So, I was listening to the 5 o'clock Funnies today. It was Patton Oswalt doing his "I hate" bit, the one that ends with "Bring forth my doomspawn from your stink-crevice, and prove the gypsy wrong!"
Aside from being a funny line, it, and the whole bit before it, got me thinking about the5lacker, our very own agent provocateur. Long have I harbored vague, unspecified suspicions about him, made all the more suspicious/insidious by his continued skirting of the standards & practices clauses of this forum, the seeming unwillingness of the mods to reign in his most aggressive impulses, and his willfully ignoring all of my Card of the Week entries in his mass critiques.
These and other factors, including the Patton Oswalt bit, have led me to believe that the5lacker is actually a Mr. Hyde of one of the mods. Now, I'm not sure which one (pleasedon'tbeDaij_Djan, pleasedon'tbeDaij_Djan, pleasedon'tbeDaij_Djan), but I can kinda understand the urge to lay down some scathing critique when us loony plebs start getting too far out from good design. I'll be the first to admit to stuffing a little too much into quite a few cards. But the5lacker seems a little too disruptive, his stance so overly aggressive that it's hard to take his advice on the face of it, without several grains of salt.
Here's an alternate theory: the5lacker was once an actual forum member, back in the sourceforge days, but after the mods actually took rare action against him (it was either a temporary suspension or a permabanning {that he eventually seemingly disobeyed}), the originator of the account never came back. Instead, a mod took up the mantle, after an appropriately long enough time for the rest of us to think we were safe from his ushanka-ed dog* presence (his sourceforge avatar pic).
Alternate theory B: ALL the mods take turns playing the5lacker!
