We did it, fam! We found the only two people who watched that crappy-ass movie! Uh, I mean-- WHAT'S THAT OVER THERE?! *Puff of smoke* Don't you dare call Osmosis Jones crappy. That movie was formative for me. And it's got a great villain. And I still quote "What a zit... I mean, what is it?" from it. It's the typical worst of H'wood, lowest common denominator, wall-to-wall fart "jokes", that was greenlit by an executive with no creative talent of his own (and even less regard for those who have it), as a way to play it safe with a paint-by-numbers offering--the kind that makes one wonder if ai-generated scripts haven't always been a thing, AND YOU KNOW IT! Worse still, they squandered Lawrence Fishburn's talents on that role. Sure, he did admirably, but Tim Curry would've been a much better choice. Uh, I mean, no, I have no idea what you're talking about...

So, this was inspired by today's Daily Deals on Arena, as they're offering a selection of sleeves: Ferocious Pup, Watchwolf (this was the particular inspiration), Igneous Cur, Savannah Lions, Adorable Kitten, a Cat token, and one non-card sleeve. It'd be interesting to see the progression of this in real time, going from to to to , like a Savannah Lions 2.0: Powercreep Creature--Insect Vigilance, trample 3/3 If you're wondering about the typeline, I've been playing a lot of EBF5 recently.

Rumbletussler Creature--Turtle Beast Vigilance, trample, last strike (This creature deals combat damage after creatures without last strike.)
Ward , where X is Rumbletussler’s toughness. Rumbletussler gets +1/+1 for each point of damage marked on it. Rumbletussler must be blocked if able. 0/3 Emergency Quelling Instant This spell can’t be cast past your third turn of this game. Counter target spell. Battle-Hardening Instant Target creature you control gets +2/+2 until end of turn. If that creature dealt combat damage this turn, put two +1/+1 counter on it instead. Painful Tutelage Instant Kicker (You may pay an additional as you cast this spell.)
Each player draws two cards and loses 2 life. Then if this spell was kicked, each player loses an additional X life, where X is the number of cards that player has drawn this turn except for the first card they drew during their draw step. Latent Meteor Instant This spell can’t be cast before your fourth turn of this game. This spell deals 4 damage to target creature, planeswalker, or battle.

Doing this in a new post because there's a Contest that links to my previous post, and I don't want to confuse the issue. Penal Code 97 Enchantment--Law Each spell a player casts costs less to cast if that player committed no crimes this turn. Each spell a player casts costs more to cast for each crime that player has committed this turn.

So, I was thinking about legendary instants and sorceries, and that got me thinking about a slightly less restrictive version of pretty much the same design: Bring About the MEKHANE Sorcery Conduit—You control exactly fifteen nonland, nontoken artifacts. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
Exile all nonland permanents. Feral Ambush Instant Conduit—You control a 6/6 creature. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to each creature and planeswalker an opponent controls, and each battle an opponent protects. If a creature or planeswalker dealt damage this way would leave the battlefield this turn, exile it instead. Inviolability Decree Enchantment Conduit—An opponent committed three or more crimes against you since your last turn ended. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
Flash Crimes can’t be committed against you. Greater Renewal Instant Conduit—Sources an opponent controls caused you to lose X or more life this turn, where X is a quarter of your starting life total, rounded down. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
You gain life equal to your starting life total. Rage-Mad Goblin Creature--Goblin Berserker Conduit—You’ve already attacked this turn, and you will have another attack phase after this main phase. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
First strike, haste, trample, aggressor 5/5 EDIT: I can easily picture the art portraying the Goblin raging with tears streaming back from her eyes, because she's moving so fast. Why's she crying, with her weapon raised on high, about to strike? Who knows? But it certainly does engender speculation. Wisdom of the Collective Sorcery Conduit—You control seven or more non-Merfolk creatures. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
You draw cards equal to the total combined power of creatures you control. Profane Renewal Sorcery Conduit—You control a Warlock creature and you’ve sacrificed four or more nontoken creatures this turn. (This spell can’t be cast unless its conduit condition has been met.)
Return from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped each creature that you sacrificed this turn, except they’re 2/2 black Zombies in addition to their other types.

Memorial to the Nameless Artifact Creatures with no name get +1/+1 for each creature card with morph, manifest, or disguise in your graveyard and for each face-down card you own in exile. "For your downtrodden, your weeping, your prayers that went unheard." - Unknown

Three normal, one Un-: Arcane Refusal Sorcery Exile target spell, activated ability, or triggered ability. Check the typeline. No, that is not a mistake. Remember when WotC printed Johnny/Jenny cards that didn't give you everything free of charge? Remember when potentially powerful cards had hoops you had to jump through? And now a couple of cards that give you everything free of charge: Leyline of Absolute Law Enchantment--Leyline I don't know why Wizards doesn't just make Leyline a subtype. If Leyline of Absolut Law is in your sideboard, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield. Crimes can’t be committed. Leyline of Abundant Growth Enchantment--Leyline You begin the game with Leyline of Abundant Growth on the battlefield. At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, each player seeks a basic land card and puts it onto the battlefield tapped. And finally, the Un- card: Dubstep PathwayLand : Add . , : Add .

sdfkjghArcane Refusal - Can you exile abilities? Leyline of Absolute Law - Giving one thing hexproof can already be really annoying, but a game where everything has hexproof? Blocking interaction to that extent would probably be extremely unfun... not to mention the companion problem of getting this card as an extra.
These cards are based on the newest Planeswalker Game challenge by emberfire17 where you had to take a legendary creature and make a planeswalker version of them: Based on Aeon ChroniclerBased on Heliod the Radiant Dawn / Heliod the Warped EclipseBased on Kruphix god of horizonsA bit of lore on the third one: Kruphix in Theros has access to all knowledge of anyone who's ever been in Theros. In this scenario of Kruphix getting a spark and becoming a planeswalker, Kruphix would maintain this ability but applied to whatever plane he ended up in.

"Kick Me" Sign Tribal Artifact-- Flagbearer Equipment Whenever “Kick Me” Sign enters or equipped creature leaves the battlefield, choose a creature at random and attach “Kick Me” Sign to that creature. While a player is choosing targets as part of casting a spell they control or activating an ability they control, that player must choose equipped creature if able. This next one was designed in my sleep, and inspired by a recent Magic Mics where Reuben lamented that OTJ didn't have a Cowboy Hat Equipment: Cowboy Hat Artifact--Equipment Equipped creature has ward and menace. (Whenever this permanent becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .)

Because Arena's shuffler is godawful enough on lands without some assholic mill player making it worse: Homeland Remembrance Enchantment This spell can’t be countered. If Homeland Remembrance would be milled, put it onto the battlefield under its owner’s control instead. If a spell or ability controlled by a player would cause another player to mill one or more land cards, those land cards’ owner puts them onto the battlefield tapped instead.

One Last Job Sorcery Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter and a time counter on it. If it doesn't have vanishing, it gains vanishing. Been thinking about time travel mechanics and this post inspired me: messing with the game state is difficult, but why not mess with the current year? Paradox: Uses the most recent banlist/legality of your format. You start in your current year. Type II Datamining Sorcery Timewarp to 1995. (The year of the current game becomes 1995.) Then, for each nonland card currently legal in Type II (Standard) you control, draw a card. Artist of Long Whimsies Creature - Vampire Citizen ~'s power is equal to the first digit of the current year. */2 Parallel Surge Instant Choose an ongoing game in the current event. Target creature in that game gets +3/+3 until end of turn. Faithful Reconstruction Instant Choose one: - Return target permanent card from your graveyard to your hand. - Create a copy of a permanent card that doesn't exist. (Phased out permanents and ripped up cards don't exist.)Final Verdict Sorcery Target nonland permanent is removed from existence. (It's removed from the event until the end of the current event, but still treated as part of deck checks.)Quantum Petal Artifact , Remove Lotus Petal from existence: Add one mana of any color. (It's removed from the event until the end of the current event, but still treated as part of deck checks.)

Punitive Isolation Enchantment--Aura Enchant permanent Enchanted permanent can’t attack or block and its activated abilities can’t be activated unless they’re mana abilities. If an ability of enchanted permanent would add two or more mana, that ability adds one mana instead. Enchanted permanent loses all triggered abilities and can’t have or gain triggered abilities.

Lex Tallis, Oversheriff Legendary Creature--Shapeshifter Cleric Soldier Vigilance, reach, lifelink You can’t commit crimes. Playing with some more ideas based on Chronobruiser design: Chronobruiser Creature--Beast When you cast Chronobruiser, look at the next eight turns of this game. If you can deterministically win this game during any of those turns, Chronobruiser enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it. Trample 2/2 That's the theoretical idea, since MTG "can" be determinstic, but that's not practical in a game setting, so here's a more realistic take: Chronobruiser Creature--Beast When you cast Chronobruiser, predict 3. (Copy the game state to a simulation program and have two other players it out.) If you win during the prediction, Chronobruiser enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it. Trample 2/2 This really means "Copy the game state into MTG Forge and have two AIs duke it out", or "Copy the game state to Cockatrice and have two other players play it out.", each with their own individual but more technically doable than the first idea. I changed the number of lookahead turns from 8 to 3 for sanity's sake - realistically the number shouldn't ever go beyond the 1-3 range. An even simpler but probably very unfun take on the idea: Chronobruiser Creature--Beast When you cast Chronobruiser, deus ex machina 3. (Provide the game state to an AI, and ask if you will win in the next three turns.) If deux ex machina predicts your victory (It must answer yes.), Chronobruiser enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it. Trample 2/2 I feel like this might work better with some kind of extremely dystopian cyberpunk flavoring. Maybe have deus ex machina cards in Esper only, and have the struggle to not have one's lives be dictated by the machine/algorithms/etc... be an either Gruul or all-color struggle. Replace AI with "Magic engine" if that ever gets made. (Could you just say scry X, clash, or something similar? Yes, but that's boring.)

Venomous Corpse Creature--Snake Defender, deathtouch , Exile Venomous Corpse from your graveyard: Venomous Corpse deals 1 damage to target attacking creature. 1/1 I hope this works how I want; otherwise, just change the damage to straight up destroy. Dead snakes can still bite, imject venom, and kill.

Gotta say, I absolutely love you clowning on my past designs. This kind of feedback looping is all that I've ever wanted and more. Thank you. I find some of them genuinely interesting because I like to play with how far you can actually stretch Magic rules as well (even if it comes at the expense of a well designed game). Time travel-based designs in general that mess with the game flow on the level of something like a game like Achron or 5D Chess do is something I've been interested in for a very long time so I revisit these kinds of ideas every now and then when I have a moment.
