Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and ninety-sixth challenge! The winner of the "Contain Multitudes" poll was spazlaz with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design a card that requires new reminder text. This can include many things. It could describe a new keyword like Emblam. It could describe a game action like ending the turn e.g. Time Stop. It could describe the characteristics of a new token like Food or Treasure. But whatever you make, it has to be new. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

{Old Entry} Wasn't happy with my original idea, so I decided to go with something entirely different.

Ice-Floe Penguin 4UU Creature — Bird :rare: When Ice-Floe Penguin enters the battlefield, target creature gains confused until Ice-Floe Penguin leaves the battlefield. (If it would become tapped or untapped except by its own abilities, the reverse happens.)A flightless bird that saps heat from others to survive.6/5 Giving a meaning to "confuses target creature" was the first thing that popped into my head, so obviously I had to go with that... and then I changed "confused" to a keyword instead, so "confuses target creature" still isn't even the right syntax. Curse of the Fire Penguin would've wanted it that way, though.

I'mma do a common:
Cutfeeder Creature--Vampire Essence (When this permanent dies, create a noncreature tribal enchantment token that’s a copy of it, except it’s a Spirit in addition to its other types, and it doesn’t have essence.) At the beginning of each end step, target player loses 1 life. 2/3

That awkward moment when you go to use a card using one of your most recent mechanics only to realize that mechanic doesn't actually... use reminder text, because it's a keyword action with no intrinsic rules meaning that other abilities piggyback off of, and so you have to pivot to an older project. Render of Leylines Devoid Creature - Eldrazi (Devoid cards have no color.)As an additional cost to cast Render of Leylines, scour a face-up land you control. (Turn it face down as a land with “: Produce .”)When you cast Render of Leylines, scour target face-up land. Reach So before anyone says anything 1. R&D has expressed that if they were to do BfZ again Devoid would be a supertype instead of an ability, so that's how I roll. 2. Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist has established that it's possible for face down permanents to be defined as something other than 2/2 creatures with no colors or types. That's the default, but if an ability defines it otherwise it could be theoretically anything. Obviously I wouldn't recommend mixing scour in with a limited environment that includes some flavor of Morph, but especially since lands are generally kept in a different place than other permanent types it felt safe to me. 3. For the purposes of balance I'd probably say scour would be a notch below land destruction, and I can already sense people going "Land destruction as a core set mechanic is a really bad idea!" And you'd be right, but land SACRIFICING isn't, and a good 75% of the scour cards I've designed so far have used it more as an additional cost. I just felt like showing off a big rude eldrazi for the contest because who doesn't love big rude eldrazi?

Blades Eternal Legendary Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature has double strike and gets +2/+2. When equipped creature would die or be exiled by an effect you don't control, it remains on the battlefield instead. (It does not leave the battlefield, all counters, attached enchantments and equipments remain attached. If the creature was chosen by the effect of another ability or spell it remains chosen until that spell or ability would normally end.)Equip Equip Legendary

the5lacker I feel like you're misunderstanding the goal of people who provide feedback to each other in contests like these. No one needs to defend themselves and no reasonable person is waiting for the opportunity to. If you like your design, talk about it positively; if you have nothing to say, no one cares. Similarly, if you're not going to be constructive in your response to others' designs, you're better off not making a fool of yourself.

I think this is reasonably well-balanced. Yes, it's intended that if you exile an opponent's land you *do* get to play that land.

Price Fixer Artifact Creature - Construct The total cost of each spell is equal to that spell's mana cost. (Additional and alternative costs can still be chosen, but the final cost of the spell will be equal to its mana cost.)
3/1
Sorry Emrakul, you've got to pay all of that 13. Cathartic Reunion on the other hand...

That's an incredibly rude reaction to a preemptive explanation of some aspects of my design that I know might be unconventional. And when I'M calling someone out for being rude, that's saying something.

Can I reuse a existing concept I already have and have shared onsite in this competition?

Attachment DeletedSoul Strike1R Sorcery (Common) Soul Strike deals 2 damage to any target, then invade. (Exile a creature card you own from outside the game that shares a color with this with time counters equal to half its converted mana cost rounded up. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend.)

It's a joke on the new Escape mechanic. Since it's blue/black it can Raise Dead/ Misthollow Griffin itself back from the yard as many times as you want to summon it.

Brazen Adventurer Creature - Human Warrior Haste When ~ enters the battlefield, take initiative 3. (Exile the top three cards of your library. Brazen Adventurer has all abilities of all cards that share a color with it exiled with it.)2/2 "Fortune favors those with the fortunate loot!"Meant to be run with a bunch of double strikers and lifelinkers for a surprise out of nowhere attack that also churns through your library. Can also go in Boros Taxes as a sort of Thalia/Leonin-Arbiter digger in a pinch.

Jartis: This feels so much like a Curse. Is there any reason why it isn't?
jarribas309: The way cremate is worded, it sounds like you're missing an "instead" at the end. Was this intentional? One of the main selling points to exiling is that is doesn't trigger abilities that look for something dying, so I would think that that's what you were going for.
