In a clearing in the woods, the owl accompanied figure comes across a big black cat with a big sword in his back. He looks wounded, both in fur and pride, as if he just lost a honor duel. The cat is tending to his bruises, wrapping a bloodstained bandage over his left arm. He looks towards the owls, and for a brief second, his eyes gleam with hunger, a primal emotion fit for a predator. But the expression is gone in an instant, replaced by a flash of pain, as the cat tightens the loincloth around his arm. "Meowrning meowstress. I've never seen you around before. Need a tour guide?" The cat speaks in a joking tone, as if he didn't look like he just crawled from a fresh grave. "I'm Doer, the Grea..." The cat pauses for a second. "Who do I have the pleasure to meet?"Battered Warrior Creature - Cat Warrior Menace You may cast ~ from your graveyard by sacrificing a creature in addition to paying its other costs. 3/2

"Oh, poor thing. Out here in the woods, all on your own. So... helpless..." For a moment, you see a similar hungry look flash across the woman's face. "Come on. I'll get you all fixed up."Reap the Meek Instant - Revelation Exile target creature card from a graveyard. If it had mana value 3 or less, create a token that's a copy of it. Coalesce Deathtouch 2/3 Battered Warrior This card eliminates one of the main issues of recursive threats by making it be creature-neutral. However, I think it can definitely still be quite powerful (in the right deck, of course). Two of them can loop in a funny way, too. I like it! 8/10

I like it! 8/10 The cat looks wary of the woman, but he is tired enough to be willing to take the bait. "Thanks for the offer meowstress, I could really use some extra help right now." The cat opens his arms, showing a badly stitched wound crossing his torso. "I'm a professional monster hunter, you know meowstress? And I used to think that I was the best, that no dragon or demon or giant was a match for me but recently... well, you can see." Doer continues talking, trying to drag the woman into a conversation, maybe to hide the fact that the weapon that hung from his back has dissapeared from sight. "So, where do you come from, meowstres...?" The cat makes a brief pause, as if prompting the woman to introduce herself. It's always a good idea to try to make friends and more so in dire situations like this.A Pound of Flesh Sorcery As an additional cost to cast ~, sacrifice a creature. Each opponent reveals their hand. You choose up to X nonbasic cards from them, where X is the sacrificed creature's mana value. Those players discard those cards. Reap the Meek: I like this, maybe the creature having deathtouch is a bit too much, but it looks really fun to play. 9/10

"Oh, I'm sorry! How rude of me. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Cayli, and I'm so happy to meet you." Cayli smiles, and you can see the glint of sharp teeth in the shadow of her face. "What has done this to you? Was it a dragon? A baloth? Some horrible creature that creeps up behind you in the night with its many eyes and long claws and... Oh my, I got lost in thought for a moment!" She looks oddly excited by the whole situation.Seek the Forgotten Ones Sorcery - Revelation Mill four cards, then return up to one land card and up to one creature card from your graveyard to your hand. Coalesce Seek the Forgotten Ones's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control plus the number of land cards in your graveyard. */* A Pound of Flesh Wow, this is scary. Against any control deck without countermagic up, this basically rips out their whole hand. Countermagic does 2-for-1 yourself, though. This is a really cool design, but it scares me a little too much to give it full points. It might be ok, but it makes me nervous. 7/10

Doomed Wayfarer Creature - Cat Rogue When ~ dies, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. If ~ was sacrificed, put a +1/+1 counter that token. Cayli seems to realize something. Her posture shifts, and the shadows spreading around her disappear. "Oh, I'm sorry. I can be a bit frightening... but you know I'd never do something to hurt you, my dear little cat. Now, tell me more about the thing that attacked you. Maybe we can deal with it together." If you control a Horror, it also gains double strike until end of turn. (I used Sudden Reclamation as a reference for my previous card, but you're right, there's too much upside.) Doomed Wayfarer Seems great. I can't think of any problems with it. I'd love to use this card. 10/10

If a noncreature nonland card was discarded this way, put your choice of a +1/+1 counter of a lifelink counter on ~. 4/4
A Tentative Alliance: You are missing the rarity here, but it seems fine as either a common or a low powered uncommon, so 8/10

"Well, a shadow can typically be driven off by light, and ghosts tend to be dispelled by holy magic. Do you know anyone who deals in that kind of magic? I, myself, tend to work with beasts of the night, rather than against them." Cayli pauses for a moment, perhaps thinking about how much to say. "I actually came here searching for one such creature. The ground beneath Cayli's feet changes from crinkling leaves to warm sand. The sand expands out into where there was forest before. A purple coyote approaches from a distance and sits down. Its tail waves from Cayli towards itself.
Credo of the Ruler: Cygari offers a choice • Begin Your Tale by designing an instant, or • Turn Tail by designing a sorcery.
Enchantment Whenever a permanent an opponent controls becomes tapped, it doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.

Enchantment Whenever a permanent an opponent controls becomes tapped, it doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
"Who are you, that calls me so?" Cayli shifts, immediately wary. It's been quite a while since I've touched sand... Bare feet move forward slightly, and suddenly Cayli is in a different place, a long time ago. The air is hot and heavy, and the slow pulsing of what used to be the sun threatens to break apart every fiber of her being. She shakes it off, and once again the coyote sits before her. "This won't be like last time."
Cayli takes a step forward.Face Finality Instant - Revelation Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. Untap that creature. It gains hexproof until end of turn. Coalesce Trample Whenever Face Finality deals combat damage to a player, untap all lands you control. 4/4 (+ Begin your tale) Uncertain Fate This seems absolutely horrible to play against, and the fact that it hits lands makes it the kind of thing a lot of people would immediately concede against if the control deck got to turn 7. It even has a smaller mode to slow down the game to the point you can cast the full thing. However, It actually seems very balanced, as it has no way to actually win the game. Or maybe I'm just desensitized from Hullbreaker Horror. 9/10

Cayli takes a step forward.
As Cayli wanders into the sands and asks her question, the coyote stands and bounds off, quickly disappearing from sight.
In tiny burrows around the desert, little yellow eyes begin to peek out. From a few of the burrows, small, nearly fluffy desert owls jump out and into view. They cock their head at Cayli and hoot, before together they run away from her, in a different direction from the coyote.
Credo of the Ruler: Cygari offers a denial • take the Legend's Pass by designing a legendary permanent, or • take the Weary Pass by designing something else These Paths We Walk Enchantment If exactly one player would draw a card, each player draws a card instead. Mirage (You may cast this spell as though it had flash for its mirage cost. If you do, sacrifice it at the beginning of the next cleanup step.)(mirroring the draw on Begin Your Tale) Face Finality - going spicy with the instant coalesce. unfortunately i think this went a lot too spicy, as this works as both a counterspell with the hexproof, and a potential two-for-one with the untap and getting a 4/4. either one really makes the board painful and this does both. 6/10

Where are you going, you stupid fox? The sand grows hotter and hotter. Cayli's cloaked form looks almost comically out of place. Well, I'm a bit weary of this heat, but there are such beautiful creatures right there, aren't they? And it's been a while, hasn't it, my dear friends... Shadows extend from Cayli as the area around her blurs. With a flash of movement, she stands before the owls again. She opens her cloak impossibly wide, coating the poor owls in shadow, and several gleaming red eyes appear in the darkness. Eat up. Cayli's owls rush from the darkness, but one could be forgiven for not seeing them as owls anymore. The writhing masses of shadow and twisted bone descend upon the desert owls.
Now, to find that fox. Cayli turns, and several fluffy desert owls trail after her, red eyes shining as they move.
Feast of the Heartless Sorcery You may cast Feast of the Heartless from your hand as though it had flash. As an additional cost to cast Feast of the Heartless, sacrifice a creature. Draw two cards, then mill two cards. Coalesce 4/3 (Sacrificing the camel on the Weary Pass) These Paths we Walk Seems very fair. Possibly too fair. I really enjoy this card, but I think most people would just play notion thief or hullbreacher instead. 9/10
Re: Face Finality I forgot it was an instant halfway through making the card lol. Tried to fix that on this next one.

As Cayli and the murderous owl venture the sands, two angled ridges appear around them, made of a strange stone that was once white before being battered by the desert for time unknown. The ridges stretch off seemingly into infinity, disappearing on the horizon... where a purple coyote glares Cayli down.
It looks up and the air above it shimmers, revealing more of the strange stone, connecting to the two ridges and towering high enough to cast a shadow over Cayli. Whatever the thing is is rough and rounded, with a sharpened edge at the top. Or perhaps, a sharpened beak.
Regardless of what Cayli sees in the object, one thing is clear: It's falling down towards her.

She follow's the coyote's gaze upward's and freezes for a moment. "Let me out of this godsdamned desert!" Her cloak billows as she thrusts her arms upwards. Time seems to flow in slow motion as a stream of shadows flies into the air, slowly eating away at the falling rock. Time Erodes All Meaning Instant Counter target activated or triggered ability from a noncreature permanent source. If a permanent’s ability is countered this way, destroy that permanent. (Mana abilities can't be targeted). The Trial of Hunger Removal spells on lands are always a bit spooky, but this seems very safe, as it has a high cost and can be blown out with a combat trick. I enjoy the similarity to the cycle of deserts from Amonkhet block. 9/10

It was not an every day sensation, but Soumaw knew it well. The feeling of hunger, or something close to it, as close as it could be to it. The urge within its body moved it to hunt, and the need for greater power yet had it seek out prey worth the time. Owls hooted in the woods near the ruins, accompanying the twilight in announcing the coming of the night. This plane was a confusing one, with night and day being uncertainties... as was everything else. Still, a tell tale sign, typical though it might be, brought with it some welcome assurance. The unexpected always comes amidst the common, however. In a distance not far away, Soumaw spotted a somewhat familiar glow, and feeling that resonated in its spark. It rushed in the direction, climbing ruined stairs to find a faint green light emanating from a nearby tower. It knew the sensation... but it seemed far too easily found to be what Soumaw suspected. Nonetheless, it could not pass by even a remote chance that the tower's glow was, in fact, a guidestone from the prophecy.
(Consider this is a gift, I suppose)

(Consider this is a gift, I suppose) As Soumaw approaches, it sees a winged, almost angelic form silhouetted in the green glow. For a moment, there is no movement, just the steady pulse of light from inside the tower. "Well met, traveler. Why do you come to such a lonely place?" The shadows all around Soumaw elongate, and it can faintly see forms shifting within.Hold the Gate Instant Until end of turn, if a source an opponent controls would deal damage to you, mill that many cards instead. Call of the Guiding Stone I think this could be a bit less strong. As it is, it's a cheaper, instant speed regrowth if you have any artifact in the yard. I'd either add another mana or make it sorcery speed. Also, definitely not a common. Cool idea tho. 7/10

Or alternatively, even if there was no guiding stone there, then the guide could be a clue. After all, that feeling in the spark, as far Soumaw knew, was unmistakably unique to the guiding stones. Unfortunately, much as it would be convenient to interrogate the 'guardian' right here and now, communication wasn't quite Soumaw's forte. Words from the prophecy should ring some bells if silhouette was indeed related to the guardian stones, however. "Hidden... Home... Beyond touch... Distant sights... Distant paths... Meet..." Soumaw pulled back a little, eyeing the way the shadows were moving with suspicion, but nonetheless proceeding with the recitation. "To find... To be found... Lone traveler... Everywhere... A piece..."

Cool idea tho. 7/10 Nearly a one-sided fog, milling cards instead of taking damage is definitely an interesting dynamic, especially knowing how cards like Golgari Grave-Troll were often used just for self-milling purposes. So it's definitely a strong card, but at rare rarity, only working once and giving your opponent a slight degree of control, the card is overall just a pretty great design. I'll give it a 10/10.

The cat you attacked some time ago... is much more than a snack. It is the key to all that you seek. Move quickly. Those who chase you will arrive soon."
Approach of Desolation Sorcery - Revelation All creatures get -4/-4 until end of turn. Coalesce At the beginning of each opponent's end step, that player sacrifices a creature. If they can't, they lose 5 life. 6/6 Lone Journey Apart from a few syntax errors (cast no creature spells, I'm assuming the card you tutor wants to be put into hand), it's pretty interesting. A few notes: First of all, green can only tutor creatures and lands, not any card. Also, this is an almost strictly better rampant growth, which is already a pretty powerful effect that's been shied away from lately. I do really enjoy the buildaround aspect of playing no creature spells, seems like an interesting take on a ramp strategy. I'll give it a 6/10 for a cool idea but some issues with execution.

The... cat? A feline creature, could it be referring to the one that had escaped Soumaw? The 'guardian' knowing of them was unexpected, and Soumaw almost went along with those words for a moment, but something simply felt too wrong about it. What could that creature Soumaw simply happened across on a hunt have to do with what it chased after? It didn't even seem to handle a spell, let alone anything remotely approximating the mysterious guiding stones. But Soumaw couldn't be so dismissive. If the "cat" was indeed what would lead it to its goal... Then it was much more than a snack. It was imperative they be devoured, absolutely and totally, to incorporate the key into Soumaw. That being said, Soumaw wasn't about to so easily give up on a guiding stone so close by. It was almost in reach, Soumaw could almost taste it so much did it tug on the spark... Soumaw's feet and hands seemed to form into puddles on the ground, absorbing green and black mana, and small shadowy tendrils erupted all over its body as it expanded. Soumaw then roared and charged, each limb grown enormous and spawning a number of long powerful tendrils in the direction of the guiding stone.

I would probably reduce the coalesce cost, but otherwise I think the card is pretty good. I think the board-wipe effect interacting with the continuous sacrifice is an interesting bit of self-synergy on the card, though the card also feels very oppressive, which doesn't seem all that fun, but then that's more a matter of taste I suppose. I'll give the card an 8/10.

Chitters speeds through the forest near Cayli's clearing, using a complex mix of climbing, leaping, swinging and rift-making to build maximum speed. Knocking down food as he goes and catching it in his rifts, which send the supplies straight to his winter store.
Rift Transport R Instant Common Target creature can't be blocked this turn.
Conjuring Thragtusk, targeting it with my spell and attacking.

"Don't mess with me, little fox." Cayli stalks towards Cygari, and stops in her tracks.
Cygari watched with interest as Cayli worked to dissolve the rock, but ignored her demands. The dripping... and... winking? stream of shadows succeeds in eating away enough stone to prevent her from being crushed, but sand erupts into the air as the rocks crash down around her.
The sand settles over Cayli and a perhaps familiar puddle of shadows some distance from her. The puddle lights up as dozens of blue eyes open and look to the owl witch. An arm reaches out of the shadow sludge and plants itself on the ground, heaving itself upward until the entire shadow puddle has been dragged up into a large, hunched creature, still dotted with far too many eyes. Two wings flare out from its back and it pounces for Cayli.
Instant You may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield. That creature gains haste. At the beginning of the next end step, sacrifice that creature. If you do, you gain life equal to its power.
Cayli has failed to climb the steps. And now the board begins anew...
Credo of the Ruler: Cygari offers a choice• Begin Your Tale by defeating the shadow, or • Turn Tail by running for it instead. Time Erodes All Meaning - looks good 10/10
