Previous rounds are archived below.
You follow this stranger's directions to the specified location, coordinates and plane and find yourselves in a most-dreary looking place.
There are corpses everywhere of all sorts of different types. Mangled corpses, fresh corpses, skeletal corpses, half-decayed ones, you get the idea. Besides that, the soil is sandy and mostly unpleasant - doesn't seem like life of any time could grow here. What few ferns that lie in the ground are withered and deflated like balloons. But the smell is strong, almost choking. It smells like corpses, rot and dust, but mostly corpses and rot. This is of course, expected, given the environment. This is also expected because you're on Valdheim, and Valdheim is not a happy place.
A voice alerts you to their presence. It's that female voice, the one that spoke when you read the letter.
"Oh yeah, my name. Name's Vera, and I've brought you here. Sorry about the smell. Anyways, you might be wondering why I'd pick Valdheim of all places. Well... you see, it's the only place with a functioning Time-Ring in it that I know of. For those of you unaware, a Time-Ring is a circular granite structure that allows for the simultaneous use of time travel and planeswalking at the same time. And given that the Book we're looking for is neither here nor now, this is necessary. May as well kill two drakes with one spear, yeah?"
She gestures her hands to a large gray circle of stone that is defying gravity. It's cracked, on the verge of falling apart. And yet it's being held together. Maybe it's magic. Maybe it's good craftsmanship. Maybe it's just luck.
"Anyways, the Time-Ring here is actually not under protection. We just need to contend with the wildlife trying to maul us apart. But compared to the enforcers on Kassova or the anaerobic atmosphere on Jurmanga, that's nothing. After all, y'all seem to be a strong bunch and should be fine. For a few moments. Because if we don't power the Time-Ring in time..." It's actually wild unlife, but the semantic failure goes unnoticed by Vera.
In the distance, a pack of horrible things snarl in the distance. "They're coming, yeah. I'll give you guys some ground to work with, but if we're gonna survive this, then we'd best power that portal and kill these things so they don't follow us..." If Vera's nervous, it sure doesn't show. The corpses around you crumble to dust, leaving a smooth canvas of cold hard ground. It smells more like dust than anything now.

Some notes:
- It is your turn right now.
- You will need to power the portal! There are two ways to accomplish this:
1) Effects that produce mana can be spent on the portal.
2) For every one mana your created card is below your CMC limit, you can add one mana of any of your colors to power the Time-Ring. For example, if a
character with CMC 6 made a CMC 3 card, they would be able to add three mana in any combination of
and/or
to powering the Time-Ring.
- For the purposes of this challenge, you are all noncreature permanents (planeswalkers). If you are forced to sacrifice with Root Grappler, you will need to sacrifice yourselves or the Time-Ring.
- You have one (1) turn to complete this challenge. You go, and then the enemies will attack you. You start with 20 life, but damage persists between rounds.
- The missing information is censored in this way because typing multiple question marks in a row creates an emoji, so I didn't want to deal with that.
- The two separate enemy spoilers denote separate controllers.

PART 2
The Time-Ring whirrs to life in the nick of time, and all of you jump in without hesitation. Fortunately, all of you make into the portal before the next wave of wolves and horrors come along.
Traveling to a different time zone is shocking unpleasant, for all the mana you've spent on it. There's a lot of vertigo and dizziness. Thankfully there's no jet-lag, but that's the least of your concerns as you arrive on a seemingly endless marble floor. It's just flat all the way around. To the north, there is marble and grey sky. To the south, there is marble and grey sky. To the east, there is marble and grey sky. And to the west, could it be? Sitting atop a marble pedestal in the backdrop of the grey sky, there's a book! A book?!
Vera gasps. "Wow, I didn't expect that to be so easy."
"Yeah, you didn't," Vera replies. Around you, you see yourselves and an echoing voice boom around all of you. "Impressive, getting into Xerex's Infinity Matrix. You'd need time travel to get into here. You should all be proud of yourselves. Our defenses are very much... not adequate for extraplanar invaders. However, extraplanar invaders are good defenses against other extraplanar invaders. I think you see where this is going."
In the grey sky, a thousand bluish black eyes light up. "Or maybe you're all dunces and you don't see where this is going. Either way, you've seen too much. Prepare to die."
The book begins turning pages. As it flips through the multitudinous chapters, you can swear that it's speaking through the ruffling of the sheets. In the face of the mirror images, Vera is shaking. Unmoving. Horrified. Mortified. So are Rian and Hanska, for that matter. It's probably something magical, but breaking it probably involves shattering the mirror image somehow.

ROUND 3
The book sits alone on the pedestal and Vera excitedly opens it. "Alright, thanks guys, this is great, just great." She begins reading through it, sifting through pages like a child would through a kid's book. Her face slowly turns to one of disappointment, though, as she realizes that one of the chapters are missing. "Guys, we're missing a single chapter - but it's the most important one."
She turns towards the Time-Ring and begins to recalibrate it - thankfully, there's still some juice left in the thing.
"So, we're gonna go see an old friend of mine. He's pretty good with this kind of stuff, but the ride might be a bit bumpy. I mean, he was. Before he died in a laboratory accident a few years ago. Thankfully, that's what time travel is for, right? Right?" Vera's eyes water a little bit as more than just a little bit of sadness escapes her voice.
The Time-Ring whirs to life and you find yourselves hurtling through the Blind Eternities. She clears her throat - but not entirely - her voice is clear, but there's the slightest tremor to it. "Alright, brace yourselves."
And you do. Only to realize that you're falling six hundred feet to the peaceful park below.
