pacifistwestwoman Seska "hmmphs" before flicking at the air with her sword, another gout of burning-plasma striking at the ground. "Leaving? No, you're not just leaving." {Response Card - Sudden Dismissal } "You're never coming back."The aether behind Dieule flared once more, before making one final, powerful pull against the Phyrexian's form. Wherever, whenever this thing led, it wasn't going to let the Phyrexian go. Sudden Dismissal: 8.5/10 It's a really cool effect, but it shouldn't cost 4. As the aether gave its final tug, oily tendrils rose up again to pull away, leading Dieule to be the rope in a painful game of tug-of-war. "I'm sure it'll take a while, but you'll hear from me again."The tendrils began to grow, and get stronger and stronger before Dieule was no longer visible beneath their grasp. With a large amount of mass and force between Dieule and the maw, the tendrils began pushing themselves and Dieule back underground. Within moments, the creature is gone, with only a few drops of oil left behind. (no attack, as Dieule is leaving)

During one of Lettie's network sweeps, a contact requests clarification on the summoner's age, stating that they witnessed someone similar, but who appeared far too old to be a student. Following an argument over possible explanations and mistakes, Lettie decides that it would be best if she saw this person for herself. At some point, The Unraveller might notice that they are being followed and wordlessly observed.Informing Dodger Creature — Human Rogue Whenever another creature dies, you gain 1 life. test It was fortunate for the one who was following Seska that she did not appear to have some form of companion at her side, as was oft expected of her younger counterpart. It was unfortunate then, when a chill passed over Lettie, which was followed their mark stopping in their tracks, their sword seeming to flick out from beneath their clothing in a single movement, and then turning around to face her. Directly. Red hair, longer now, and a few shades darker, but undeniably familiar. The sword and her overall garb were new, but from the look they were giving Lettie, it was clear who it was. A spirit coalesced beside the woman, ghostly sword standing out from the rest of it's ethereal form, pointing directly at Lettie. {Response Card - Ethereal Duelist} Informin Dodger: I'm reminded of Insolent Neotate, but this has a bit more value and cost. I like it though, 9/10

I like it though, 9/10 //Chat agreement says that this takes place in a forest. Lettie steps into the open, a few wisps of black vapor trailing from her as she moves. There's a slight twitch about her eyes as she glares at the woman, and her speech is monotone, halting, yet deliberate. "I see. It would... seem one... of us has encountered a significant temporal anomaly, such as is the nature of this place. I have... heard no tales of irresponsibility since, so I must congratulate you on your... growth." The leaves scattered across the ground crackle as they begin to rapidly decompose, and the branches on the nearby barren trees creak and subtly bend. "Given this new...found control, you... should be able to order your companion to stow that blade, before... someone comes to harm."Barren Ancient Creature — Treefolk When Barren Ancient enters the battlefield, choose a creature you control. Put a number of cards from the top of your library into your graveyard equal to that creature's power. Then, you may return a creature or land card from your graveyard to your hand. 3/5 Ethereal Duelist — Seems to expect two or three triggers to get its value back, and it's a neat use of black's flash. 9/10

test Seska maintained the stare, but her companion held it's blade down...if not departing completely. "I would say if either of us had encountered something akin to that, it would have to be myself," Seska answered. It was clear from her voice she had aged quite a bit since the two had last met, although how much time had passed for Seska in the same span Lettie had lived, it was difficult to say. "In any case, here I am. I imagine if you aren't planning on assaulting me, you'll want to somehow gloat over how right you were about how the world works." {Response Card - Time Slip} Barren Ancient: 10/10, really great Green card and a unique Eternal Witness effect.

Lettie crosses her arms, and the trees become still once more, though it seems nothing can save the leaves now. "Neither. As a matter of en...forcing my ultimatum, I... have been watching you, albeit in...directly. Just now, I had only planned to directly confirm... the identity of one who... almost perfectly matched a now outdated description, save for their age. With... that in mind, my initial purpose here is concluded." She nods, and stares through the spirit. "However... now I must... wonder, why, after so many years, you... have returned. Seeing as you are hardly the same per...son, per...haps you will no longer be the same problem. Now then... what is your pur...pose?"Vain Nametaker Creature — Human Rogue As Vain Nametaker enters the battlefield, choose a nonland card name. When Vain Nametaker dies, target player reveals their hand and discards all cards with the chosen name. 2/1 "Nobody mentions... my name!" Time Slip — Slight mistemplate, since it might not be controlled by "your opponent". You probably meant to say the "owner". This card compares rather poorly to the likes of Unsubstantiate, and isn't a particularly efficient flicker when used on your own. However, it does respond to my card, presumably by responding to the trigger by taking out my largest creature. 6/10

test Seska similarly stared back, though obviously not on the verge of striking, still grasping their sword in one hand. Her brow furrowed at the question, more so than it had at the preceding series of statements Lettie had, regarding her observation. It was obvious though Seska had, ultimately, changed with time, she hadn't returned with fond memories of Lettie herself. "Because my home is not the place it used to be," she answered, curtly. {Response Card - Toil of Warfare} Vain Nametaker: A unique twist on things like Kitesail Freebooter, I like it. 8/10

She shakes her head. "No. I am sorry for your loss. Neither of us made the world the way that it is, and... every confirmation of that is... an inevitable tragedy." She shifts her weight, in preparation to leave. "Some...thing else... yes, I only recalled... just now. I appreciate... appreciated your intent behind the familiar. It was very kind of you. Welcome to your new home... goodbye." She steps back through the veil, leaving Seska with only the foul traces of miasma. Toil of Warfare — Immediate development concern, since this is going to be at least a dead weight at the first attack, which is already a good card, and it also causes berserking on top of that. Otherwise, it's a nice bend of red's pie. 7/10

gurfafflekins Despite the scent of burning, and the clear signs of it, nothing appeared to be actively on fire as the trail reached an end. Whatever had been here, it seemed to have... A bright flash erupted in the sky above, casting glaring red light in region. When had it become night? The source glared angrily from high in the air, and an uneasy feeling began to permeate the area... Highlighted on a nearby hill, as if the light was behind them, was a figure, standing at the crest of the land form. A likely suspect for both the trail and the burning ball of hate, if any. {Response Card - Blazing Constellation} Wandering Scout: Red bear with upside? I suppose this is fine. 7/10

Popcornia Blazing Constellation: I think the way this is worded leaves red creatures out of the haste bonus? Which is probably intended as the next bit has red doing damage. I do like this card actually, more than originally when I first read it. 9/10. Hilda looks around, spotting the figure against the blazing sky. When had it become night? Either way, despite the glaring orange, Hilda snapped her fingers to create a lighter fireball for better light. She walked to the figure, the fireball becoming a wisp that floats around her and drawing her spear. Wisp Familiar Creature - Elemental Flying When ~ dies, it deals 1 damage to any target. 1/1

gurfafflekins The light above slowly died, but the figure outlined did not, the corona around them seeming to grow stronger as Hilda approached. But it stopped just before the point of blinding, before retracing its luminescent fury, and allowed Hilda to see the outline of the spell's owner. A woman, hooded, wielding what seemed to be a sword with flame licking at the blade. A mix of robes and armor, with a cloak that went billowed behind her. The sword stayed at her side, but as she turned to face Hilda. "...What are you doing here?"{Response Card - Pain Flare} Wisp Familiar: Sure. 7/10. It's not too exciting, but could exist.

There was a crack of lightning in the night, roaring over the sound of pouring rain and boisterous waves. The sea churned, sending white spray into the air as the expanse of water frothed at the will of the storm, searching for something, anything, to release its fury upon. A shoreline in the distance, obscured in darkness, was claimed by the luckier brethren of the surging waters, their wrath extinguished upon unremitting sand, stone, and a series of cliffs that dominated the border between the open ocean and land. The sky split open as lightning struck again, tearing across the surf as it struck saltwater, raging its fury upon the body of water in its struggle against the world. Thunder rolled across the world, and the crackle of further storm threatened to rampage through the night when… Something shifted in the space between seconds, the laws of physics bending and snapping as they were interrupted for the briefest of moments. The storm, at its peak, suddenly broke as water and air were displaced in moments, a massive, wide shape breaching into the world and sending up a wake of water, cutting through the waves and carving across the ocean. Ramparts of wood and steel dashed away the spray of water as it jutted into the world, curving up away from the water until it reached a perimeter towered above the waves. Spires of wood shot into the sky, and massive cloths of black were strung between them, catching some remnant of the dying wind, and propelling the vessel forward. It was a ship. {Crownwell, the Doomsail} Artist Credit: Phil C.The sight of death would dominate any unfortunate observer who peered upon the deck, a crew of men and women whose skin held no life in it. They resembled living things, walked, and were clothed like them, but they did not speak, except in guttered growls and moans. Their eyes glowed red with depth, a curse of hunger that would not be sated, the burden of nothing but one of undeath. At the helm of the vessel, standing behind the wheel of the ship, was a figure who stood out from the undead crew around her. Her skin, though smooth as anything living, was paler than ash, and her eyes glowed with the same hunger of her crew. She peered out towards the direction of the land, no beacon, no fire in the night to hint at its presence, but her gaze was true, pointing towards it truer than a compass arrow. She bit at her lip, a hand gripping the wheel and turning it, the other arm missing its respecting hand, and sending the ship on a course diagonal to the mainland. “Hard to port! Prepare long boats and raiding parties! Get me a reading on the beacon! And get the hell to work!” Her voice boomed into the night, and her undead crew made haste to obey. The woman watched them in their work for a time, leaning upon the wheel, her red eyes scanning the vessel up and down. There was work to be done, and if they were lucky, rewards for the bold. --- Kadri Blueswale has entered the Arena.

Kadri was likely accustomed to rats being aboard her ship. She was likely not accustomed to meter-tall rats in dirty purple coats being aboard her ship, and yet here one stood, wearing a bag filled with rolls of paper, swords, a harp, and who knew what else. "Eyyyy, you look like a lady who likes treasure, am I right, or am I right?" the rat asks. "I have in my hands a gen-u-wine treasure map for this here plane here, and it can be yours for the low low price of five doubloons! Get it while it's hot!" Suspicious Treasure Map Artifact Whenever an artifact creature you control attacks, put a charge counter on Suspicious Treasure Map. When you cast a spell with in its mana cost, sacrifice Suspicious Treasure Map. cajun Vermin, perhaps. Rats, that stood a meter tall? And were trying to filch her something of dubious quality and value? Well, there were stranger things to be seen. And of course, there was the fact this one had managed to sneak aboard her ship. Half a score of swords were quickly flashed and pointed towards the intruder, their undead wielders having appeared from what seemed like nowhere at all. Kadri, thankfully, did not seem to have joined them, but the look she was giving this peddler was less than generous. "Describe this treasure, then we can discuss terms."{Response Card - Skeleton Crew} Skeleton Crew - Creature - Skeleton Pirate , : Target Vehicle you control becomes an artifact creature with base power and toughness 2/2 until end of turn. 2/1 "Crewing" the Crownwell, obviously. Suspicious Treasure Map: A weird card that asks you to run artifact creatures (not the worst thing to ask for a deck running artifacts, but the Vehicle tribal is noted) and cards with . It is pretty cheap for being that specific, and has a pretty decent payoff. 6/10

"Well that's just it, I don't know what the treasure is, and I ain't got me own boat to go'n see!" He slightly unfurls the map, which shows an accurate depiction of the Arena coastline, as well as a hastily drawn picture of the Crownwell next to what appears to be a triangle with a happy face on it. A dashed line leads from the boat, noticeably splitting in three directions at the edge of the visible section. "But look, see? Me nose knows they's treasure about, and it ain't never been wrong!" A figure strides among the lifeless, deathless, endless excavators, leaving no footprints on the sand behind them, unbreathing so as to seem just another dead crewmate to the horde. Yet to the captain, they could not stand out more—their coat belted rakishly, their movements agile and purposeful, their stare that of an explorer assessing the fruits of their journey. Silently, they study the working undead, as if attempting to suss out the purpose behind their monotonous digging.Lost, Drowned, Seeking Enchantment — Omen (As this Omen enters, you get a doom counter. cajun Kadri watches Zweil trail towards the edge of the ship, letting out a sigh before she turned away, the sound of her boots against the deck as she ascended to the ship's wheel. The undead crew, who had been in background, milling about with mechanical, unfocused labor, began to stir as Kadri took the wheel, preparing to take orders. She looked at the map, holding it in her good hand while leaning against the wheel, not impressed by the seemingly crude depictions, but she wasn't upset by it. No, her eyes focused on it for a long while, before she blinked, and stood up, tucking it away into a satchel before her hand grabbed a spoke of the wheel. The Eye it was then, whatever that might be. "Prepare to depart! Trim sails and bring her into the wind!" Her voice boomed over the deck, and likely into the lower levels as well, as the undead crew began to move into action, the sound of bodies and wood creaking as the ship came to life, beginning to move at the captain's wishes. There was treasure to be found, and if she weren't in it for that, what else was there? {Response Card - Unburied Grounds} Unburied GroundsLand : Add , : Sacrifice Unburied Grounds: Draw a card. When Unburied Grounds is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, create a 2/2 Zombie creature token. Getaway: Functionally weird, and technically this is just a more permanent form of fixing in red, this would raise some eyebrows elsewhere, but mechanically I think its fine. The ideal case of course is to search for another fetchland or utility land, which makes it useful, but not necessarily expedient, in terms of ramp combos. 7/10. I like the play pattern.

pacifistwestwomanThe depths were disturbed by something unnatural. This would not do. Kadri's eyes flicked across the water, attempting to follow the signs of whatever had chosen to prowl these waters, especially so close to her vessel. The odd movement of the waves, the feel of the water around the ship. It felt... "Meatsacks to the deck! Harpoons at the ready! Get moving you dead men walking!" She yelled out to her crew, many of them already at work around the ship, but the slew of orders inspiring more movement in their undead bodies. Below the deck, the sound of shuffling became apparent, before a hatch opened, and a small group of zombies, likewise pirates, and wielding a set of harpoons, made their way to the top deck. "Eyes on the water! Keep those harpoons ready. Keep the sails in the wind! And get us out of these waters!" She grimaced as she gave the order, knowing full well this was not a fight she should have ended up in the first place. Her hand grasped the spoke of the wheel with a deadman's grip as she spun, with the intent to take the ship away from the shore. The next few moments would tell how well this would work. {Response Card - Departed Diver} Departed Diver - Creature - Zombie Ward Whenever Departed Diver attacks, draw a card. 1/3 Darkbolt: Neat. 8/10. This is in line with Dreadbore and isn't too controversial.

cyberchronometer There was a tolerance, perhaps, for the stray outsider, who did not interfere, but merely observed. If they weren't in the way, and most certainly not likely to interrupt their proceedings, so be it. This was a different case. The water licked at her heels as she stepped toward the figure, a storm rumbling in the background as the undead crew dug at the sands just a bit ahead. This land was still strange and new, and it was better for the moment to see what places, and people, it was filled with. With a mote of caution, of course. {Response Card - Wurmsea Stormcaller} Wurmsea Stormcaller - Creature - Human Pirate Wizard Flash When Wurmsea Stormcaller enters the battlefield, exile another target nonland permanent, then return it to the battlefield tapped under its owner’s control. 1/2 *Have another Omen counter, I like where this is going. Lost, Drowned, Seeking: 8/10. I like the mechanical idea, but I can't judge this very well beyond the effects and the understanding you need more Omens to make this work better.

cajun Kadri watches Zweil trail towards the edge of the ship, letting out a sigh before she turned away, the sound of her boots against the deck as she ascended to the ship's wheel. The Crownwell sails on, meeting the islands marked on the map. As she traverses the narrows between the islands, a large boulder comes flying, landing in the water ahead of the ship with a tremendous splash. On the Eye island stands a 40-foot cyclops, who somehow escaped noticed until its attack. It hefts up another boulder and tries to take aim. Suddenly A Cyclops Attacks! Instant Choose one — • Attack It Head On — This spell deals 4 damage to target attacking creature. • Blind It — Tap target creature and put two -1/-1 counters on it. • Find a Hiding Spot — You and creatures you control gain protection from target creature until end of turn.
and when i say somehow i mean magic ✨Unburied Grounds - 8/10
