Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and sixty-first challenge! The winner of the "Been Here All Along" poll were Daij_Djan (left) and kinotherapy (right) with...And the final challenge issued by one of our winners was... As you might have heard, WotC yesterday revealed uncommon Planeswalkers being a thing in the upcoming War of the Spark set. For me having lost interest in Magic for quite a while now, this really was the last straw. As such, I've decided to finally quit Magic alltogether and therefore my work here in the forum as well. Looking at my last week's CotW entry, it should come to no surprise to any of you that I have decided to instead move over to a different TCG which treats its game's flavor and mechanical integrity in a much better way: Yu-Gi-Oh. As a final parting gift, please show me once again how WotC should have done it and design a mythic version for one of the planeswalkers featured in War of the Spark not receiving a mythic card already. (As MaRo confirmed, Liliana, Gideon and Bolas will be the only three mythic planeswalkers within the set.)*drops mic* EDIT: For the record, this was obviously an april fool's joke - the challenge however is none
To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

This is my serious entry, but I'm sure I would have performed better in this contest with the joke one xdddd. {April Fools' Day Entry}War of the Spark spoiler: Mowu makes himself microscopic, get inside Bolas' anus, then becomes giant and makes Bolas explode. Wait. I may have mixed theories here.

You draw a card. : Tibalt, Painful Hedonist deals 5 damage to target opponent and 5 damage divided as you choose among himself and you. That opponent reveals his or her hand. @ temawimag : I refuse to understand what you mean @ Tesagk : There us no joke within the challenge itself, no. Tezzeret is the buy-a-box promo, which is why it's not counted as of of the 36 planeswalkers within the set. Within the set itself, there will indeed be only these three mythic planeswalkers.

A penultimate challenge comes with a penultimate response...
The Godess Reborn Serra, Angel Primarch Editor - "A better version of worship wrapped with some creature saving abilities. All hail Serra."The community has spoken:Reviewer 1 - uRzA2003- "Are you ****ing insane?" Reviewer 2 - MylitlPoni - "Get your 1990's Magic out of my game!" Reviewer 3 - DubStepRulzMyLyf - "So who the **** is Serra and why should I care?" Reviewer 4 - Spongebobfan14 - "Um, I don't get it! Totally unbalanced!" Reviewer 5 - MyPasswordIsLMFAO - "WTF is a Serra?" 5 out of 5 users agree, Serra is great! "Serra, the planeswalker of ages past has been reborn. Revived after the plots of Bolas and the fickle machinations of man. Glory be to her righteousness and purity."Legendary Planeswalker — Serra Mythic
Starting Loyalty: 4
+1: Target creature gains indestructible until end of turn.
-4: Creatures you control gain +1/+1 and indestructible until end of turn.
-6: You gain an emblem, “You cannot lose the game if you control a creature. If you would be dealt damage or lose life during any phase, at the end of that phase, sacrifice a creature.”
And to clarify your original contest rules, I can most assuredly devise that she is not a mythic in the set (unless I am completely wrong and things go horribly wrong for me over the next few weeks) and although I am pretty sure she will not be featured within the set, the rules set forth in your challenge do not preclude her as part of the full set, as it has not been released; therefore, she is fair-game in my book.
All reviewers may be factual but as of the posting of this are fictitious in nature, we just don't know. No creatures were harmed in this re-enactment of actual events. All praise be to Serra, the Goddess divine, the sole purpose, the affinity of white, the provider, and the 'all-seer'. All Copyrights are the rights of Wizards of the Coast, but could possibly be that be of Gallagher; you know the guy that smashes watermelons for a living. Yeah, that guy. I bet you thought we forgot about him. We don't know, we don't care, but it's most probably Wizards of the Coast. While Wizards of the Coast contains all the magic the gathering brand, they are not immune to parody; therefore this should be considered an act of parody. We love WotC, please don't sue us, sincerely, the "If Marvel Can Do it, Why Can't You? Foundation".

My card is a rarity upgrade of Davriel, whose book I haven't read but apparently he's like a mage who steal spells from people's minds and also has a demon worldsoul living in his own. His cards show that with the hand attack theme so I decided to focus on that. (I also added for the raw dimir card advantage which ought to be fine since he is secondary ) Davriel, Mindthief Legendary Planeswalker — Davriel At the beginning of your end step, if an opponent has fewer cards in hand than you, put a loyalty counter on Davriel, Mindthief. : Draw a card unless an opponent discards a card. : Reveal a card from your hand. Search your library for a card with the same name as that card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library. : Discard X cards, then repeat the following process three plus X times. Each opponent loses 3 life unless that player discards a card.

I apologize for the card being somewhat hard to read. It's an unfortunate side effect of using the stained glass art on an actual card. I have taken the liberty of providing a transcription: Teyo Verada, Shining Shield Legendary Planeswalker -- Teyo Creatures you control can attack as though they didn’t have defender. [+1]: Target creature you control gets +0/+1 and assigns combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power until end of turn. [-2]: Create a 0/3 white Wall creature token with defender. [-7]: Each creature you control gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is its toughness.

No one's done Ajani over here, yet. How exactly would doubling counters until the beginning of your next upkeep work?

Post by Jartis on Apr 2, 2019 21:27:44 GMT
sdfkjgh The obvious one is "This creature has 2 +1/+1 counters, now it has 4, at the beginning of my next turn it loses 2." If you do it to a Planeswalker I imagine it would be something more like "This has 5 loyalty, now it has 10, I spend 8 to ult, and then at the beginning of my next turn it loses 5 and dies."

Jartis: Ok, I can understand that; but I'm not entirely sure the rule templating would work that way, or if it did, you might need to make the spelling out absolutely horrendous. Just look at Bounty of the Hunt.

sdfkjgh Sometimes I feel like they need to just use simple text and then handle things like that through rulings, rather than trying to fit it all on the card. You gotta admit, for example, that sagas are way more complicated than the cards make them seem when you consider the adding and removing of counters outside of what the card itself does. For example, Proliferate is in WAR and will be in standard at the same time as Dominaria's sagas. They had to rule that chapter abilities don't trigger when a counter is removed, even though there are only a handful of cards in Magic's history that could actually do that, and none of them were in standard at the time. Ultimately what I'm saying is that the wording might not "work" under current rules, but that doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't. Not arguing, just my two cents ^-^

There's already a Tibalt in the competition, but I thought I'd take a look at his side. Wizards just likes his redness apparently. (Yes, "Light of Despair" is supposed to be weird. Also the art is a little goofy looking but it's what I got.)

You know, the obvious joke would have been to just recreate one of the cards exactly, with the rarity symbol changed... Since I'm a little more creative than that, I instead tried to work the existing abilities into a rebalanced and expanded card.
