So the name of this game is Pixel Bit, just in case anyone was interested, but the idea is that the art is gonna take a kind of back seat for a new field. Will someone with more knowledge in this program help me out? I'd ideally like it to look like this:
------------------------------ | Name & Cost | ------------------------------
| | |
| | |
| Art |Stats |
| | |
| | |
------------------------------
| Type & Set |
------------------------------
| |
| |
|Effects/Ability Text |
| |
| |
------------------------------
Thank You!

I'm guessing that you are wanting a magic the gathering template (you didn't say so it isn't obvious). You need to state this, different templaters are good at different things. Some of what I have below will not be applicable in that instance (some of the framework is already in place for the Magic cards, but I'm not the one to answer those questions; as a templater, I am good at working on Electric Cars and Carburetor Engines, I don't even have the computer to access these new complicated MtG Cars).
Additionally if you want a new template then be forewarned it is not a simple task. Working on them will take time and effort, so you need to be prepared that this will not happen overnight. Because of this anyone who helps you needs to know that you have as much skin in the game as they do. You will need to get some of the items for the template yourself, the more you already have prepared the more likely someone here will help you (as in any request for assistance in life). You say the artwork isn't important, that's ok but be forewarned that a significant part of a template is the artwork. I'll list below some of the things that go into a template. {Coding} A template is basically a simplified web-page. It uses a simplified hyper-text like language to allow the user to interface with a grid based visual element. Overall the coding itself isn't hard, it can be annoying at times as there are not really any good reference databases to access. The point of the coding isn't to create code but to create a way to access the different aspects of template. MSE can only do the same things that anyone who has a image files and is good with an image editor can't do themselves. In short the coding helps by giving the user the ability to change any part of a card through the interface (rather than deleting and loading a new image). An example of this is the magic templates changing the card texture whenever you change the casting cost of the spell (from to for example). {Visual Elements}Every visual aspect of a card needs to be defined already The window surrounding the artwork, the symbols that you use. This also includes both the size and location of the visual elements. The biggest problem with this is that these elements need to flow with one another. Poor templates are kind of like designing a car where the steering wheel sticks out of the windshield. {Fonts}You need to know which fonts you are going to use, especially if you are planning on using any sort of symbol trickery within in portions of the rule text. {Coordinate System}The cards are layed out using rastor graphics (like a webpage). To this end you need to know the location of every part of the card the text, the symbols, interface buttons (clickable locations that change some portion of the card), and visual elements. You first need to know how big your card is going to be in both pixels and in real life. If I was creating a completely new game I would probably start by creating the card on a graph paper so that I would know and be able to reference exactly where everything is going to be. {Card Interface} Finally you need to have an understanding of what "links" for lack of a better user-friendly word you want to have in the card interface. For example what keywords will the template use to change card faces or visual elements. What drop-down menus do you want and where will they be located at. In short, if you want help then we need more information and you have a lot of work ahead of yourself.
