Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and ninety challenge! The winner of the "Sweet & Simple" poll was Parasign with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Choose something you want to happen in the Magic storyline and design a Story Spotlight card for it. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Choose something you want to happen in the Magic storyline..
I cannot be the only one, can I?
(Btw, I know this is the Jace's Defeat artwork. I wasn't able to find an unused yet just as fitting one.)

Get outta my standard naughty boy and stay in the jar ! EDIT: I reworked the art a bit. I put the old version in a spoiler. {Old version} (Yes she has two big blue hands and one tiny white hand. It's her choice that's it.)

Because we all know it's gonna happen eventually:
Emrakul, Glorious Compleation Legendary Creature--Elder Eldrazi Horror You may get nine poison counters rather than pay this spell’s mana cost. Emrakul, Glorious Compleation can only be cast from exile. Flash Flying, trample, hexproof, infect Annihilator X, where X is the number of poison counters defending player has. If Emrakul, Glorious Compleation would deal combat damage to a player, you may divide that damage among any number of players instead. {Phyrexian watermark} 20/20

I'd like to imagine Dovin is somewhere being very angry at everything after War of the Spark, being possibly blind forever and not knowing what to do with himself.

Well, I will add my design to all the Jace-hate. But I don't want him to necessarily die...

Way too complicated for an actual card, but I've been shipping this since before Kaladesh block as a LGBT player myself. Attachment Deleted

viriss : Can you give us a few words of context please ? I'm curious about what your card is telling exactly. I expect we'll get a new zone eventually and thought an "underworld" would make a great, flavorful choice. Mostly because that's where Elspeth has been on Theros. Which then lead to hoping to see it reused if/when we get a Norse set. I haven't put much thought into what the mechanics would be since I haven't playtested anything yet. That's why I tried to write the card as generic as possible. So that card is Valhalla, though only half the people go to that hall (so maybe that should be the red part of my card). The Hall enchantment type is really just a reworking of World enchantments. Edit: just saw some Beyond Death spoilers. nvm, lol

Nice idea ! Yep sad news for the spoils. (It can still be a very detailed troll made by a talented MSE user until Wizards confirms, but i doubt it.)

I kinda doubt that they're real - Hero of the Nyxborn and Heroes of the Revel are way too similar, mechanically. Anyway: Misao, Scribe of Minamo Legendary Creature - Human Wizard Prowess Draw a card if ~ is an Instant or Sorcery. Splice onto Arcane 2/4 Return to Return to Kamigawa, plzkthxbai.

Lady Mapi: I don't think your entry actually works. By the time splicing happens, it's already too late for "When you cast" triggers. Not to mention adding abilities that are strictly for creatures onto instants or sorceries.

The Kami War may have ended, but feudalism's not the most peaceful of governments.

The plane Virydor doesn't like being entered. I don't have anything against planeswalker or even the Gatewatch per se, but after having basically every storyline after Lorwyn revolve around planeswalkers, I would love to visit planes without the characters in them having the possibility of other worlds. I just feel like completely focusing on one plane (or better yet, going smaller) gives the (story around the) plane more room to speak for itself and to be more fleshed out. So it may be seen that it's not really a story spotlight card since it's just the plane's property, used only as a metapher to push the narrative to self-contained planes (ironically, in this narrative there would not even be the need for such deterring properties as it can already base itself on stories just not being driven by these external super-people), but I did it anyway.^^ At the english-experts: I know that actually, "less" is not used for countable things, but I saw many examples where "one less" and alike was used? Should it be "one fewer" or something like that?
