Big manga fan, so I have many potential options to pick from - some well known, others more obscure.. After some pondering, I decided to go back to the roots - because the first custom designs I ever tried (before even knowing about this forum) were in fact about an anime: Calling dibs on Neon Genesis Evangelion!

I just binge-watched the entire Code MENT series, so here you go:  I'M AT SOUP!   Enchantment  Flash Shroud, indestructible When I’M AT SOUP! enters the battlefield, exile all Equipment and all Auras with “Enchant creature” until I’M AT SOUP! leaves the battlefield, then exile up to one target nonland permanent until I’M AT SOUP! leaves the battlefield. If an Equipment or an Aura with “Enchant creature” would enter the battlefield, exile it until I’M AT SOUP! leaves the battlefield instead. At the beginning of each end step, if a player feasted four or more time this turn, sacrifice I’M AT SOUP! (A player feasts when they create or sacrifice a Food.)#ShitpostingOnTheSevens |

Note: a) I tried, but there are not many ideal screenshots/arts for something I truly want to design (I think art is key for this week's challenge). I want to design a cycle of Heist enchantment cards. But hey, this will do. (Can you guess how many Ann Takamaki fan arts, both in and out of line, are out there on ArtStation?) b) I always design cards with a certain limited environment in mind. So, you can imagine what the rest of the Phantom Thieves look like, as I've listed 3/10 of the cycle. c) Joker, the main character of Persona 5, is, as his counterparts in previous Persona games, an almost blank state. So he is hard to be realized without ludecrous number of abilities to define his color identities and such. Therefore, I choose not to design him. |

I always love to try and make fictional characters as magic cards. It is almost always such an interesting a challenge to try and show their way of fighting/them as a person, through the mechanics of magic. This being a challenge about anime/manga, it didn't take long for me to know my entry was gonna be cards based on Berserk. It is my favourite work of fiction, of all I've read, played, and watched, so I had to try and do the best I could to translate Mirua's characters to MtG. The Behelit is a concept I've had for a few months. It first started as a saga, but I weren't happy with it. So it became an artifact, and it worked a lot better that way. The second half of Casca is inspired by her leadership skills, that are seen pre-eclipse, while continuing the lifegain theme I established with the second half. As she hasn't fully recovered yet, I'm taking a guess on what her role will be. Poor, poor, Casca. I am more than open to tips if my cost balancing is off -- especially with Griffith. There isn't many eminence commanders, so it's hard to get an idea of what the cost should be, but I've tried to not make it too cheap. In case they're any other Berserk and power metal fans in here. Yes, I have beast in black playing in my ears rn. Now on to try and do Guts justice. Done. It was hard to make something that could fit golden age Guts, but I am pretty happy with what I came up with. |

The rulings for three of the Eminence commander with triggered abilities also include both circumstances. This is designed so commander player won't feel bad or be intensified to just hang out with a 99-card deck. ALSO that's probably why they haven't printed more since Edgar and Ur-Dragon is clearly busted. Turns out emblems on game start are not okay.

Thanks, forgot about it being both on battlefield and command zone. I am aware it is a busted mechanic. In the story, Griffith is extremely powerful and dangerous, so its very much on purpose. I'm trying express the primary ways he's seen in the story, as Griffith in the command zone, and Femto on the battlefield. I might look at downtuneing his eminence ability, but I'm gonna let it stay, even though eminence is broken. |

Aaaaah, so many options. I ended up narrowing it down to either Bofuri, Eminence in Shadow or Konosuba, but Konosuba had more individually clearly distinct characters in powerset, so that's what I went with. |

Fuuto Tantei recently came out, which is a stand-alone sequel to another show from around 2010 that features a pair of heroes using six elemental Gaia Memories to combine into a superhero that defends the people of Fuuto from criminal acts while uncovering the mystery of what is so important about these devices. Since Meld now exists, I decided to take a crack at properly representing them this way: My goal was to capture the team's flavor in a way that both players familiar with and not familiar with the show could appreciate: Shotaro is the more upfront investigator of the two and is usually the first to get into physical confrontations at his own expense, so he more actively investigates and 'fights' (removes) threats at the expense of being fairly fragile in his own right and having less raw evidence. Phillip is usually more inclined to sit back and tap into his direct connection to all knowledge on Earth via the Gaia Library, so he produces a steadier amount of evidence as the investigation goes on and more people are connected to a crime or ruled out of it. Phillip's powers are also the main source of how the two can transform, so it fit pretty natural to make him the one who causes the Meld to occur. Normally the Mythic gets the upper half and the Rare gets the lower half of a meld card, but if I had the ability to mess with the printing a bit, Shotaro's card back would be the upper half with the title and main art (reflecting his showmanship and dedication to the title of Kamen Rider) while Phillip's back would be the lower half with the abilities (reflecting him being the source of the powers and abilities.) Note: Shotaro costing   instead of  is intentional - I didn't want to kneecap his ability to work as a standalone Investigate commander. The requisite six Gaia Memories/mana types are instead fully covered on Phillip's ability.

Before this closes I just gotta say that there come some seriously awesome and flavour smackdowns out of this challenge. There are some of the animes and mangas that are being portrayed here, that I don't know enough about to fully appreciate the work done here, but all in all, this is so well made.
