cyberchronometer I reached into my coat pocket and pulled out my revolver in a split second, aiming right back at his head. I always wear iron. "Takes two to tango, pal. And I'm afraid I can't do that - bad hair day. Can't spoil my reputation before we've introduced ourselves. I'd recommend putting the cannon down before you get hurt." I said, eyes narrowed. I scrutinized him, and something felt wrong. Even more than the obvious threat on my life. I gave a small signal to Kauriga, my index finger tapping the barrel of my gun twice. Hopefully she got the message, but it'd been a while since we'd last worked together.Evidence Shredding Sorcery Destroy all artifacts, then ~ deals damage to target creature or planeswalker equal to the number of artifacts destroyed this way. gurfafflekins — Evidence Shredding: I think this deserves to be "up to one" and possibly also five mana (compare Creeping Corrosion), but I like the design. 8/10Two knives flick into Kauriga's hands, ready to throw, as she glances back and forth between the two. "'Bad hair day?' That's the best you can come up with? I guess you weren't prepared for anyone to track you down. Now make him take you off or I'll blast you off his head.""Severin, stand down. Rolt, what he's driving at is that there's a hat going around that controls minds via contact. I'm afraid I will have to ask you politely to remove your hat and take a step away from it; I doubt it's the same hat, but we've already been infiltrated twice, and I'm not keen on it happening again. I promise we won't judge you for being slightly uglier than usual." Severin keeps the unstable-looking weapon pointed squarely at Rolt's face, but relaxes slightly. Kauriga, the Diplomat Legendary Planeswalker — Kauriga : Kauriga, the Diplomat deals 1 damage to target creature or planeswalker. It can't block this turn. : Target player discards two cards. cyberchronometer I raised an eyebrow. Oh, of course, the hat the ghost of the soldier was talking about. With my revolver still pointed at his head, I slowly opened my other palm to show there were no tricks as I reached for my hat. "I lied, by the way." I said, grinning. As I lifted the hat off and threw it to the ground, my hair was slick and prepared. "I never have bad hair days." I said, still pointing my weapon at him. "Now, how about on the count of three, we all lower our weapons and have a nice little chat. Kapeesh?" Detective's Hat Artifact - Clue Equipment Equipped creature gets +0/+2 and has hexproof. , sacrifice ~: Draw a card. Equip "Never go anywhere without it! Get yours today and solve crime like never before!"(Trying new stuff even if it's destined to end poorly - that's my spirit animal) "1... 2..."Kauriga, the Diplomat: +1 feels fine, -2 I'd compare to Skull Rend, so this could be a T3 but is more likely a T4 Skull Rend type thing, but I don't know if I have many concerns. Still, feels pretty good. -4 feels like a neat little emblem. 8/10.

Continuing from the first half of this. As Hannah, Reyhsia, and I approached Aiden’s shack, I see four familiar and very similar elves carrying a wooden box out of the shack. The lady that runs the bakery is nearby, looking at a big map floating in front of her. She looks over and spots us, then waves us over. The Xirix set the box on the ground, and the baker’s glowing green hand passes over the map, lowering the ground under the box and closing it back on top of it.
Reyhsia sets a hand on my shoulder. "I know how much he meant to you. And I'm sorry that I can't bring him back. But I've been talking with some friends-" "Enough yakking Reyhs," the baker cut off as she stretched her arms and cracked her knuckles. "Party's about to start." Nearby, a green portal vmmed open, and a pole started coming through it, followed by a kithkin, who starting bounding toward us.
The ground lightly rumbled as the baker waved her hand over part of the map. Just beyond where the box had been buried, a large rock formation began building out of the ground, growing until it was nearly as large as the house was. Her eyes glowed green and she threw her arms open, the map growing huge as she did so. Even from here, we could see the stone already on the map somehow. The stone rumbled as she continued moving, the rough face of the rock carving itself into a statue of the sun, rising from the Arena. "What do you say, little intern? Got anything you want to add?" I walked over to her and gave my answer. She grinned. "I can do you one better." One final carving sunk into the center of the sun statue.
Aiden Melody Rose "The sun may set, but we never will."
The baker's arms swept back together. The map shrinks back down, then unfolds to the left and right. I see two more maps draw out on the new sheets. She looks like she pulls something from both of them. On the right of the sun statue, roses start pulling themselves from the earth. On the left, white flowers I'd never seen before did the same, each making a cheerful noise as the petals moved in the wind. The two flowerbeds swept around the statue, flowing into each other over the grave.
Reyhsia stepped up to me, carrying the pole, which I now saw had a banner with a sun attached to it. At her insistence, I take the banner and plant it alongside the flowers, the sun flowing in the wind.
The baker's hand looked like she was locking a door on the map. "There you go, kid. Long as I'm the one holding this map, isn't a thing in the world that's gonna put a scratch on this.""Thank you," I say to everyone. "Thank you," I whisper to him.Aiden of Sunspear Legendary Creature - Spirit Soldier Vigilance, lifelink Other permanents you control have indestructible. cajun I walk up to the commotion - what in the Hells is going on? Then I see a giant statue of the sun and a pole with a sun banner on it. Didn't take a multiverse-class detective to figure this one out. I put out my cigarette and held my hat down to my chest in respect for the dead man. I didn't know him. But surely someone who got all this from some kid and her guardians probably deserved a little respect. I looked towards Karina and the others, giving a respectful nod. Even if she was a pain in my ass.Detective's Favor Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature or planeswalker Whenever a loyalty ability of enchanted permanent is activated, put a loyalty counter on enchanted permanent. Whenever an activated ability of enchanted permanent is activated, tap up to one target creature. "You earned my respect, pal. Not many can say that."
(Enchanting Karina since Aiden has hexproof and also can't really be used anyway) Aiden of Sunspear 2: Short answer? Hell yeah, 10/10. Long answer? Pretty sweet mythic. Doesn't have indestructible itself (tugging at my heart strings), I like the persistence thing, and the third clause seems alright because it's niche but it doesn't depend on it too much also I'm blinded by bias and love 10/10. The spear tip glows slightly as you watch on.

Rolt, if you keep mouthing off every time someone aims a weapon at your face someday you won't have one anymore. Severin, if you think one of our allies is hatted, inform someone in charge before you go after them, and be even slightly sensible about how you do. If I hadn't been here and that had been the hat, it would've shot you with Rolt's gun and none of us would be any the wiser. Hells, if I hadn't been here, Rolt probably would've shot you anyway! I know you're not the best at talking to people, but you can bring backup and let them explain what's going on!" Severin shakes his head, a hand over his face. "Sorry, Mr. Rolt. "Probably shouldn't wear this while I'm here, then." I muttered, sticking the hat into my coat pocket. Didn't feel like it would fit, but I had my ways. I turned to Severin as he apologized. "Don't worry about it. You had an instinct and you followed it. Not best to do it all the time, but I can respect that. And just Rolt will do." I said, putting my hand out, waiting for him to shake my hand."I'm no stranger to hunches, Severin. Now, let me see..." I said, putting a hand to my chin to think. "I won't lie, I don't have a lot of information on this case. What I do know is that this isn't the hat that possess' people, nor is it Malextros." I said, pondering. "The hat doesn't have the capability, and I don't think it particularly eats. Malextros was gone when this happened, and again, his MO wasn't to feed. What else do you have on this case, Kauriga?" I asked, turning to face her, then looking to Severin. "Or you, Severin. Even the smallest detail might make or break this."Detective's Visions Enchantment Players can't cast spells from exile. I sighed, sitting my ass down at my desk chair. The place was still a mess. After all, I'd only been here for two days. I picked up an old case file -
Rowen Lazul
- and tossed it back down. What a new arena I came to. I put my feet up on my desk, and leaned back, uncorking my flask, planning to take a large swig of my tiger's milk. Put it to my lips and tilted it back, swallowing - nothing. I looked inside and shook it. Damn thing was empty. Only thing I had left was Hanska's tea in a flask. That'd be of no help. I sighed, resigning myself to my fate. My mind wandered, thinking of the new faces I'd already met here.
Karina. Damn kid was everywhere, every time. Still, seemed like a nice enough kid. Just got off on the wrong foot. Possessed by a hat... voice in her head... must've been Hell. I knew what she'd been through ever so slightly.
Hanska. Venom-dame. Cutesy cleric girl. Wouldn't mind getting to know her better - Vivien and Yuriel might have my head though if they were here. I smirked. They weren't though. She seemed to be more than meets the eye, but most of us do. I'd have to look into her bizarre attitude. Still, she was a cat person - couldn't be that bad.
The 7's. Had encounters with them before, solved a couple cases for them, they helped me out a couple times. Good to know I had some semblance of an ally this go around.
Those were the important figures so far. Then there was Sunspear. Poor sap. I took a cigarette out from my coat pocket, and snapped a fire into my fingertips, lighting it. Perks of being a planeswalker.
You couldn't even find anything on the Tongue of Origin. You don't deserve to be a planeswalker.
Yeah, probably not. Doesn't mean I don't have it though.
Heh. You're an ass, Skylar. Can't even teach a man to be a gumshoe.
What of it? I took another drag of my cigarette, tasting the nicotine. Weird taste without the alcohol tainting my mouth.
Leave the detective alone! He's a nice man.
Heh. Thanks, Nogg. I appreciate it.

I walked up to Aiden's old home after everyone else had left the monument. They really hadn't spared any expense, had they?
I pulled down my hood and sat down in front of it - the wind was nice, at the very least.
"Oh, Aiden. I've sung your verse like a mother - it's the least I could do after kicking you out into the world. I hope your afterlife is nicer than mine, at the very least."
Then I left - no matter how pretty it was, the memorial only marked where some meat was buried.
Later that day, towards the evening, I showed up at the door of Rolt's current residence. One thing was for certain - Rolt definitely wasn't a housekeeper. "Mr. Rolt? Would you mind if I came in? "Mr. Rolt? Would you mind if I came in? I have something to ask you."
"Huh? Oh, yeah, come on in. Take a seat." --- The dame walked into my office, laced with her usual venom of choice. Ever since I learned she used venom to cure, it only gave me more of a reason to call her venom-dame. She walked in like a fine liquor, innocent at first glance but with long enough exposure an early death for sure. I pulled my feet off my desk and motioned for her to sit down. She had trouble written on her face, the kind of trouble you couldn't say at home for the holidays, personal and depressing.
"What can I do you for?"
Detective's Discovery Sorcery Put the bottom two cards of your library into your hand. I sit at my desk, reading a case file. My leg bounces up and down. I'm on the cusp of figuring something out, and for the first time in a while, I'm not excited about it. I'm anxious. As I read the file, my eyes settle on some choice words:...as if from nowhere, Haloster's gun slapped out of hand... Wait... Unlock: This is a fine Twiddle variant which I expect to see print someday (though probably with "you may" in front of it so the opponent can't, say, cast an instant-speed convoke spell and force you to untap their creature instead, but that's an easy interaction to miss). 10/10.The drone gently places the box at Rolt's feet, then folds its limbs back into its body and departs.Inside the box is a bronze-and-silicon amulet bearing the symbol of AKHATAR, two intersecting wheels with five spokes each. As leader and representative of the Empire of AKHATAR, we strive to be Sane and Necessary in all our doings, and our responses to your eminently understandable concerns with our presence here did not meet that standard.As a token of reparations, we present you with this amulet. Parasign I watch as the drone glides across the room and places the box at my feet. "Couldn't put it on the desk..?" I muttered, leaning down and picking it up as the drone takes off. I pick up the note and read it. A pendant, huh? "Looks neat enough. I'll keep it with my other trophies and gifts." I said, placing it on a hook on my wall. It dangles and looks pretty.You are a clever one, AKH. Luckily, the detective is as confident as ever.Bloodied Ornament Artifact - Clue , sacrifice ~: Tap or untap target permanent. , sacrifice an artifact: Draw a card. "Now how in the seven Hells did he beat the man to death with a necklace?"I reread the note, scoffing at the last few lines. "Like I'd ever need help protecting my mind."Tracking Device: Neato. I like the Zedruu theme you've got going on. I'd make this out to be a better Psychic Possession, but it isn't a may, but it is in colorless. I think in colorless it needs a slightly higher mana cost, but I do really like the design. 8/10.

Bloodied Ornament: I like how the second ability basically turns all your artifacts into Clues. That's an interesting design on its own, which unfortunately means that the first ability feels kind of tacked on. There's already the tension of "do I sacrifice this or my other artifacts", so I don't think it also needs the tension of "do I draw a card or twiddle something" on top of that. 8/10.
("Did he take it?")
{It's in an elevated position, so he likely didn't throw it away.}
("Great! I'm proud of you, AKH. It's really... you didn't add the contact poison, did you?")
{No, just the tracker.}
("As I was saying, it's really important to not burn bridges with a potential ally in a place like this.")
{He's no ally. This was poor strategy. And wasteful.}
("Come on, that symbol is millennia out of date. And we have boatloads of those amulets anyway.")

I approach the detective's office, and knock once on the door before opening it and entering. "Greetings, Detective Rolt," I say as I move to stand before his desk. "When we spoke previously, you stated that you were a seeker of knowledge and truths. I am hopeful that you would be able to aid me in acquiring information... I have recently heard of a 'New Phyrexia' that exists. I have not heard of a 'new' Phyrexia before this, so I am seeking further information."Curious Construct Artifact Creature - Construct Whenever Curious Construct deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, you may draw a card. 1/1

Rixos approaches Rolt's office (I suppose he has an office) short after their last encounter. "Hello there, Mr Rolt! Anything new regarding the Mirage problem? I revised every one of my pockets and I found nothing. Wasted time I suppose. Do you need help with anything else?"False Clue Artifact , sacrifice ~: Draw a card, then discard a card. Nothing here.

blueseclipse A knock at the door was what awoke me from my sleep. Face down on the floor, I slowly stand up as the phyrexian enters my office. I shake off my dizziness, groggy and feeling a bit slow. "Hey pal. What, New Phyrexia? I don't know much about it other that it was called Mirrodin at some point, before someone or other took it over -" I stopped abruptly, my head filled with pain as red lines drew themselves across my vision. Visions of terrible creatures, slaughtering flesh, brains linked together in terrible jars, and terrible violence near great furnaces, replacing, rebuilding reshaping--You seek knowledge, Skylar? You may have it."Urk..!" I let out a groan, putting a hand to my forehead. Just as soon as it came over me, it vanished. "...S-sorry. Just a headache." I said, reaching for a flask at my desk, and chugging the whole thing down. I wiped my mouth with my sleeve, turning back to the Phyrexian. "Like I said, don't know much about it. But what can I help you find out?"Headache Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Whenever enchanted creature attacks, if it's untapped, tap it. It doesn't untap during it's controller's next untap step. "I-I think I'll just sit this one out..."Curious Construct: I like it. I think it could maybe afford flying? Then again, that one vehicle was banned and that was looting so I dunno. 9/10. --- mrlozano (You'd suppose correctly) I looked to the merchant, a little too peppy for my tastes, like a salmon with too much pepper on it. "Not yet, slick." I sighed. "Whoever did this is a slippery one. And because you offered, you could answer some questions for me - did anyone else have access to your coat at all while on the arena?"Slippery Thief Creature - Human Rogue Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, gain control of target artifact that player controls until end of turn. 2/2 False Clue: A cheerio artifact (tbh should be a clue), and I like it. I don't know 100% how viable it is, but cheerios usually find a slot either in jank or some modern artifact otk thing. 9/10.

It isn't a full lockdown effect, but it limits the creature to attacking every other turn unless you have other ways to untap it - and it doesn't interfere with abilities. The fact that it gets around vigilance, though, makes me think this should either cost or be . 9/10"I would be interested in knowing who was responsible for claiming that plane, and what purpose it was done for. If you can aid me with this, or even direct me to another who would be able to provide me with further information, I would certainly be able to compensate you accordingly."Trader of Secrets Artifact Creature - Construct , : You and target opponent each draw a card. 0/4

If I'm wearing the jacket only I can get access to it, and I only take it out to sleep. Also, I have a 'security system' to be sure that no one steals it." Rixos starts looking at his pockets looking for something. He takes out a jar with a black slimy thing inside. "There it is. This is the security system." Rixos puts a hand inside the goo and closes his eyes. "No, it hasn't detected anything. So, whoever you are looking for must be very sneaky." Suddenly Rixos has an idea. "Mr Rolt... Can the Mirage come insde other things? I mean, if someone sold me something that can have the Mirage inside it could pass unnoticed to me. Then the coat would sort it into different pockets. Does it seem plausible to you?"
Regain Conscience Instant Gain control of all permanents you own. Draw a card.
Slippery Thief: Seems good, and a good answer to sacrificable artifacts. Probably playable in EDH or in sideboards. 10/10

blueseclipse I nodded, my head still pounding like a man tossed out of his own home without any clothes on his furious wife's door. "Well, in case you haven't noticed, I'm something of a sleuth myself." I said, smirking. "Give me a couple days and I can crack it no problem, like an egg to be cooked in a pan." I said. "Now, about this compensation - what've you got? I won't make you pay 'till I get you some info, but I want to know what I'm getting myself into." I said, wondering where Vivien could be right now.
Rolt, Secret Hunter Legendary Planeswalker - Rolt Whenever you draw a card for the first time each turn, investigate. : Untap up to one target nonland permanent. : Draw a card for each Clue you control. (+1, -5, SL 3) Trader of Secrets: Reminds me of Temple Bell. Ability cost could probably be or maybe . I like it though. 9/10. (I realize, for quoting purposes, it's easier if I do one post at a time so that's the sudden shift here.)
