cajun No, not like this... I told her I'd be gone! There is no response.I thought it would be anybody else! Why has no one moved me?!She steps inside, and a soldier is laying on the bed.Focused Lifedrinker Creature - Vampire Soldier Lifelink Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, if it wasn't cast, exile it. Return it to the battlefield under it's owner's control at the beginning of your next upkeep. 2/2 (Depending on how you'd use it, this could be an acceptance of a gift or dealing with something else.) Focused Lifedrinker has indestructible because of Aiden of Sunspear. Orange text can't be heard by Karina.Ominous Entrance: Seems neat. Sneak attack but doesn't give it haste and you know. Conversion. 9/10 because this stuff is always begging to be busted anyway.

cajun As Karina collapses, a detective wearing a trench coat and a fedora with a cigarette in his mouth enters the abode. Ah jeeze, when did this kid get in here? This was no place for a child - he'd only gone out for a second to make some notes before cleaning up the scene. Poor guy. Must've been some kind of internal fire spell that killed him, given the burns. He walked over to her, his shoes loud against the wooden floor. He places a grizzled hand on her shoulder. She must've known him. "He's not getting up anytime soon, hun." he said gently, his voice deep and grizzled. He never was good with kids. This man... was not going to be of any help to her. He hadn't recovered enough in the spear to form yet. He didn't seem like a bad guy though, so maybe just someone's company will help her? No he had to... he was fighting back, gaining power... come on Karina, stay strong for just a little longer...
Stimulating Cigar Artifact - Clue , , sacrifice ~: Draw a card. , , sacrifice ~: Return all cards you discarded this turn to your hand. "It'll keep you up at night! Guaranteed!" Mental Break: Excuse my french, but fucking nasty combo with the call to aid. You pull that off soon enough and bam it's game. Not sure how much the symmetry affects it though, usually decks want to abuse it if they have it. 8/10.

cajunI returned to Aiden's little home - I needed to get my pot back, after all. That's when I smelled the scars, the grief, and... cigar smoke? Really? I hurried in, and saw a grizzled looking man trying - and failing - to console Karina. A quick glance at Aiden's bed showed why.Hatchlings are always so reckless.I knelt down next to Karina and put my arms around her. And I sang - softly, sweetly, gently. It was an old song - the same one my mother sang to me when my grandmother died. At the end of it, I added a verse (in a language Karina could actually understand, this time):"Aiden, Spear of the Sun Melody-Husband, Father to Rose, Heart-Family of Karina Oblay. His Soul was Sunlight, and His Strength Lay in His Love and Kindness. His Life was for Others - His Death was His Own." Still holding Karina, I addressed the man who had invaded Aiden's final resting place. "If you aren't here to pay your respects, I suggest that you come back later."...A young woman in a green cloak is holding the girl you tried so vainly to comfort. You can hear traces of venom in her voice - you aren't very welcome here.Mausoleum Palescute - Creature - Snake Deathtouch, Reach Whenever a creature dies, you may put a +1/+1 counter on target Snake you control. "Mother Hiss, take this one into your care. And if you won't, let them trouble us no more."3/2 Hanska Myemii, greatest femme fatale this side of the multiverse.

Stimulating Cigar - that's really neat, second ability potentially drop to 3? might be worth playing it safe tho. 9/10 I jump as something touches me. I left the spear at the door, stupid. "He's not getting up anytime soon, hun." My hand goes to the electric weapon I'd been outfitted with.
"Why?" I scream, trying to turn the pain to anger. "Why did you, he's, and, he was, but you... why?" Everything tumbles out into nonsense. "Why." Please wake up. "Why is he dead?"
I crumble as Hanksa pushes her way inside. "Why does this keep happening," I finally whimper at Hanska. "I think I can be happy, then everything goes wrong. I try to make things better and then... and then I make everyone sad, or angry, or, or..." Or dead.
Stranded Enchantment When Stranded enters the battlefield, target opponent reveals their hand and you choose a nonland card from it. Exile that card until you control no permanents named Stranded.
A memory from an eternity ago fell into my head. You've got this, kid.No. No I don't.

Watching Karina, joy as Hanska entered, and another pang of sadness as she had left the spear down. He knew he’d made a mistake. ——
He allowed himself to be pulled out of the scene, and once more stood before the Eternal Sun. She smiled at him.
”I...” Aiden began. “I made a mistake.”
The Eternal Sun nodded.
”And there’s no way out of it this time.”
The Eternal Sun nodded again.
Aiden sighed. Melody and Rose appeared beside him. “Very well, Eternal Sun. I offer myself to you so that in your warmth I may find peace. And whoever watches over Karina for me, and Karina herself may stay safe among the living, or living dead for Hanska.”
This was more terrifying than any Demense nightmare. —— The spear Karina had put down, in all the excitement, wiggled slightly. Three wisps of white smoke began to make their way upwards, after leaving the spear.
(Actual card responses come later.)

cajun Lady Mapi Mausoleum Palescute: Either a big thing itself or a nice snake tribal addition. Deathtouch feels a bit redundant/unnecessary? 9/10. Stranded: Seems like a cute shift on the maggot effect, though hitting two or more of these and hitting their threats and enchantment removal feels super bad. 9/10. Rolt looked in concern as she grabbed the weapon, not really wanting to hurt the kid. He knew how people could handle grief - she clearly wasn't handling it well. As another woman rushed inside and started singing to her. The arena was just as crazy as he left it. He nodded at her words - it didn't take a detective to figure out he was unwelcome. "My apologies." he said. He took his hat off and held it to his chest in respect as he turned around, looking at the spear. He saw the three pale wisps leaving it, and assumed it was the girl's weapon - though the wisps didn't make much sense yet.Hopefully you will suffice, detective.Moment of Silence Sorcery Return target nonland permanent to it's owner's hand. Draw a card. Respect for the fallen - an opportunity for rogues.(A card to respond to Hanska.) But suddenly, the three wisps were seemingly sucked back into the weapon. What the..? He picked up the spear to inspect it - maybe it would give him some answers as to how this happened. He looked at it's head and shaft, finding it surprisingly light.---Aiden felt his consciousness fading into light as he ascended. The light was bringing him and his family to their beyond. He was sad he had hurt Karina so desperately, but if he stayed, he would only hurt her more. He knew it was time to let go. He had messed up enough - perhaps he could still be respected on some level? That was, before he felt his consciousness returning to him, noticing his family again. He felt something pulling him down. Was the Eternal Sun not satisfied with him? He felt himself reenter the weapon. No, no, he had accepted the Eternal Sun's guidance, yet he was still here. Subjected to seeing his Karina break down. No... not again... ANYTHING but this! No, soldier. As long as your spirit is here, we still have a chance for our self to be restored.Ominous Return Sorcery Return target face-up exiled card you own that was exiled by target permanent you don't control to your hand. Draw a card, then discard a card. "Your work's not done until I say it is."And you can still suffer.(A card to respond to Karina. And yes, this is on Rolt's paycheck.)

He picked up the spear to inspect it - maybe it would give him some answers as to how this happened. He looked at it's head and shaft, finding it surprisingly light. "That's. Not. YOURS!" he heard behind him In a second and a blur of motion, the spear went from his hand's to the girl's, who was now pointing it at him. "Who are you and WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" Her eyes were still puffy from crying, but the fury was still evident in them. Demand Answers Sorcery Choose a nonland card name. Target player reveals their hand and discards all cards with that name. Then choose a nonland card revealed this way. That player discards that card unless they have Demand Answers deal 3 damage to them. Ominous Return - Targeting the permanent and the loot are both a bit awkward here. 7/10Lady Mapi Karina and Hanska should probably have a chat when this and Mei are wrapped up :^)

gurfafflekins , cajun : Response to Moment of Silence, defense against Demand Answers. I was just about to answer Karina - to say something to lessen her pain. And then she was out of my arms, and was holding Aiden's spear to the interloper's throat. This would. Not. Stand.
「Enough」 Silent-Heart Hanska - Creature - Vampire Cleric Flash When Silent-Heart Hanska enters the battlefield, your opponents cannot cast spells this turn. Whenever an opponent casts a noncreature spell, untap each land you control. "Let there be nothing here but the silence of the woods."2/4 "This is not the time or place for hurting people. Especially since-" I conspicuously didn't take a breath. Explaining to an angry, grieving little girl that you were the one who ripped her father's throat out (with the best intentions, mind you) was going to be tricky. I walked over to Karina and put my hand on her back.
"Look, there's something I need to tell you about Aiden - not here, and not now. But I'll tell you this - you never made Aiden sad or angry. The only thing you've ever made him is proud."
...
Hanska isn't going to eat you. Please, keep telling yourself that.Moment of Silence is too cheap for an indiscriminate bounce spell that always grabs you an extra card, even at Sorcery speed. It should cost at least , if not . I'm going to have to give you a 6/10 for this.

Lady Mapi cajun Demand Answers: Browbeat discard is neat, but potentially discarding at minimum two cards for two mana is scary, if not more cards. 7/10. Silent-Heart Hanska: I know I don't rate it because it's a defense, but I like this card very much. ...The detective knew he made a mistake, as soon as she shouted at him and pointed the weapon to him, in the flash of an eye. "Woah, easy, easy!" he said "Don't do anything rash." Didn't know they came this young."Who are you and WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?"He put his hands up. Today was not the one day he should've forgotten his stasis dingus - The only other thing he had was a revolver, and he wasn't going to shoot the kid. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, the venomous dame opened her own. Something seemed off about her 'sides from the poison-laced words, and she didn't take a breath - and she definitely knew what happened here. But he had bigger things to worry about. "I'm sorry, kid. I don't know what happened to him, but I didn't kill him. Don't even know him." was all he said as he kept his hands up with the cigarette still in his mouth, though he started thinking of just how fast he could react to get back to Ravnica, preparing the motions in his head just in case.
Illusionary Distraction Instant If a spell or activated ability an opponent controls would cause you to reveal your hand, you may pay and discard ~. If you do, counter that spell or ability. Exile target creature, then return it to the battlefield under it's owner's control. "Hey, look over here! Plenty of gold and dancers!"
(The wording is terrible, but it's what I got. I'll take the 0 for this one.) (First ability to deal with Karina, second to enhance Hanska.) Well, he had learned some important factors about the case so far: The dead man's name was Aiden, the spear was probably his before he gave it to the girl, and the venomous skirt knew more than she let on.

Hanska's words seemed to soften her eyes, but she holds her ground. The spear doesn't move. She's too focused on the stranger to notice Hanska's lack of breathing. "Then what are you doing here? Why are you in my house?" Her questions seemed to have faded from demands to pleas for answers. Desperate Plea Sorcery Choose a card name. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card with the chosen name. If you do, put that card into your hand, exile the rest, then you lose life equal to the number of cards exiled this way. Otherwise, shuffle your library.
Compare... Diabolic Tutor maybe? feels a smidge dicey at two but awful at three so here we go Lady Mapi Silent-Heart Hanska - bb-wise flash feels a bit awk here since neither trigger would help if cast in response to the demand. untap is a bit concerning but might be fine for the colors? 4/5gurfafflekins Illusionary Distraction - broken wording is broken yea. Equinox gives you enough of a precedent but generally we don't go for these anymore :^) intended effect is nice tho 8/10

cajun I sighed. "I'm trying to figure out how he... how this happened." people, especially dames and children, didn't seem to like the word "died". "That's all, kid. I solve crimes."Miserable Truth Sorcery Exile the top X cards of target opponent's library, where X is the number of cards that player owns in exile, then if X is 4 or less, draw two cards. "Congratulations. You found what you were looking for. What did it cost you?" - Haloster to Rolt Her house? What a bing. No second bed, and the first one was still obviously for the dead man - even if she had stayed here, it obviously wasn't a permanent room and board. Still, wasn't in his best interest to point that out. Nor was it a good idea to mention the other woman seemed to know much more than he did.Desperate Plea: Both and have tutors that don't reveal, though has a downside so this could be considered that. I enjoy the flavor, but it just doesn't feel like it'd see that much play except for possibly. Wording's kinda weird - it's not a may but has the if you don't thing, but that makes sense because stuff that prevents things from happening. I don't really know how to rate this. 8/10. Translations: a bing - a crazy person Haloster - It's a name, it's Rolt's rival detective from his home plane

She planted the spear and leaned on it like the soldier had so many times before. "He told me he'd be back." she walked away using the spear to steady herself. If he lied about that...
What else did he lie about? Miserable Truth - ow that ft. the divination alt mode is okay, think i'd suggest making it a modal that mills equal to cards in exile or cards in grave tho? While this isn't terribly useful to most places, looks like it'd be a kick in the teeth in the right place. 8/10(and then she wanders back to 7ci for the meeting with Hannah) (ame, she'll be stopping in before long )

Rixos approaches Rolt short after their first encounter (this can happen whenever it suits best to you agenda) . "Hi there, Mr Rolt. And some alcohol. But I don't know if that's legal, so, if you are interested we'd better keep it as a secret." Secret Offer: Instant speed Sign in Blood but bumped up in rarity and with double color density, and gives an opponent an opportunity to draw. 8/10, without flavor aspects - I gotta say, you're real good at figuring out how to make a card feel like a merchant interaction. Take a 10/10, on me.

(Okus +3, before the thing with Mei) A middle aged woman approaches the detective. Her chest is bound up in bandages, but she doesn't seem to be held back by any wound that would require them. "Detective? Rolt," she only half asked. "I am Karina's..." she hesitated. What am I to her, really? "I am... helping Karina. The adopted daughter of the late Aiden. I would like to arrange a funeral, when you are finished with... whatever it is you might need the body for." Uneasy Request Sorcery Any player may discard three cards. cajun I looked at the bandaged dame walking up to me. She walked oddly freely for someone so injured. "The one and only. Got something for me?" I asked. Karina... Karina... oh right, the girl. I nodded. What she said lined up. "He's yours to put to rest. I cast a little spell to prevent too much decay - should wear off in a couple days so his body can be at a natural peace." I sighed, taking my hat off to respect the dead. "It's always the good ones who die before their time, huh?" I asked, unscrewing a flask and taking a swig. "A drink?" I asked, offering it to her.--The detective seems like he solved this one pretty quick for always carrying that damn flask. Maybe a little too quick, even for someone with his skill. (Taking inspiration from amechra's style with writing on this one.) Acceptance Instant As an additional cost to cast ~, discard your hand. At the beginning of the next end step, draw cards equal to the number of cards you discarded this turn. "It took a while, but... he's gone. Not much I can do about it now except carry his memory."

"I'm sure both of you remember the demon attack from, oh, a few weeks ago. Well, the demon hurt Aiden badly. Really badly. I got there just in time to save him, but..."And now you will know the story of that pathetic soldier, Skylar. So the dame did know more than she let on. And demons... poor sap. At least he probably went out fighting. "I had to use some of my strongest magic to heal him. And it wasn't enough. I went to meet him a few days later, and his chest was filled with burning pain - he was dying, and there was nothing I could do. So I gave him a choice - I could kill him peacefully and painlessly, or I could give him back his strength... for a little bit." then, a sigh. "He told me about how much he missed his family, and how it would probably be for the best if he died. Then he looked me in the eyes and told me that he couldn't - he had to be there for you for as long as possible. So I did what I could."
So she tried to heal him. Well, I guess that answers a lot of questions. As I was about to turn off the device, I stopped listening. I got what I needed - at least, until I heard another voice....Hi. I sat back down at my desk, having found my old office in tatters from the last time I was here. Paper everywhere, liquor spilled on the carpet, putrid smell. "Why? Why didn't you tell me? About... about anything? I wouldn't have left you."
"You knew and you lied to me about it. I guess I was right. When you found out about the hat, you didn't want me anymore." That hat was a curious one. If only we had more time to observe him."The hat"? What hat? Something tells me this sap wouldn't have had an argument about fashion."The only regret I have about you being possessed by a hat was that I didn't get to meet the real you sooner."Ah, so she was possessed... by a hat? I'd have to ask the 7's about that later."I... I didn't want to see you upset, or sad, or..." a pause. "...You're right. I'm not going to make any more excuses, Karina. I did a horrible, horrible thing. I left you without proper parting words. Without even considering how you might actually feel." another pause. "I don't have the words to describe how awful I feel. All I can say is I'm sorry. It's all I have."
Sorry's not really gonna cut it in the long run. Kid'll probably accept it for now, though."I just needed to know the truth. Secrets keep getting me hurt."
You and me both, kid.You don't even know the HALF of it."Even in the darkest of times, you helped me find a light. I think it's time to find yours." How touching. A little sickening, but at least his spirit went out with a bit of dignity. From the sounds of it, his first death wasn't exactly wonderful.
I stood up, snapping my fingers. The bug worked perfectly - just as advertised. As I snapped, Hanska or the kids may not hear it, but a small ping sound came from the still teapot, as the bug reappeared in my hand. We appreciate your cleverness, detective, but it may be your very own downfall."Well, that was surprisingly easy. Need some follow-up questions with that venom-dame, and this case is as good as shut."I took out a small book, leather-bound, in black, and flicked through it until I reached about halfway through it. The first half was filled with the bings I'd met my first go-around - Yuriel, Kogai, Rowen Lazul, Nogg... I missed Nogg, honestly. I started to scribble notes down, under a section I'd already written under - labelled "Karina". Next page was "Aiden", followed by others on the other pages.cajun Lady Mapi (this sorta pertains to both of you so here ya go) Rolt has spent 100 valor to unlock multicolor level !

cyberchronometer I looked over to the dame as she approached. I smirked and nodded. "What can I say, no Vivien or Yuriel to keep the reigns on me, been the first time in a while I get to do my kind of investigations." I said, smiling. "Well, I've cracked Aiden's case wide open. Bad news is, it's probably got nothing to do with the hungry one. Unless it's got some sort of connection to a demon that showed up on the arena before hand, but something tells me this demon doesn't exactly specialize in subtlety." Especially not if it tried to kill him directly. I pulled out a cigarette and a lighter, lighting it.(She may or may not know who Vivien and Yuriel are - in easy terms, partners. (Like, detective partners, not romantic partners.)) Rusty Lighter Artifact - Clue Whenever you exile a card from the top of your library, add . , sacrifice ~: Exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card. Add . , sacrifice ~: Draw a card. "Keeps my cigarette lit - and keeps my cases from going cold."
Kauriga, Loose Cannon: +1 is solid. -1 feels a little weird, but also solid. -7 feels pretty specific, and could probably afford to be -6 or -5 if pushing it a little? 9/10.

gurfafflekins — Rusty Lighter: I'm afraid this needs to be "one or more" because of the existence of cards like Possibility Storm. Cute design, though. 8/10"Too bad. And you're right about the demon, Malextros; this isn't his MO. I'm going—" She's abruptly cut off by the arrival of Severin, unslinging some kind of impractically large cannon from his back. It sparks wildly as he points it in the general direction of Rolt's head. Eyes wild, he shouts, "Hat on the ground, now!"Severin, Mad Unhatter Legendary Planeswalker — Severin : Create an artifact token named Tenuous Connection with "2, Sacrifice this: Exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn." : Destroy target artifact. If it's attached to a creature, Severin, Mad Unhatter deals 3 damage to that creature. : Severin, Mad Unhatter deals X damage to target opponent and each creature that player controls, where X is 3 plus the number of artifacts you control.
