Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and ninety-second challenge! The winner of the "Look at Me, I'm the Creative Team" poll was jarribas309 with...As neither our winner nor our runner-up managed to reply in time, I'll offer this backup challenge... As most of you probably know, the Storm Scale is used to rank the likely hood of a given mechanic to see a return into Standard. It ranks from Level 1 (the evergreen mechanics) all the way up to Level 11 ( Bands with other). Your task for this challenge is: Pick a mechanic at Level 7 or higher and design a card featuring it! To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Because why not? Scion of Unity - Creature - Dryad Soldier Banding ( Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.) Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, you win the game if it was banded with four other creatures. "You have nothing to lose but your self."2/2

Got a question before I make a card. The mechanic that I want to use hasn't ever been given a Storm Scale rating, so...would it be counted as a 10+ because it's so unwanted and unloved that no one even remembers it?
[EDIT]
Specifically, the mechanic is Sweep.
[EDIT]
But it could have been: Channel, Soulshift, or <prefix> offering

Locus Firegrid Enchantment - Locus Flash When ~ enters the battlefield, you may have it deal damage equal to the number of Locus you control to target creature. , Sacrifice ~: ~ deals damage equal to the number of Locus you control to target player.

ANTE IS AT A TEN ON THE STORM SCALE, I WAS MADE FOR THIS CONTEST
Here's a design from my new set, Ante Up, that I made like last night. I really like it. It was VERY hard to decide which card to use for this though, there's so many amazing ones.

Daij_Djan The blinking was intentional, but looking back on it with your examples, not causing any blinking makes the card simpler, more beautiful, and more effective in conveying what it does. Changed the manacost representing the missing blinking. Thanks for the feedback! {OLD} My entry. Feedback on wording very appreciated.

I actually think the untap mechanic is cool and good, but I get that it's not for newly franchised players. But then, none of us are newly franchised players. Uh, probably.

Persist is pretty far down the totem pole, but I went with Substance. I'm designing 5th dimensional magic cards, so a primer: - Flash (and Substance) are supertypes that affect spell timing restrictions. Instants are Flash Sorceries.
- Melting is: "At the beginning of the next end step, sacrifice this permanent."
{FULL MELVIN}This is not exactly the same mechanic because End of Turn is comprised of an End Step and one or more Cleanup Steps. If a Substance permanent that grants extra toughness/indestructibility was sacrificed at the beginning of the end step, it might be destroyed as a state-based action since damage isn't removed until Cleanup per 514.2. This is analogous to bolting a 0/2 with Armor of Thorns then disenchanting the aura or destroying Wilt-Leaf Liege while Steward of Valeron has otherwise lethal damage on it. (Thereby rendering Parapet USELESS!!!) I'm not sure how best to reconcile this gross mismatch with the obvious meaning on the original card. Obviously I could change Melting, but there are 61 cards that do just that going back to Dragon Whelp in Alpha. Perhaps errata that such a melting permanent will soak enough damage to leave the creature alive as it LTB.

@all: Finally managed to catch up to most things after having two really busy weeks. Poll will finally be up today and starting next week will right on time again
@ burntsquirrelman: As much as I'm sure Sweep would fulfill the requirements, only mechanics we know the rating of, sorry.
@ melono: Is the blinking intentional or was it just used to get the effect? If it's not required, cards like Maelstrom Djinn or Jhoira of the Ghitu shorten the wording to: "For each creature, put two time counters on it. If that creature doesn’t have vanishing, it gains vanishing."

My first impulse was to do a Haunt card again - but as I've done so just recently, I decided to take a different approach. Back since I was part of the Humans vs. monsters Duel Deck Contest round, I have a soft spot for Leveler cards - so why not give them a try here? For the record: Level 1+ means the assassin will continue to have deathtouch even when he reaches level 7 (and above). This actually works just fine within the already given rules of the mechanic, but just was never used so far.

All the cards I've made that I really appreciate as a player are 1% un-card.

@fabuloussunbro: That could actually be playable in an enchantment prison deck. Maybe a little bit too expensive and sadly doesn't synergise with Assemble the Legion and Outlaw's Merriment but it can fit in a tier 3 modern prison.

FYI, you need the full rules text on delirium. Ability words don't have any effect on their own.

@fabuloussunbro When would your card ever become tapped? Don’t you mean the land it’s attached to?

As I was making funcards by passing trough, and I'm back for this one!
What do you think of this entry? (Pretty sure there's a way to break it, but that the risk with the storm-scale eh)
