Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and thirty-fifth challenge! The winner of the "Dredge got a new toy" poll was kinotherapy with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design a card with "counter" in its rules text. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post.And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Cloning Laboratory Artifact : Cloning Laboratory deals 1 damage to target creature. Put a probe counter on that creature. , : Create a token that’s a copy of target creature with a probe counter on it. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery. “Mr. Fluffykins is sadly no longer with us. Maybe I should have taken a smaller tissue sample.” —Laboratory journal

Throw to the Dogs Instant As an additional cost to cast Throw to the Dogs, sacrifice a creature. Counter target creature spell unless its controller pays X life, where X is the converted mana cost of the sacrificed creature. "Here's a bone."

Baffle Instant Counter target spell unless its controller sacrifices a creature with power 3 or greater.
EDIT: Had one too many in the mana cost. Thanks to spazlaz for pointing it out.

Book Nester Creature - Dragon Flying The first time each turn a card is exiled from your library, put a +1/+1 counter on Book Nester. Whenever a new edition of a textbook is published, all of the old copies are gifted to the university’s mascot, Smokey.2/2 ----- Might need a bit more tweaking -_- Really rusty at CotW EDIT: First version is below. Discovered that Cascade breaks the original in half. NOT AN ENTRY {Spoiler}

I find it fascinating that so many of the initial entries were counter spells, even though there's multiple ways to use the word counter in Magic.

{Die in a Fire} I'm sorry, but I just love slivers so much! Oooohhh heeellll no. It's certainly something, alright. Let's break it down: 1) Forced Tribal typing to help search out and buff an already broken card with no real justification for doing so. 2) Deals damage to no specified target on the +1 and it's way too easy to accumulate Slivers to build up to this spamming 4-5 damage each turn. Shouldn't be a +1 ability even if it was worded properly. 3) Jace has this ability as an ultimate. Why should my efficient damage spammer be able to double much faster than him again? 4) -10 is an okay keyword soup ultimate (indestructible and flying should be in the same gets statement btw) but the overpowered first two abilities make it look like a joke. 5) Weird pointless drawback (because it's useless without Slivers anyway).

Sorry if it came off as negative. It was more of a "I hate everything to do with slivers" reaction.

Frustrate Interrupt Counter target nonblue spell unless its controller pays . I love the space that Frazzle fills in multicolored sets, but I wanted something a little stronger than Mana Leak to stay relevant late-game.
