"I'm sorry it's not exactly like the original, but unlike you, I couldn't fill it with the essence of the Demon that came out of it and tried to kill me, so you probably won't like it as much as the one you made!"Aylin's eyes are burning with rage, the memories are clearly tearing her apart from the inside. Sevid takes a step back as she sees the statue for herself. It was a lot more unsettling when it wasn't just ink. The stone Vathos plunges through the statue, reminding her there was never any threat. She knew that it wouldn't do anything more than unsettle her when she made it. "I didn't sic any demon on you." The excited tone in her voice was gone. Now she just sounded annoyed. Her face is an uncomfortable grimace. Something had this kid more rattled than just the statues. Outer Calm Instant Whenever a source an opponent controls deals damage to you this turn, you gain 1 life and you draw a card. Inner Turmoil - interesting sidegrade to Swordpoint Diplomacy. Think this isn't great cause the deck that wants punisher draw is going to be running pretty low cmcs tho. 8/10"Heya, bird. I'm detective Rolt, and this here's--" "Vivien. A pleasure to meet you." she said, cutting me off like a dead leaf of a plant. "Right. Besides that point, we got some questions about a couple things going down on the arena." Rolt and Viven walk into the small wooden building with the words PB&J Delivery! painted crudely next to the door, only a few feet off the ground. On one side of the room, a large turtle-person was slooooooooowly moving packages from the counter into a backpack. On the other, a kithkin was sitting at a workbench, tinkering with some device. "Kithkin, actually, but nice ta meetchas, name's Pidge." She gives the pair a little salute. "Have only been on the Arena for a few days, but I'll tell ya what I can." ”Good to meet you. Now, I’d like to ask what you know about a drug called Mirage?"A quick look of disgust passes over the kithkin's face and is quickly replaced by her professional demeanor. "We don't carry that kind merch at the PB&J," she says, looking up and down the detective and eyeing his cigarette. "And before you ask, no Soar either. Try the Rixos kid if you're wanting those kind of dealings."Honest Work Enchantment Whenever a card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, you gain 1 life.
Shortcut w/gurf's line. Field Observations - feels pretty expensive for a mill support piece. Also gets pretty goofy if you and the opp both manage to get one. 7/10

I nod, and reply, "If you are willing to serve as a guide, then I can follow. Should we encounter any threats, I shall ensure that you remain unharmed." I focus on the elf, making ready to follow her aether trail when she planeswalks. Sevid nods, draws the Atlas from its case, and focuses on that cold plane. The world around her melts to black, then redraws Mirrodin around her. Or, more correctly, she notices, draws New Phyrexia around her. The twisted landscape, the taste in the air, the black glisten floating down the mercury river. Her face goes pale as the Phyrexian appears next to her and the older woman appears a small distance away. "I..." She stares unfocused at the corrupted world. "I was supposed to stop things like this. I'm supposed to be better than this."// She turns with a betrayed look to the other woman. Khon may or may not hear the voice from her comm.Reyhsia sighs. "Yea. I knew. It happened before your map though. You couldn't have stopped this."A myr with a cruel claw notices the team... (Call for Aid: Ichorclaw Myr) Exonerate Instant Exile target creature with one or more counters on it. It's controller gains life equal to the number of counters on it. "You've done all you can. TBH, given the counter limitation, you probably could've expanded this to other types of permanents (artifacts would be most appropriate given the circumstances, but I could see it being creature or planeswalker given the flavor on the card itself). It's definitely a solid card, though, just seems slightly underwhelming. 9/10.I look around as the plane materializes around me, noting the clear signs of Phyrexian presence. I quickly notice the creature nearby, a metallic being with a claw dripping with glistening oil, approaching the group - though it's hard to tell whether it is a compleated being, or simply a construct. Regardless, I have already agreed to serve as protection for the elf, so I quickly raise my boltcaster and fire a small bolt of condensed mana, processed through the Phyrexian weapon, at the creature's head. Nodding as the creature falls, I turn towards the elf, having heard her comment, and say, "I am uncertain how you feel responsible for this - a mapmaker's purpose is not to wage wars, after all. If this plane had its own defenders, then they would have had the purpose of fighting for their land, and you should not hold yourself responsible for their failures." I scan the area again, confident that there are no other immediate threats, before saying, "Given our objective here, I believe we should seek out sapients who can provide us with more detail of how the Phyrexians came to this place. If you prefer not to remain, then I will understand if you elect to return. cajun I nodded, taking a quick look at the lumbering figure hauling boxes and the like. "You know about it, then. I'm not after it - that stuff is no good, like eggs left out too long to rot in the summer sun." I said, taking a hit of my butt. "We're here to ask if you know anyone that might be selling the stuff or are in possession of it at all. Figure you look like a merchant and know how to smuggle." I said. Vivien waited for something, then rolled her eyes.
"To clarify, we think someone was framed with possession and, seeing as you're a courier service, we thought you might know about bringing things in secrecy. Maybe helping resist tyrannies, or stopping illicit deals, that kind of thing." she said. That small, ever-so-hypnotic lull to her voice still got me sometimes, let alone the unsuspecting.Hypnotic Voice Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt by enchanted creature. "I struck, but my blades did not have their passion, their flame -- I was hypnotized, under her wicked control!" -- Tales of Grandpa Shallun--It's okay, Pidge. You can trust Vivien.
(This is not a voice, but rather a mood being emitted softly around the group.) Honest Work: Slightly concerned about those infinite life loops but there's probably better things to do than gain life like this with an infinite grave recursion combo. However, still pretty easy to lay low with this and gain a fair amount of life. 8/10.

omai, this applies the poison quick. 1/3 split on the costs would be safer, dunno if its strictly needed tho 8/10 That's a nice equipment. My only concern is that the ETB trigger... doesn't quite seem to make sense with the other abilities and the flavor of the item. Mechanically, it's sound, though. 9/10"I see," I say as she explains her disquiet over not knowing the truth of this place. As she weaves her magic and confirms that nobody appears to be present, I watch, vaguely wondering if I could devise something to similarly alert me of unseen presences. Her question to me draws my attention, however, and I reply, "I... I am unsure. This place is not the Phyrexia which I once knew - and even then, I departed because I questioned the merits of our leader's goal, and the punishment I received for doing so was... unpleasant, to say the least. Battle is the purpose for which I was born and compleated, but I see no value in fighting for the sake of fighting, instead looking for and offering my services to causes with more tangible goals." I consider for a moment as I look around the landscape, as if somehow I would be able to glean the reasoning of the Phyrexian rulers of this land by doing so. Finally, I say, "I suppose I wish to know what purpose they have here, and why they distinguish themselves as 'New' Phyrexia. Without that information, I cannot determine a further course of action."Masterless Golem Artifact Creature - Golem Whenever Masterless Golem deals combat damage to a player, that player may draw three cards. Outer Calm: Ooof, dropping this against an aggro/token deck would be catastrophic for the attacker! I'm not sure it should be . If you're not a Phyrexian, or not a blind follower to the cause, you get fed to the furnace. Is that the Phyrexia you want back, Vasq?"Interjecting Voice Enchantment - Aura Enchant permanent Whenever an ability of enchanted permanent becomes activated or triggered, if it isn't a mana ability, counter that ability. Masterless Golem - nice 10/10 Very nice - it can hit everything from lands to planeswalkers, but can't quite be used as land destruction due to the mana ability clause. And the fact that it's a trigger in itself means that it can be circumvented by anything from Stifle and Disallow to effects that can copy an ability, all the way to putting an Interjecting Voice on the one that was put on your permanent to begin with (which just makes me smile, knowing that it's its own counter). 10/10I consider the woman's words, and recall my own treatment when I questioned the purpose behind the planned invasion of Dominaria. The tortures I suffered, solely because I questioned whether the goal we were given - one of simple destruction with no benefit to Phyrexia - was truly worth pursuing when more rewarding options were out there. Compleation is a gift that Phyrexia brings to the rest of the multiverse, I think to myself, the opportunity to cast off the frailties of flesh in favor of greater strength and an undying form of metal. To receive this gift, then spurn Phyrexia's goals... it is only fitting that those who do so be repurposed to benefit those who serve the Father of Machines. Is it not?As I consider this, a memory comes to mind, seemingly unrelated - a young girl, holding a spear. Frightened, yet resolute at the same time. "You say that you are an explorer. At whose behest do you perform that role?" "Uh... for myself, mostly. Finding people to help. Why do you want to know?" "We are similar, then. We both seek to fulfill our purposes in aid to those goals which we determine have sufficient worth, and make those goals our own."No, I think to myself, that is not quite correct. She seeks to help others. I fight because it is the purpose for which I was born and compleated - though I no longer serve the Ineffable, and while I still seek to ensure that the ends are worthwhile, I seek battle simply because it is what I was told I would do from the beginning of my life. The good or ill that my actions bring to others is merely a side effect of this."I guess you could put it that way? I just know what it's like to be helpless, and want to make sure no one else has to." "While I was born and compleated with the knowledge that I would one day meet my own end in combat, I wonder if you are prepared for the possibility that your efforts may one day lead you to die for another's cause...""I... I..." Her eyes welled with unshed tears, while I watched on with disdain. Then I watched as her eyes hardened with resolve and she planted her spear firmly, the tip beginning to glow. "I'll do whatever it takes. I'd rather die trying to help than live knowing I did nothing." Her resolve was not drawn from her purpose as an explorer... but rather her will to help others. She was willing to die aiding others even if it meant her purpose would be unfulfilled. Yet, while I am willing to risk my life battling against foes here... what purpose have my battles truly served? I have always stated this to be my purpose, but that purpose is not truly my own... "Perfection at the expense of the imperfect. If you're not a Phyrexian, or not a blind follower to the cause, you get fed to the furnace. Is that the Phyrexia you want back, Vasq?"Perfection... this was never the Ineffable's goal. He sought to destroy out of simple spite... to erase the plane he once called his own. "If you're not a Phyrexian, or not a blind follower to the cause, you get fed to the furnace." This is no different than the tortures I faced for questioning the Ineffable's goals. Even if the end result here is conquest rather than destruction, they claim to seek perfection while choosing to silence those who would point out possible flaws.I sigh, and say, "No... while the end goal they may claim is different than what the Father of Machines pursued when I was on Phyrexia, before my spark awakened, they still seek to reach their vision of perfection by destroying those who do not fit it, rather than finding ways to bring them up to that level." I look at the two women, and say, "If you have more that you wish to explore here, I will remain with you. However, I do not believe that I need to explore this plane further at this time, so if you wish to return to the Arena, we can do so. I will not find purpose here."

Still, we can discuss this further once we have departed here. I will depart as soon as I confirm you both are away from this plane." "Ah, not reading one, so much as creating yours. Think you'd be quite the interesting story for others to learn from, but as you say, let's get out of here. You can think about it on the way."// Reyhsia and Sevid go back to the Arena. Sevid quietly approaches one of the maps on the walls and twists the ink to make the title read New Phyrexia. If Khon follows them and has nothing more to say, Reyhsia continues."So Vasq, when it comes to Phyrexia, we don't know much besides the violence and the conquest. But you, you've got some rare knowledge indeed." Probably out of date knowledge, but still useful. "Whenever you're ready to share, I'd love to hear what you have to say about them."The Unbound Archive Legendary Artifact , : Exile target nonland permanent that doesn't share a name with a card exiled with The Unbound Archive until The Unbound Archive leaves the battlefield. Once each turn, you may cast a card exiled with The Unbound Archive. "It is not so much an item as a goal. To chronicle the Multiverse. To learn all its secrets to better understand where we've come from, and where we'll go."
(unbound archive is actually one of my other character's deals not Reyhs but it fits) Reaction Engine - so much copy. kinda hard to use. 8/10

It would be an expensive way to steal people's stuff, and while I can think of a few infinite loops that it could be slotted into, those would be better served with something that outright wins rather than this. From a flavor standpoint, though, it seems like it shouldn't be taking the stuff 'saved' to the archive out of exile when cast. Maybe instead of casting them, make token copies? I dunno... still a great card. Only complaint is that this is one of those things that really seems like it should be just due to how unique it is. 9/10I join the two women back at the bakery, considering the elder's request. cajun Before I can even open my mouth, I'm punched in the gut. I grunt and hit the ground hard, something cracking that's not supposed to. "Augh..." I groan, looking up at the turtle. Slow and steady my ass. "Can't say I... augh... didn't deserve it." I say, shaking my arm and coughing, tossing my gun across the room. Before I blink next, the damn thing is back in my hand. Vivien's profusely apologizing to the kithkin - "I don't know what came over him", "not usually violent", yadda yadda yadda. I groan again, taking the gun by it's barrel and handing it to the turtle, handle first. "I, uh... probably shouldn't have this." visions flash in front of my eyes again - this time I recognize it, the same speed she used when I caught her, almost blowing my own head off back on Ball Lane, and I grunt. I stumble, trying to turn around and falling down again. "Augh!" despite my best effort, another groan of pain as I hit the ground with a thud. Vivien excuses herself from Pidge, rushing to me. "U-um..." I swallow - my vision is my own, but it's going for a lovely swim today. I start to speak to the kithkin, before feeling my stomach lurch like a kid seeing his parents make out, and my vision goes black.---Vivien is outwardly calm. She politely tries to excuse herself from the store, casually dragging the multiverse's greatest detective away.No one will help you detective, or you, Controller. No one cares about you or your story.Jhanu, the Elder: Weird Forced Fruition type thing. The wording bugs me, but the Magic player in me knows it's probably right (the switching part - my nonMagic part says "are switched" but woohoo rules). Neat card, honestly. 10/10.

I join the two women back at the bakery, considering the elder's request. "I am willing to speak with you of Phyrexia... what is it that you wish to know?"Reyhsia laughed. "In a word, everything. But lets start with you. What made you question your leaders? Why were you, apparently, the only one who has ever done so?"// Reyhsia feels at her pockets, pulling out paper and nothing else "Hey, uh, Det. You got a pen?" The elf gave her a confused look. Reyhsia sighed "Right, right." She pulled up her sword slightly, then cut her finger on the blade. She held her hand over the page, and wove the blood into the words Khon Vasq, Phyrexian. History of Blood Enchantment At the beginning of each end step, History of Blood deals damage to up to one target creature equal to the amount of damage dealt by that creature this turn. Riftcutter - this might cost enough to not matter, but would have the safety valve of 'chose a card exiled by ~' to avoid Time Warp loops. 8/10

However... I can't help but think it's probably too expensive. Maybe would be a better cost. The name also feels like it should be on either a Legendary Enchantment or a Saga. 8/10.I consider the woman's question for a moment, before replying, "I cannot speak for why others of my kind did not question our leaders. Perhaps they simply did not care to. However, the first teachings I was given after emerging from the vats were that all things have purpose, have use. Everything is a resource that can be claimed and used to further one's purpose. However, through my compleation, and as I honed my skills for battle, I learned that my duty was to eventually join in an effort to invade and destroy the plane that the Ineffable began his existence on, before his ascension. There was no intent of conquest, of claiming the land or the resources of that plane - and no reason for doing so. It was simply because the Father of Machines wished for his former home to no longer exist. It was a waste of resources - where instead of progressing the Grand Evolution and guiding those beings to compleation, we were instructed to annihilate them." I pause for a moment, making sure that the woman's writing catches up to what I've said. "I brought forth my concerns to my superiors, suggesting that it made no sense to waste our own resources by sending them into a plane that was destined for destruction, just as it made no sense to waste the resources that world could offer. But despite following one of the most basic lessons taught to us as newts, I was subjected to pain and suffering for questioning the Ineffable's will. I was not slain - after all, I had already been partially compleated at this time, and as such was a resource they claimed they did not wish to squander. So after my punishment, I was allowed to resume my role, and in my training distinguished myself enough that I was fully compleated. Still, I failed to see the merits of waging a war solely for destruction - and this time, I tried to find others of like mind. I found myself reported once more for what was considered heresy, and subjected to greater punishment - and told that it would last until either my will broke, or my body did. Neither occurred - despite the torment I was subjected to, I still believed that I was working to the purposes of Phyrexia, and that my purpose was not to seek senseless annihilation of enemies with nothing to speak of for doing so. In the end, my defiance won out - my spark awakened, and I found myself pulled away from Phyrexia entirely."

I spent a great deal of time coming to understand just what had happened, how I found myself outside of Phyrexia, and learning to control my abilities. Once I gained sufficient control of my ability to travel the planes, I roamed in search of valid causes to fight for - individuals or groups whose goals seemed to make enough sense for me to support. As I traveled, I learned to utilize mana to craft weapons and constructs to aid my own style of combat. There is something that occurred fairly recently which seems to have hindered my abilities somewhat - I know not exactly what it was that occurred, but it takes more focus and energy now to craft the same weapons or constructs that I could call forth a century ago almost effortlessly."Phyrexian Relic Artifact : Add . : Add one mana of any color. Activate this ability only if an opponent has one or more poison counters.

Answer for Harm: Really clever response, interesting how you probably want to play this alongside colors that can actually make your opponents bleed rather than in monoblue. 9/10. "Honestly, it's a surprise that the worst anyone's done to you out here is give you some spooky punching bags.""You better take that back before I make you do it!" says Aylin, clearly enraged. As she speaks, the earth beneath her feet starts vibrating, and the vibrations begin spreading. Even though they are causing no harm, they can be felt, it's as if the earth was about to be split in two, but it's surprisingly being held together, even if barely. The phenomenon stops almost as quickly as it began. "You know what? Congratulations, you changed my mind!" says Aylin with a mixture of mocking and contempt "I thought I could never wish this upon anybody, but apparently I can. I wish that Malextros returns, but that he comes after you rather than after me. I wish that you get to feel the horror and desperation by yourself. I wish for you to understand the gravity of the situation first hand, rather than standing oblivious on your petty muffin shop while we out there are fighting the real fight!"Grim Manifestation Sorcery Exile target creature card from a graveyard, then create a token that's a copy of it except it's a black Horror and it has no mana cost. They thought they'd seen the last of him. They were proven wrong in the worst way.
(Card doesn't actually represent Malextros returning, just Aylin's 'wish')

"I wish for you to understand the gravity of the situation first hand, rather than standing oblivious on your petty muffin shop while we out there are fighting the real fight!" Laughter. The witch puts a hand to her eye as she laughs. "The real fight? The real fight! I bet that's what you told yourself when you dropped a mountain on poor Oblay, wasn't it? Or when you nearly killed Reyhsia for telling you you weren't an orphan? Maybe when your personal beef with a demon killed Sunspear and got children caught in the crossfire? Or maybe just now, when you cratered that bakery? Was all that in service to 'the real fight?'"Ridicule Sorcery Return target creature to its owner's hand. Its controller puts the top X cards of their library into their graveyard, where X is that creature's power. Grim Manifestation - seems generally a downgrade on Rise from the Grave? 7/10

A tall, elegant woman...person....figure...wearing an ornate outfit (if in the complexity of it's design, and not the brightness of it's color) can be seen walking through a field. In the din of the setting sun, her more strange features are masked heavily, but not entirely, in shadow. Two additional arms seem to sprout from her lower back, with two heavy wings of black feather almost shielding her backside. The woman stops in the field, a black iron staff digging into the dirt. In front of her, is an ethereal green figure, which pauses in step with the woman behind it. A trail of light green wisps mark their path through the plain, and it looks back expectantly at the woman. She does not move. She knows where she is. {Feel free to have whoever you want meet her, I like all of your characters!}{Gift Card - Everwisp Channeler}

Enough that I actually want to borrow the idea for my own set. 10/10"I am... uncertain, as the purpose that Phyrexia was stated to have, the Grand Evolution of the multiverse to perfection, did not seem to match with the Ineffable's will." I consider the situation for a moment, before saying, "I know that Phyrexia was first created in order to save a dying race - that compleation is meant to be a gift. Freedom from pain, from illness and from death. This is what we were meant to offer to the multiverse as Phyrexian influence spread. But I cannot reconcile that with the actions that have been taken... the choice to invade and destroy planes, the choice to simply cast aside those who have the misfortune of still being incompleat - this is not what I came to expect of Phyrexia. For now, I feel I can only continue to observe, and determine what purpose I shall serve moving forward. Until then... I will simply continue as I have been, offering my services as a warrior to those who I feel are working towards a valid goal."Faithless Mercenary Artifact Creature - Construct Mercenary When Faithless Mercenary enters the battlefield, target opponent chooses a counter type other than loyalty counters.
