More or less another Spreading Seas/Aquitect's Will except: 1. It can be attached to non-lands to turn them into mana rocks, 2. It makes things Island's in addition to their other land types, and 3. It doesn't replace itself because it would be a virtually free cantrip and those are busted. My thinking is it would be used as both mana fixing, an awkward kind of mana ramp, and an Islandwalk enabler that's more difficult to remove. I don't think that "Island" fits the definition of a keyword counter for this contest. Pretty sure that they're looking more for something off of this list.

oceanrain333 What’s the idea behind putting “spell” in the type line? Everything that isn’t a land card is a spell anyway.

gamma3 Copying stuff from the wiki gets you in trouble, sometimes. Don't plagiarize, kids.

And here's my own design. I like cards that might be used on my own and/or my opponents' stuff..

Kigneous, Stoker of Flames :2: :R::R: Legendary Creature - Demon Pyromancer Flying Creatures enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter, a haste counter, and a cumulative upkeep 1 counter. Whenever you pay a creature’s cumulative upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature. 4/4 I really like red cards that speed up the tempo of the game and control the game state at the same time (See manabarbs). So I made this: it speeds things up by making every creature bigger, but controls the state by making everything cost mana to keep around. Gradually building a board state with Kigneous is a bad time as it encourages haste fueled aggressive strategies while also curbbing the ability to be aggressive for a long time. But stalling into a Kigneous is also a bad time because any additional board state you try to build will be burned away as upkeep costs increase, so it encourages the other players to get rid of kigneous quickly or go wide. Plus, as a bonus its cumulative upkeep :1: counters make age counters and if that's not in the spirit of counter mayhem, I don't know what is.

You know how killer whales hunt by causing waves to knock seals and penguins into the water? It's that.
