Every story needs a villain, and Vikalden has been assuming that role for the past 10 years. Started as a refugee from a shithole plane, defined by problems with mana and constant fluctuation, and found herself unwillingly in the employ of House Dimir shortly after her first planeswalk. Once she found a way out of the House's mind control, Vikalden left Ravnica with a plethora of lethal knowledge and a desire to leverage it for personal gain. A criminal mastermind and occasional mass murderer, Vikalden is not what most folks call "a good person." But there is a cool motive for all the murder, it just doesn't come up very often. |

Okus picked up its head from the page it was failing to read. There was suddenly black mana. Everywhere. Something big was happening, and given the nature of the Arena, likely a newcomer was causing it. Time to introduce ourselves.
A little girl skips up to the newcomer in the suit. "Hi lady." Her eyes squinted as she scanned over Vikalden. "I don't think I've seen you around before! Whatcha doing here?"First Contact  Enchantment  Whenever First Contact or another permanent enters the battlefield, you may pay  . If you do, scry 1. #2. Always be on the scene before anyone else, including the suspect in question if possible.

Vikalden glanced at the purple haired girl, and although her mask covered her mouth, the corner of her eyes crinkled as if she just smelled something foul. "Opening with an insult is a sign of weakness, Aylin. Or stupidity, I suppose. And I don't make a habit of introducing myself to losers." Callous Disregard  Sorcery Each opponent sacrifices two creatures. "I'm sorry, did you scream something?"
Person of Interest — Feels a bit too narrow. I think you could add "or ability" to it pretty easily. 8/10
As the young child bounced up to her, Vikalden couldn't help but smile. What on earth was a kid this young doing in a (presumably violent) place like this? "Hello," she said, a hint of warmness entering her voice. "I'm new. My name is Vikalden, what's yours?" Deadly Vapors Enchantment Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, it's controller loses 1 life. At the beginning of each end step, if a creature died this turn, you may pay . If you do, scry 1. "We're all dying. Some of us are just doing it faster."
First Contact — Neat. Would pose logistical annoyances in clients with rules enforcement though (MTGO, Arena, Xmage). 8/10 |

If you don't, each player reveals their hand and discards all cards named this way. "Two can keep a secret, if they both have enough dirt on the other."Inquiring Minds — This naming Island feels developmentally dangerous. If you couldn't name lands, I'd be fully on board. 8/10 |

Callous Disregard is pretty cool, and I applaud your ingenuity in responding to the challenge in an out-of-the-box way. Card seems a bit on the powerful side compared to Barter in Blood but I've been toying with the idea of pushing that card for a while, so strong design deserving of a 9/10. Aylin clenches her teeth at the insult but bites her tongue before saying anything. She is already hellbent on destroying someone, she can't waste her efforts on someone else right now...
"In my experience, opening with a joke is a good way of testing someone's personality" she says after taking a deep breath to calm her nerves "Apparently yours is that of someone who hides behind a mask and words but nothing more and guess what, that's boring. And I don't make a habit of meddling with boring people , so enjoy yourself, I'm too busy setting something important in motion to waste my time on you..."
The geomancer turns around and begins walking with an evidently artificial calm. She may not have gotten a name, but once Kirino is dealt with she may return to deal with this insolent giarb.

I think it's maybe not the best counter when I've seen your hand though :^) 8/10(and re: Inquisitive minds, had thought of that but made it trigger only on opp's cards instead of nonlands. perhaps it would be good splitting the difference at nonbasic )

"You ooze power, but, by Levya's grace", Hyle gags a little, covering her mouth with her hand and dissimulating it with a fake sneeze, "it's like you're covered in entrails. Who in the worlds are you? What are you here to do?" The intimidated mermaid realises she ran her mouth without thinking, blinded by the magic emanating from the other woman, and gasps. "I am Hyle Seritani. Here on vacation. I like the rivers. The rest of the plane isn't so bad either. We could probably get along, but I was a bit thrown off by the magic surrounding you just now."
Tense Meeting Instant  Tap target creature you don't control and target creature you control. Those creatures don't untap during their controllers' next untap step. Draw a card.

If, and I do mean if, you ever find yourself in a similar situation, and you want out, just let me know. I will be there immediately, and I doubt anyone would be able to stop me from getting you out of there." Grimoire is a pretty fantastic effect and tacking on a drain to that for 1 less cmc seems pretty dubious. 7/10

She'd spent so much effort butchering them and getting the massacre immortalized in song that this random cop dismissing it entirely was just utterly unacceptable. Death Before Birth Instant If a green or white creature would enter the battlefield this turn, instead put it into its owner's graveyard. " Some things don't deserve to live, and haven't earned the right to die." Unerring Chainer — I actually really like this design, I think this is a great way to do color hate. 10/10

His spear's tip glowed a soft white, reverberating slightly.Wary Lieutenant Creature - Human Soldier When ~ enters the battlefield, create a 1/1 white soldier creature token. Sacrifice another creature: ~ gains protection from black until end of turn. "You - yes you, Johnston - go do some scouting for me."2/2 edit: white sacrificing creatures? Damn I goofed on this one. The only edit is this, saying that I realized I dun goofed and will accept that sweet, sweet low score

It took everything to hold me back. The hat got a seam splitting scream instead. I want out. Please, you have to hear me, get me out now, I want
"Aww, maybe some other time then." the hat interrupted shrugged. "I don't know about no organizations, but if you want to see me again, I'm usually around here somewhere looking out for people!" They skipped away just as cheerfully as they had arrived, though not quite as collected.
Once out of sight, Okus doubled back. It needed to see where she was heading without her seeing them.

Whenever an opponent casts a spell, they discard a card. Then if a player has no cards in hand, abandon this scheme.
Shared Agony - whew this is nice, but a bit terrifying due to being a "Whenever", two of these can empty hands, wipe the board, or end the game if you lose 1 life. Also a bit odd that the wording means "Sacrifice a creature" or w/e specific turns into "Sacrifice a permanent" 9/10

Mechanically the condition and colour combination make this really unique. It's not the kind of card that goes in every set but I feel like I should still give this 10/10

Hyle tries to convince herself that Vikalden must be just a simple mercenary, just like that elf Rekal she had recruited. It's not working well, but, to her credit, she's trying. She assumes a pensive expression, furrowing her brow, and tries to concentrate on how to be helpful instead. "If the person you're looking for is a planeswalker, there's some people around here... the Seventh Circle, I think they're called... they rescue stranded planeswalkers, have some info on the relative safety of various planes, et cetera... I believe they might be able to help in that case. Their base is not far from here. I think their leader on this plane is a man with horns, Mister Ba'alzur. There's something odd about that place, though. The front door got mysteriously blown up recently. I wonder what's up with that..."
Curbing Suspicion Instant Shuffle all cards from your hand into your library. You draw that many cards and target player puts that many cards from the top of their library into their graveyard. |

Death Before Birth: This doesn't compare super favorably to say, Deathmark - it costs more and has a timing restriction in exchange for circumventing creature features. Not really a fan. 5.5/10. "I didn't expect it to be, but someday - you will be caught."
