Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and eighty-first challenge!
The winner of the "The More the Merrier" poll was kinotherapy with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... Lately we've been seeing a few pushed cards designed for tribal decks, but outside of the set with the tribal, such as Shifting Ceratops and Knight of the Ebon Legion in M20 (well ok, M20 had a bit of vamp tribal, but not much compared to Ixalan.) In this vein (lol), pick an existing tribal strategy and design a new creature card for it, but without using that tribe's name in the rules text. That means no lords — i.e. if you're making, say, an Ixalan-style Merfolk then you can't give it an ability that mentions Merfolk — but you could still design it with a Merfolk counter strategy in mind, or design it to synergise with existing Merfolk cards like Merfolk Mistbinder or Jadelight Ranger. Though if you do, try to make sure your card isn't completely reliant on its strategy as it should still be useful in a vacuum.
Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. What Aarhg said; I was just using Standard examples since they're recent and convenient. My entry:  Nivix Staticaster   Creature — Human Wizard  Haste When Nivix Staticaster enters the battlefield, target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains jump-start until end of turn. (You may cast that card from your graveyard by discarding a card in addition to paying its other costs. Then exile that card.)2/2 Not the most imaginative of designs to be sure, but just something that I feel the Wizard deck wants. Haste replacing flash makes it proactive, so that it can be useful in an aggressive Wizard deck on turn 2, and also on later turns where you can start doing silly things with Wizard's Lightning or Skewer the Critics. |

Goblin Dynamite Specialist  Creature - Goblin  Whenever you sacrifice a creature, if the sacrificed creature deals damage to a target, it deals that damage plus 1 to that target instead. ,  , Sacrifice a red creature you control: Sacrificed creature deals 2 damage to any target. 2/1  So I'm trying to be cute here, making the sacrificed creature the source of the damage. Was originally going to have "sacrifice goblin" but then realized that would violate the contest rules. The initial ability was fine as it was, but I did have to change the second one and now I'm not as certain that it really makes this a goblin tribal. |

This is for allies! Wanted to make a card that worked with both Rally (and all the Zendikar Allies that have it unkeyworded), and Cohort, and decided on something that made temporary tokens that triggered Rally a second time, and with haste so that they could tap the nontoken in addition to themselves to activate their Cohort ability. Decided to add defender because I wanted to reward a playstyle that focused more on activated ability and ETB plays. Since we have time, I thought I'd make a couple more designs! (Not my entries.) {But Wait! There's More!} Ifris, Gossamer Adept   Legendary Creature - Illusion The first time each turn you would sacrifice a creature, instead return it to your hand. :, Sacrifice a creature: Draw a card. You lose 1 life. 3/3 Wolfpelt Warrior  Creature - Human Warrior Whenever a creature you control transforms, choose one: - Put a +1/+1 counter on Wolfpelt Warrior. - Wolfpelt Warrior fights target creature. 2/2 |

Use an image hosting site and then insert the BBC code link. For example, I use imgur. When I upload a picture, there's a little dropdown menu with links for various forum formats. |

This totally counts! I couldn't pick just one tribe, so I picked them all! It's Arcane Adaptation meets Painter's Servant. Gotta love it. EDIT: Turns out "Arcane Adaptation meets Painter's Servant" doesn't actually have many use cases. You don't normally benefit from determining what your opponents' creature types are. So I made it do something daaaaangerously different! Now it even supports landfall tribal, Desert synergy, Gate synergy..... Urborg must be jealous. EDIT 8/22: gateways7 has a point--"all of your creatures are now also lands, all of the time" is more dicey than spicy. (It also raised questions I didn't initially pick up on about how it interacts with the stack.) So here! This card has tribal synergy with artifacts and enchantments as well! I also retooled the card so that it opens your opponents' creatures up to artifact and enchantment hate, which would have fascinating sideboard implications. {Previous submissions}First submission  Second submission  |

I decided to be slightly more original this time.  Why enjoy your Zubera triggers only once? You're right that creatures these days, (especially Dinos) are much beefier than they used to be, but I think being able to trigger your Enrage abilities at will justifies the low power. It seems like the game is balancing around 3/2 creatures ( Deathbloom Thallid provides a somewhat frustrating counterplay), which Thrashing Elder responds particularly well to. If you can wipe the board clear, you can expect to deal 7 damage per turn until they can destroy TE. This is especially heinous if you give it lifelink. |

I colorshifted Thrashing Wumpus for Dinosaur tribal.  This is sooo close to being a winner, it just needs one thing. Remember that creatures back then were horrible to terribad at best, so in order to update it, you should prolly increase at least the power, say to a 5/3, as the 3 toughness is an excellent limiting factor to how many times you can activate it per turn without losing it. Other than that, a Dinowumpus makes so much sense, I'm surprised nobody at Wizards thought of it (as far as we know...). Also, remember that if it's in the name, and it's a creature type, it MUST also be on the typeline. |

I don't think you can throw (Creatures with land types are lands) in parentheses, I think you have to write that out normally. It also seems like Armageddon-esque effects get very broken with this in play. (Also, is it supposed to make all creatures able to tap for mana? Seems pushing broken if that's the case.) |
