Now that we’re done with Visions, it’s the customary 2-week break, then we start with Weatherlight’s 39 entries. Rather than have an appendicle 3-card episode 4, you’ll get three 13-card episodes.
So, until then, thanks to Daij_Djan , and I’ll see you all later.
- 58 cards stay on The Reserved List.
- 192 cards get reprinted in Standard.
- 61 cards get reprinted in supplemental sets.
137 cards that should’ve been prevented from ever having despoiled the timestream.- Dark Ritual has been added to The New Revised Reserved List.
Naked Singularity, Bronze Tablet, Jeweled Bird, Rebirth, Tempest Efreet, and Rishadan Port have been retroactively added to the list of cards that should’ve been prevented from ever having despoiled the timestream.

{My grandma used to watch All My Children, so--wait, wrong one. Like sands through the hourglass, this is Guiding Light. Yeah, that’s it!}
Sands of Time 193, but on a probationary release. I’d like to try it and see, and releasing it to Standard also releases it to Modern and all supplemental formats, where I’m guessing it will have the greatest impact, whilst also being in the safest environment for it.
Price
Another World appears to be an attempt to fix Stasis, and, unlike with other attempts, this one seems to not also be broken. Although, I know all you Munchkins out there just looooove to push thing far past their breaking points. Because of this, I’m gonna keep my eye on Burn it all down, daddy. I’m hoping for the best (that it does little to nothing), but preparing for the worst (gitchor banhammers rdy, folks!).

Squandered Resources 59

So, yeah. Squandered Resources is a card with history. I agonized over whether or not to reprint it, but in the end, it all came down to what’s already in Modern, what’s already in Standard, what’s already been left on The New Revised Reserved List, and what I see the latter as.

{Also super secret tech against Changelings.}
Suleiman’s Legacy 62, downgraded from to , as it’s far too narrow to be of much use anywhere other than a sideboard.
Price
Suleiman’s Legacy would’ve been an excellent sideboard option during Khans of Tarkir block, that is, if the Djinns and Efreeti were actually any good! Sure, there are some individual hits, but those are more the exceptions that prove the rule of them being extremely minor tribes. I highly doubt that even if Suleiman’s Legacy were reprinted today, the only deck archetype that it’d effect, Monoblue Curious Obsession Tempo, would even suffer much of a blip because of it. Most of the time, they barely even need their Tempest Djinns to close out the game.

{Much like abusing the Filibuster Rule1, it only takes one asshole to ruin things for everyone.}
Teferi’s Realm138
Price
Here’s all the strikes against Teferi’s Realm beyond just phasing, assuming multiplayer:
1) Best-case scenario: Player A (for Asshole 1) casts Teferi’s Realm, and if it isn’t immediately Dissipated for any reason, like it should be, all other players agree to choose the permanent type that would render it moot the greatest possible time and amount. Congratulations, Player A, insert DJ Khaled meme here, ‘cause you just cast a useless card.
2) Worst-case scenario: Player A (for Asshole 1) casts Teferi’s Realm, and if it isn’t immediately Dissipated for any reason, like it should be, all players decide “everybody for themself”, and each player proceeds to choose the permanent type that would most fuck with and ruin errbody’s plans the greatest possible time and amount. Congratulations, your game has just become a hellscape of bitter, petty brinksmanship, one-upping, hatred, distrust--you’ve become the gop under trump & the tea party: power, at any cost, for its own sake, fuck everything else.
3) Something in between, the most realistic scenario: Player A (for Asshole 1) casts Teferi’s Realm, and if it isn’t immediately Dissipated for any reason, like it should be, most of the other players cooperate, but some number of Player A2s, for whatever reason, decide to be the other asshole and fuck with the table. You now have all the problems with phasing, and human nature, laid bare for all to see, like Autopsy Night at the Juri Review.

{I’m glad now has this sort of “impulsive draw”2 effect, as it fleshes out ’s portion of the color pie and gives some much needed card draw.}
Three Wishes 194, downgraded from to , to match Light Up the Stage & Act on Impulse.

Aside from color and card type, is there really any difference between Three Wishes and Act on Impulse?

I’m sorry, but there are a few cards in here that obviously aren’t what we’re looking for, even if they meet the given criteria.

Undiscovered Paradise 197
Price
As long as I draw breath, I will look for possible additions to this deck. Undiscovered Paradise seems like it’d be a good fit. I’d make a Mean Girls reference right here (or in the Footnotes), but as I’ve yet to see that movie, I don’t think it’d be appropriate for me to do so, no matter how apropos the scene may be.

Viashivan Dragon 198, downgraded from to (to be reprinted alongside Kyscu Drake and Spitting Drake, who are both to be downgraded from to ), for all the reasons mentioned in Gatherer.
Price
Look, I’m pretty sure we’ve done this sort of “A+B=See the giant monster come to kill errthing” before. I’m just a bit too lazy & tired to go searching for them all rn.
If you’ve ever played Monster Master or Magic and Tactic, or you’ve got love for Brisela, Voice of Nightmares, you know how this goes.
Viashivan Dragon is disappointingly underpowered, and in no way belongs on The Reserved List. It’d make a decent for Limited, though.
