sdfkjgh you know that each end step means that if you cast Not-So-Secret Santa while you opponent is out tapped, they lose instantly, right? Yes. That's why office secret santa is stupid, because they WILL fire you for not participating.

Otherwhere Gate Legendary Artifact--Gate : Add . You may look at the top card of your library. You may play land cards from the top of your library. You may play land cards from your graveyard. You may play land cards you own from exile. For each zone of graveyard, library, and exile, you may play an additional land from that zone this turn if you haven’t already.
Have you ever been on the business end of a Robber of the Rich that kept exiling your lands, keeping you manascrewed, meanwhile, its controller gets to develop their board to their heart's content? Yeah, fuck that card. It really should've had "or controls more permanents than you" added to it, otherwise it feels less like Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, and more like the gop stealing from the poor and giving to the rich.
Anyway, here's a wealth tax:
Commensurate Justice Legendary Enchantment Permanents can’t be sacrificed. At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, the player who controls the greatest number of permanents among players loses X life, where X is the number of permanents they control minus the number of permanents the active player controls.
The anti-sac clause is to prevent Balance-style shenannygoats while the trigger's on the stack.

What would be better than taking an extra turn after this turn? Taking it during this turn or course! Time Sneak Instant Take an extra turn after this step. (The current turn is continued after the extra turn. If any creatures are attacking or blocking, they continue to attack or block after the extra turn.) “Wait, what was I just doing?” —Squat, Beeblemaster’s apprenticeOf course this is silver-bordered.

After the flavor test of my last post, I was wondering "Who the heck is Beeblemaster???" If you were wondering as well, wonder no more: Beeblemaster the Crazed Legendary Creature - Squid Wizard As Beeblemaster the Crazed enters the battlefield, create two 1/1 blue Beeble creature tokens. Beeblehome (If defending player controls no Beebles, this creature cannot attack. If you control no Beebles, sacrifice this creature.)Beebles you control get +1/+1. : Any number of target players create a 1/1 blue Beeble creature token. 3/3 Beeblemaster’s Apprentice Creature - Human Wizard , , Return Beeblemaster’s Apprentice to its owner’s hand: Until end of turn, if a Beeble would die, return it to its owner’s hand instead. If it was a token, until it enters a zone other than the stack, it doesn’t cease to exist and it costs . 1/2 Rules clarification: When the Beeble token enters the battleifeld, it also doesn't cease to exist, because there is no rule that says so.

Wouldn't the token go onto the stack when you cast it, and thus cease to exist?

It's supposed to cease everywhere else. Not on the stack because the apprentice says so and not on the battlefield because nothing tells it to cease.

It seems I misread, but in that case, wouldn't you be unable to cast it because it couldn't go to your hand? Your hand is, after all, a zone that is not the stack.

odivesco: Interesting idea, but the name doesn't exactly match the execution. I read "Wind-Up", I expect something like Brass Gnat, or the Clockwork creatures (except the Gnomish outliers). To be sure, the card concept is powerful, and is a novel enough representation of a Dragon's breath weapon that I wish it could be done in black border, but for top-down designs, sometimes it's a very fine tightrope wire you must walk between concept, name, and players' expectations of the former two.
There's an easy fix, and a more complicated fix (which I wouldn't recommend): Easy) Change the name; Complicated) Add the abilities of Brass Man or one of the Clockwork creatures.

(I'm sure there's a better way to explain it). Anyway my concept was a "ridiculously" powerful card with a chance based mechanic and silly looking art, sort of like Yu-gi-oh's cartoon monsters but with MTG's level of rendering. Since this idea seemed wacky to me, I thought it belonged in a silver board set but I kinda designed it as a standard black board card. You're right though, I see how the name can evoke something different to what I intended to, I take it you picture a clockwork dragon, right? while my original idea was more like one of those tin toys you wind up and they move... but instead it's a god damn dragon! lol. how should I call it?

Sorry guys, here's yet another card lol. This time I thought of making the mightiest creature ever, the idea here is a creature that'd always be the creature with the greatest power, of course I made it so in only compares with other creatures to avoid having an infinit loop when a copy with the same name is on the battlefield, I have no idea how to call it nor how much should it cost but there it is. odivesco a little while back someone made a similar card, and Sakashima the Impostor was brought up as a way to break it by having 2 copies. The end result was that it was complicated but didn’t break the game due to timestamp rules, but the */*’s you have might break in situations like that since they’re checked differently from +X/+X. Also, IMO 2 mana for something that’s definitely the biggest thing on the board is too strong.

Post by odivesco on Oct 16, 2020 11:54:46 GMT
gluestick248 yep I though that 2 mana is too low for a creature that aims to grows relative to the board, I'm thinking it should at least have a cmc of 4 be it or , I guess the drawback to it is that if there's no other creature on the battlefield or if the creature with the greatest power is a wall (lol) then it's just gonna be a 1/1, for 4 mana that'd be seemingly "underwhelming", it does balances out considering every time a stronger creature comes into play it grows. Regarding Sakashima the Impostor, I did think of that, creatures like her or Lazav would easily bypass this creature's "caveat". Guess I should write something like... "*Card name*'s power and toughness are both equal to the greatest power among creatures on the battlefield other than *Card name* or any copy of it, plus one." the card is already wordy enough, so why not?

It seems I misread, but in that case, wouldn't you be unable to cast it because it couldn't go to your hand? Your hand is, after all, a zone that is not the stack. Huh. You caught me there... I think. My idea was that the effect prevents the token from ceasing after it moves it. Not sure though if the rules really work this way. Also not sure if silver-border cares if the rules support this X) As far as I know, after the ability resolves the state based actions check for tokens somewhere outside the battlefield. So the token would stay until then.

odivesco I’m not sure the game can track what’s a copy of what, especially if it changes its name. Flo00 the easy fix would be to make the tokens into cards, like Time Sidewalk

Cradle to the Grave? Can to can't? How about this one:
Womb Instant If a creature would enter the battlefield this turn, it instead enters the battlefield with two additional +1/+1 counters on it at the beginning of the next end step. =================================================================== Tomb Instant Aftermath Choose target creature with power of 4 or greater. Its owner shuffles it into their graveyard.
Note that this isn't the same as destroy or dies, so those effects won't trigger. It's just in the graveyard and no longer on the battlefield.
Unrelated--have some backlog cards:
Spectral Trickery Instant Target spell becomes the color or colors of your choice. You may choose new targets for that spell.
What can all you Spikes do with this:
Deepscry Instant Look at the card in your library X from the top. You may put that card on the bottom of your library. Draw a card.
With X=0, it's "just" another Opt, but at higher values? What can you do with it?
Limiting Engine Artifact All activated abilities have “Activate this ability only once each turn.”
Violent Uprising Sorcery Each creature deals damage equal to its power to its controller.
Yes, potential memory issues, but the people for whom this is designed are going to be paying attention enough not to miss any of it:
Line of Reasoning Sorcery Draw a card. At the beginning of the next turn’s upkeep, draw a card, then discard a card. At the beginning of your next turn, draw two cards, then discard a card and put a card from your hand on top of your library.
Inspired by the battle of Ukraine:
Separate the Risen Sorcery Communal multikicker (Any player may pay an additional any number of times as you cast this spell.) Destroy all creatures. Then, for each time a player kicked this spell, that player returns a creature card from their graveyard to the battlefield. Creatures returned this way are Zombies in addition to their other types.
And, to end it all, how about some Thoughtseize/Vicious Rumors insurance?
Return to Memory Instant Target player searches their hand and library for a card and puts that card on the bottom of their library.

Joe vs the Volcano?
Sacrifice to the Lava Gods Instant Until end of turn, target creature an opponent controls gains indestructible and “This creature must block each combat if able.” Sacrifice to the Lava Gods deals X damage to that creature. Excess damage dealt to that creature this turn is dealt to that creature’s controller instead.
What the hell was I doing, being up at 3 in the morning to come up with this?!
BLANKING IN PROGRESS! Enchantment--Aura Enchant permanent Flash Enchanted permanent loses all abilities, card types, subtypes, and supertypes, and can’t have or gain abilities, card types, subtypes, or supertypes.

Lithoform Blight only makes lose subtypes, not types. I think a card can't a have a subtype asociated with a type it doesn't have. At least that's how I understand this paragraph (next to last sentence): 205.1a Some effects set an object’s card type. In such cases, the new card type(s) replaces any existing card types. Counters, effects, and damage marked on the object remain with it, even if they are meaningless to the new card type. Similarly, when an effect sets one or more of an object’s subtypes, the new subtype(s) replaces any existing subtypes from the appropriate set (creature types, land types, artifact types, enchantment types, planeswalker types, or spell types). If an object’s card type is removed, the subtypes correlated with that card type will remain if they are also the subtypes of a card type the object currently has; otherwise, they are also removed for the entire time the object’s card type is removed. Removing an object’s subtype doesn’t affect its card types at all.

Y'all know how I'm the guy who's always hating on and railing against control? Well have a thing:
Hradek the Denier Legendary Creature--Human Vedalken Wizard Flash Step out (You may cast this from the battlefield by paying its step out cost.) When Hradek the Denier enters the battlefield, choose one. If Hradek the Denier was cast from the battlefield, choose both instead— • You may counter target spell, activated ability, or triggered ability. • You may return another target permanent to its owner’s hand. 3/3

Reading->Half-Squirrel, Half-->"you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield"->"you may draw a card then cast a creature spell from your hand without paying its mana cost if its converted mana cost is equal to the number of cards in your hand"->this:
Omnath, Locus of Power Legendary Creature--Elemental You may cast spells with converted mana cost equal to the number of cards in your hand from your hand without paying their mana costs. 4/5
Remember, by the time you cast a spell this way, it's no longer in your hand, so it can't count towards hand size.
