Common #9 Study the Stones Sorcery Establish (If you control more lands than cards in your hand, you become established for the rest of the game.) If you are established, scry 2. Draw two cards. "Ancient foundations prove good grounds for future construction, in research and in life."

ameisenmeister - I just want to say this keyword feels really clever and more intuitive than City's Blessing in some aspects. Nice design. Common #10Commune with the Cliffs Instant - Arcane Target creature explores. (Reveal the top card of your library. Put that card into your hand if it’s a land. Otherwise, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature, then put the card back or put it into your graveyard.)"On the most quiet of days, when not a piece of snow or rock falls, they whisper to me: 'Climb higher'." - Morduka, Been-Rus CartographerI wanted to pick a keyword that complimented Establish well to round things out; initially I tried creature designs but most of the generic ones were done in Ixalan already. Reflavoring it as a combat trick/pseudo cantrip helped make it feel fresh and conveniently let me also make it part of an implied cycle with xylophone 's Crack the Earth reprint.

Uncommon #2: Bulwark Giant
Creature - Giant Cleric Establish (If you control more lands than cards in your hand, you become established for the rest of the game.) As long as you're established, spells that target you cost an additional to cast. Some of the most well-established human settlements are built upon foundations driven into cliffs by giants decades earlier. 3/4

Uncommon #3 Overwork Enchantment - Aura Enchant land Whenever you tap enchanted land for mana, add an additional two mana of any color produced, then put an overwork counter on it. When enchanted land has 3 overwork counters on it, sacrifice it. I realized the pack doesn't have many green cards yet. Plays into the unstable theme.

Rare! Tectonic Reawakening Enchantment You may play land cards from your graveyard. , Sacrifice a land: Tectonic Reawakening deals 2 damage to any target. Cartographers of Berg have long since abandoned the idea of maps.{Render}

I loved how you guys played with the land theme, and established is a phenomenal ascend-esque ability. Sorry, but I'm currently swamped with patients and administrative work so I can't make a full review of each card, but the winner is: {Spoiler} ameisenmeister with his simple and elegant Cliffhaven Halberdier. Runner-up is Scribbl with his Tectonic Reawakening, an enchantment that plays well with the land LTB mechanic that is featured in some of the cards. But really, well done, guys. It was such a cohesive pack.

Grab your swimming trunks and your snorkels because we are going to visit Moahonu, the bottomless depth
In a world which is 97%+ covered by water, unique creatures and challenges await. From the amphibious lurkers that hide in the shallow waters around the sandbanks over the castles of the merfolk tribes to the titanic monsters of the deep, Moahonu is a plane like no else. Art by m-hugo, Pablo D.Hidalgo & Jonas Akerlund respectively
The life on Moahonu is highly influenced by the powerful currents that swirl and turn the waters, but lately the tide augurs noticed an ever increasing shift in the currents' directions and intensity. Something from the deepest depths, where no merfolk has ever set fin into, shakes the order of their world. Leviathans from the crevasses are sighted more frequently in sea levels they don't belong. Are they fleeing from something or is it just their appetite that drives them?
Here are some cards to get you rolling:
And here are some things you should consider when designing cards:
- merfolk everywhere; Merfolk fill the role humans have on most other planes, they exist in all five colors forming different tribes/kingdoms. Red merfolk? No problem! - ...but not just merfolk; feel free to come up with other sentient races for the plane. Providing artwork is, of course, appreciated.
- focus on sea monsters; the monsters of the sea are the selling point of the set so the creature count can be a bit higher than in your average set - the mechanic salvage is a main mechanic of the set and therefore the bottom of your library is no place where cards can stay forever. For example, a card like Condemn would probably be garbage removal in this set. - nothing flies in the ocean; the keyword flying is totally absent from the set. So feel free to come up with a substitute form of evasion for and , may it be keyworded or not.
Have fun!

DandânJust kidding. Let's try to see what replaces flying. Common #1:Undercurrent Raider Creature - Merfolk Rogue Dive 2 (This creature can’t be blocked by creatures with power 2 or greater.)2/2 "You don't need to be an augur to swim under a leviathan's belly."Compare Phantom Warrior. Note that you are intended to be able to block with a 1 power creature and follow up with a combat trick. In an environment where big Leviathans and power boosting are both to be expected I imagine this keyword having both an impact on Draft picks and general combat interactions.

Common #2 Abyssal Returned Creature - Merfolk Zombie Whenever Abyssal Returned dies, put it on the bottom of its owner's library. The abyss does not always leave a soul to rest.2/2 Limited sac-fodder, and in an environment with reverse-scry, can be potentially easily played again and again.

The obvious opt variant for common #3: Deeper Still Instant Salvage 1. (Look at the bottom card of your library. Put it on the top of your library or into your graveyard.)
Draw a card. Some secrets best remain submerged.
Attachment DeletedIf the bottom of your library will have other interactions, you might want to make Salvage a "may" so you can keep cards there.

If the bottom of your library will have other interactions, you might want to make Salvage a "may" so you can keep cards there. I didn‘t intend for the set to have bottom-of-library interactions besides salvage. Feel free to come up with those unless they‘re stepping on salvage‘s toes.

Seabed Predator Creature — Fish First strike ~ has hexproof as long as it's untapped. "Beware of floor." —Murkwoods perimeter signage3/2 Alludes to those predatory fish that camouflage themselves against the muddy sea floor then strike quickly when prey wander too close. Wondered if I should pair with the usual colors for first strike, but seemed more flavorful despite only being tertiary on first strike, as the success of the strike comes from deception/fighting dirty rather than the disciplined training of or the innate swiftness of .

Multicolors at common, huh? Might need some mana fixing: Jadescale Cloak Enchantment - Aura ( #10) Enchant creature When ~ enters the battlefield, you gain 2 life. Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and has " : Add one mana of any color." Trusted sea druids receive armor painstakingly woven from the shed scales of the rarest reef fish.

Depths of Disdain Instant Counter target spell. Salvage 2. (To salvage 2, look at the bottom two cards of your library. You may put any number on top of your library in any order. Put the rest into your graveyard.)"The vastness of the deep pales in comparison to the vastness of my indifference."The obvious cancel variant.
