___ Fungal ___ ___ a black, a green, and a blue [Any noncreature] [Any rarity]
______ _1/_1 ______
______ dies ______
______ draw ______
Unified Fungal-Fractal Theory A black, two green, and a blue, Enchantment
If you would put one or more -1/-1 counters on a creature, put twice that many counters on it instead. Whenever a creature dies, if it had zero toughness, you may pay 2 generic to draw a card and gain 2 life.
I liked Strixhaven, but if I had some critiques of the set, I don't feel like we saw enough interaction between the different schools. Like, in real-life, colleges collaborate with each other on projects that are too complicated for one university to do by themselves, and when you think about strixhaven as a single college with five ultra competative departments instead of as five seporate colleges, the lack of collaboration is even weirder.
So this card is what a collaboration between the schools of witherbloom (black-green), and quandrix (blue-green) might look like. Because the thing about fractals is they appear in nature all the time, and the thing about fungi is they often have fractal structures. In this card we see an attempt at unifying pragmatical fungal theory with mathematical fractal theory.

Fungal Mudreadings Enchantment When Fungal Mudreadings enters the battlefield, create two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens. Whenever a 1/1 creature dies, draw a card. The ancient art of mudreading is a secret well kept by thallid shamans.

Flash judging time: vizionarius Wins for an interesting removal/card advantage effect that scales well both in and out of Commander. 2nd place goes to Flo00 for promoting an interesting type of 'tribal' play.

Zoop A colorless
Sorcery Zoop cannot be copied As you cast spells this turn, they gain a facsimilate cost equal to their mana cost (Facimilate is an additional cost that increases by two generic mana each time its paid. When you cast a spell, copy it for each time you paid its facsimilate cost. You may choose new targets for the copies.) Until end of turn, whenever you cast a spell named Zoop, counter it. |
Facsimilate <Cost> (This cost increases by two generic mana each time its paid. When you cast this spell copy it for each time you paid its facsimilate cost You may choose new targets for the copies.)This is necessarily different from Replicate in that it increase the cost of 'replicating' by the number of times you replicate meaning you get greater diminishing returns.

{Judging} hydraheadhunter : I like the facsimilate ability and a simple card that grants it to your other spells (reminds of of Quicken for flash), but the card itself feels a little forced. I don't know why the cannot be copied or the counter part of the card is there. I guess the corner case when an opponent wanted to copy it would be taken care of (seems very niche), but casting multiples of this seems to not do anything new. Flo00 : I really like what you did with having a benefit for not choosing to do a may ability, making it into an actual choice. The effect is neat too. You also used the "you may" phrasing in an unexpected way; I like it. sorsal : This is a nice and risky card for gaining mana, best used in single-color sacrifice decks. I can already come up with some combos. You also used the template in a clean way. gluestick248 : A very elegant design, keeping to the template and doing something simple that I feel fits into colorless. {Winning} gluestick248 : I'm a fan of elegant designs and yours wins in that regard. Keeping it simple is a plus in my mind, and you kept to the template really neatly. Second place goes to Flo00 for a very innovative card and a new way to think about "you may."

Multiple fasimilate costs aren't redundant. If you have a card with two facsimilate costs, you get to copy it more times for the same amount of mana, say you have twelve mana and a two-drop spell, you can Zoop, cast and facsimilate twice (with two leftover mana). Without the anti-copy and counter clauses, you could Zoop, Zoop, cast and facsimilate three times.

I do like the ability.

All right, this has been going on long enough. vizionarius and Lifeforce Module: You don’t have to sell me on a Fling, and this one’s got lots of upside. I’d definitely stick this in a Commander deck to protect something important, and then get my revenge if the Module goes away. Artifact Enchantment — Aura is a bit odd, but I know what it’s like to have limited art options. viriss and Hatebringer: That’s simple and strong. You got the mirrored ETB and LTB trigger, and on a decent body too. White’s been moving into the cantrip creature space, and we just got Elvish Doomsayer in Commander Legends, so 3 mana seems alright. It might even be a little pushed at 3/2. sorsal and Glacial Relocator: This is an odd one. Assuming snow lands are the default, this could end up costing you 3 mana, but the crew cost is high enough that that’s probably fair. My concern is with that LTB. Bouncing lands is rough, but then again there isn’t really any good snow hate so it might be good for the game. All the submissions were pretty cool, but I’ll give this one to viriss. It’s just such an elegant design, and powerful too.

An abandoned research facility specializing in etherium is left running, untouched and unnoticed by the general populace. The last functional self-aware construct is maintaining all of the remaining experiments and archives. (Started off as a GLaDOS expy, but shifted away from that.)
