So I was wondering if there is a way and how one would go about changing how MSE splits up the cards into the sets like Magic, Planechase, Archenemy, etc. I was hoping to possibly split up the set that is Magic into types of card sets like Future Sight, Old Styles, New Styles etc. Any help on that would be really helpful if it's possible

I like this idea.
I don't think this is very hard but I will need to try doing it today to make sure I don't miss a step somewhere (forewarning it will be a little tedious, but it will only need done once). (the worst part of doing this is if you miss something MSE doesn't even open and give you an error).

it's possible but you won't be able to have those frames in the same set files anymore, same way you can have (old) Planes and normal cards in one set.

I started to catalogue all of the .mse-style and .mse-includes but honestly I don't have the motivation to finish that so I'll pass on how this works so that you can delve into it.
Before we start, bear in mind that Cajun is correct, multiple templates will not be able to be accessed by the same set file unless they are in the same game file. This also points out an additional problem. If you do this you will not be able to share your set files with others online unless they have your exact build as the reference pointers will not be correct and the file won't open.
I would also recommend that you backup your original folder setup before you begin and periodically backup working setups as you change the references. When you make a mistake in this process it is often difficult to diagnose and find.
Basic InformationYou have the "Game type:" each of these references a .mse-game folder of the \data\ folder. In the case of MtG it is magic.mse-game. Within this folder there is a "game" file that contains the basic index information for the templates. You can open this file using any text editor, for windows I tend to use Notepad as it tracks lines and columns for debugging. At the beginning of the file there is the "short name: " line, the "full name: " line, and the "icon: " line. Following the short header is a list of the folders that the game reference all listed as "depends on". The Short Name is the bold title, the Full Name is the unbolded title, and the icon is the image used to reference the game.
For each "Card style:" each of these references a .mse-style folder of the \data\folder. In the case of MtG Old Style these are all of the .mse-style folders starting with magic-old... Within these folders there is a "style" file that contains the basic index information for that template. The "style" file can be opened like the "game" file. At the beginning of this file is the "game: " line. Following the short header is a list of the folders that this style references, all listed as "depends on". The Game is the name of the .mse-game folder referenced for this style.
In the addition to the above each of these may reference various .mse-include, .mse-symbol-font and .mse-export-template folders.
How to change this:
For each different "game" selection you want to create you must copy the "magic.mse-style" folder and copy it. Rename it as appropriate, for our example we will rename it as "magic-old.mse-style". Then go within the new folder and change the short name and full name entries as you feel appropriate. If you wish the new entry to have a different icon then make sure the icon line references the appropriate new image.
Follow this, for each card style you wish to place under this entry go into the appropriate .mse-style folder and change the "game:" line of the style file to the new folder. In our example I changed every magic-old style all the new lines read "game: magic-old". In addition change the first "depends on:" package line to the same item, in this case "magic.mse-style" to "magic-old.mse-style".
Doing the above worked for me although the original magic entry tried to reference some of the new style files and would crap out, but I believe this could be fixed by finishing by changing the original magic.mse-style folder to magic-m15 once I was finished.
Concerns:I had concerns that not renaming the different .mse-include and .mse-symbol-font folders might cause the game to crash, but this appears to be an unfounded concern.

Yeah I knew it would cause that issue and that is OK, honestly the frames I want to partition off are more so for the ones that I don't plan on using often such as the old style and plane shifted ones that don't generally appeal to me but I still want them just incase I get an itch to do something with them.

ok, that makes good sense, thanks impspiritguide. I probably won't do it right away but when I have some extra time I will fiddle with it. Once I'm done I could post it up here just in case there are other OCD people out there like me that want it a little more varied lol
