fun for our first experience of each others' minisets to be cracking packs on Planesculptors. Chaotic, maybe, but hopefully fun too. With that in mind, I'd like to receive your white-less set files on or before Tuesday (a week today), so that I can combine them and try running a draft or two on the Discord around 22:00 GMT. If you don't think you'll make this deadline, or you would like to join the draft but can't make that time, then let me know beforehand and we can rearrange. Bear in mind the sets don't need to be 100% polished for this, but I will need: - The MSE set file in its current state (not just the renders)
- The name of your miniset
- The name you'd like to be credited by (this means you, yofleulily)
- A list of colorshifted cards in your set. "Colorshift" here means any card mechanically inspired by an existing white card; it doesn't have to be literally indentical. If you don't have any then it's fine, but if you do I'm planning on watermarking them, so it would be nice to be able to spot them easily. Simply writing the original card's name or just "colorshift" in the notes would be ideal
You can get your set file to me by private message or by linking it here, I don't mind; we'll have a new thread in Showcase to post the all the minisets together once they're all done and shiny. Speaking of, here are some more details that I'd like at some point but definitely aren't an immediate priority:
- The names of 3 cards from the set that you feel represent it best, preferably one of each monocolor and one gold. Make sure to include at least one that has your keyword mechanic if you have one
- A few sentences describing the setting and mechanical theme of your set, preferably explaining the connection between them. Again, make sure to namedrop your keyword if you have one.
