Hi all,
Long-time MSE user, recent member here.
I'm working on a project involving "remastering" the original Base Set / Fossil / Jungle metagame from the Pokémon TCG, with some new custom cards (and classic frame versions of more recent, actual cards) thrown in the mix for balance. I go by chainsawinsect on Reddit and Discord too, and you can see an early mock-up of some of the cards here. The idea is once I've got all the cards ready, I will print out numerous proxies of them for my friends and I to play with IRL (since acquiring copies of the actual old-school Pokémon cards has become prohibitively expensive in recent years).
To create the cards, I have been working off of the beautiful Pokémon TCG MSE templates put together by impspiritguide and thenobletheif from this board, but as you can see in the example image, there are some changes to the template that I'm envisioning for the project.
I've been able to do some very light "coding" changes to the templates myself, thanks to the excellent new template development guide prepared by GenevensiS, and also to get a surprising amount of work done by manually manipulating the image files that MSE uses (for example, I am not having Fairy energy but am having a new "Venom" energy, which maps onto Bug and Poison from cartridge Pokémon, and while I can't successfully create new basic types in the coding, I simply replaced all the Fairy image files with my desired Venom files and it's worked out OK). And, I have image assets ready for all of the "new" graphics I want to incorporate already.
However, I've sort of hit a wall in terms of what I am able to accomplish using my own abilities, and there are changes that I'd like to make that I don't think I have the skill to implement even if I had hundreds of hours to devote to the project...
...and so I wanted to see if anyone here with experience with MSE programming / template creation might be able to help out!
If so, I am totally willing and even happy to compensate you for your time!
I welcome absolutely any and all assistance you can spare.
All the best,
-chainsawinsect
