Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and fifty-sixth challenge!

For this week's challenge, we'll go all the way back to one of Magic's first introduced evergreen abilities back in Alpha, which is still used to this day: First Strike! Your challenge is simple: Design a card that either has, grants, hates on or otherwise interacts with First Strike!Have fun, everyone!

Swift Earthcrafter  Creature - Human Druid  First strike Lands you control have first strike if they are creatures. Lands you control have indestructible if they are not creatures. 3/4 can't think of a better creature type than wizard - welcoming suggestions Edit: I like Spellshaper, thank you melono and kefke Edit2: I hate it when other people are right kefke - changed to Druid

Man, this feels like it would be an interesting keyword. Sure Strike (If a creature dealt damage by this creature has a remaining toughness greater than 0, you may pay X where X is the difference. If you do, destroy that creature.)

gurfafflekins, melono - I somehow missed this earlier, but I don't think Spellshaper works. It's a subtype strongly tied to a mechanic. Spellshapers are like the Magus wizards, for instants and sorceries. Every previous incarnation has replicated an old spell by having you pay the original card's casting cost, and discard a card from your hand, as though they were "shaping" the discarded card into their spell of choice. Dreamscape Artist is a particularly unusual example, though. It wasn't one of Planar Chaos' planeshifted cards, but it was spellshaping a planeshifted card - a blue Harrow, which is why it interacts with lands.

Some fighters can rely on their speed to strike first, but only a few can then rely on their speed to get in a defensive state if the opponent is able to strike back. And only a Sergeant can teach this art to his companions.  {Card with wrong wording}  Kinda a first strike lord who rewards every creature with first strike on its own right off the bat, but knowing of the nicheness of a first strike theme I happily added some granting power as well. |

I just wanted to mention defensive stance, because your ability reminded me of it. there's no conflict at all. In fact, you're welcome to use it if you want, just remember to credit me for it. Also, there's already a card with a similar ability to defensive stance: Karn, Silver Golem.
p.s. Defensive stance works REALLY well with double strike+Doran, the Siege Tower.
