A man approaches you: "I heard you were interested in messing with physics, here." He tosses a mechanical cube at you. "Could you do me a favor? If you can find a strange red orb, I'll be grateful. By the way feel free to pop by Theret, and my room above the tavern, also I am running a tourney interested? The prize is the orb I'm hunting as a matter of fact."

Due to an accidental error on my part, I designed an instant for MYA despite not having unlocked that type mastery. To remedy this, I will be ignoring the valor gained from said design, and I will be buying instant type mastery at the first opportunity I have to buy things. Apologies for this.

A cloaked elf stumbles upon Avis on an otherwise peaceful road toward an idyllic little town. They seem inattentive, focused entirely on something else, and an agitated cloud of dark smoke builds around their feet.

When they notice the hunched woman, they rush over to her, panicked, the smoke billowing higher.

"In Miriam's name!"

Aelewin bends down, and attempts to cast a healing spell. It's not one they know well, but it's all they have.

Aelewin instinctively assumes their smoke-form, partially melting into immaterial fog. However, their snap reaction proves to be too slow, and the maw's attack cleaves into their shoulder, leaving a long gash.

Cursing in agony, they make a swift retreat to a few feet back, and draw their blade. It gleams in the sunlight, prepared in a defensive stance to take a slash if the aberrant creature makes another attack on her.

Aelewin has unlocked Instant Type Mastery!

Momentary Feeding: Feels a little feel-bad and swingy? Idk might be me being too critical. 7/10

Smoke-Form Manuveur

Target creature gains "When this creature dies, return it to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it" until end of turn.

Aelewin's mastery of the Smiling One's gifts involved a lot of trial and painful, painful error

Both sword swings land on their mark, severing both tendril's appendages and causing Avis to let out a high-pitched screech, unlike any noise a human should be capable of making. The tendrils slither back into her body, leaving the pieces on the ground to wriggle around pointlessly. Avis looks between the two with a terrified expression on her face, before she drops backwards onto all fours. She begins scuttling backwards away from Zero and Aelewin, her fingers splitting apart into dozens of additional tendrils to make her move much quicker. "H-hurts... Hungry..." She says, clearly hoping to make a quick retreat to safety.

"Hungry for what, aberration? My flesh and bone?"

Despite this agressive motion, Aelewin makes no move to attack, somewhat uneasy, and looks to Zero for direction, simultaneously sizing up the robot.

Thought Parasite: This is really really cool. 10/10

Gut Reaction

Destroy target creature. Create two 1/1 black Organ Horror creature tokens.

Avis cautiously approaches the two, and looks apologetically at Aelewin. "Closest... food... Sorry..." She says, before turning to Zero. "F-food first... Can't talk..." She answers, visibly swallowing down some kind of lump with a shudder. "We'll... good... p-promise..."

Aelewin stands behind Avis and Zero, sword still drawn, eyeing them both off with a degree of wariness. This whole encounter has them unsettled, both due to the inhuman nature of their current companions; and due to the nature of Avis' transportation. Contrary to Zero, they had seen things like this before, and despite the rational knowledge that they were unlikely to be of the same source, it did nothing to quite Aelewin's unease. First the strange woman, with her uncomfortably familiar yet starkly different mannerisms that harkened to a chiasucro of Aelewin's past; and now this.

Grudge Wallower: This is cool, nice how it answers both me and cajun really cleanly. 10/10

On the Arena, Aelewin came face to face with that which brought up memories they thought long buried.

Avis follows Zero without protesting, looking down and trying to avoid all physical contact. She gets visibly more uncomfortable as more people show up around the group, but steels herself and continues on, swallowing down any suspicious lumps that appear in her throat. Once they reach the bakery, Avis nods at Zero to wait outside with Aelewin, though she eyes Aelewin warily while Zero is gone. The moment Zero returns with the loaf, Avis immediately tries to grab it out of her arms. If Zero lets her grab it, she wolfs down the entire loaf in seconds, her mouth splitting open along her cheeks to open wider. After she finishes eating it, she visibly becomes less shaky and uncomfortable, and her skin's undulations fade away. She lets out a shuddering sigh of relief and says "T-thank you. It's satisfied for the next hour or so." She moves to an empty table and sits down. "Now... we can talk."

Aelewin chooses to let Zero continue with the line of questioning, embarking on some introspection themself. It was becoming abundantly clear to them that Avis was not an element of their past, but the similarities remained, and that sent shivers through their spine - the thought that on other planes, aberrations such as those they had nearly become existed.

Perhaps it was better to listen, and to learn what had created this creature.

Death's Directive: Oh this is neat. Little gimmicky though. 8/10
