Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and eighty-second challenge! The winner of the "Multicolor Alliance Special" poll was spazlaz with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design a card relating to an event in history, but instead of it happening as it did, reverse the outcome. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Interesting question. I read it as real world history, but pinging spazlaz to get the final verdict

Feedback always appreciated (PS protection from red felt a little too on the nose) [PPS app I'm using to make renders on the go doesn't support rarities, this would more likely be rare or high uncommon]

{dropped entry} Not sure whether this might need a disclamer since it's technically quite the heavy topic, but just to make sure: obviously this design is not meant to downplay my country's darkest history and/or offend anyone.

Big oof but definitely a history reversal. I like the design too, but does an artifact copy of a land that loses its land tag still have the mana ability?

It wouldn't work with the abilities granted to lands by having the basic land type, no - but everything else works just fine.
EDIT: Actually, after a quick check of the rules, at first glimpse it doesn't seem to be an issue even then - the basic land mana ability should copy over just fine. Then again, it's way too late for tonigh, so I'll look at it again tomorroy

Daij_Djan : Hey, if spruder can do a nazi-related card, yours is fine, too. I mean, it is the High Holy Days (or at least the run-up to them), and I am a bad Jew, so take of that what you will. Is this a little too high-concept? Yes, it is nothing, because the historic thing that I chose is a little pebble missing its mark, and because of that, either the Earth is completely obliterated, or the changes are so drastic and cumulative that it'd be impossible to predict whether a Saurosapien species would even evolve, much less even one eventually becoming a Richard Garfield equivalent, and even less than that that he'd invent Magic: the Gathering.

Card of the week contest #482: Good Nazis!
Edit: Could focus on other atrocities, like a land named "Hiroshima, the still existing" or "Reparations Paid" or we could imagine even worse timelines, like "America of the Triumphant South" or focus on butterfly effects of supposedly minor events. But given the mental weight of specific events in modern history, this contest gon have nazi stuff.
That said Nazis are bad, still bad, very bad, and no one is making cards implying otherwise.

I have problems with how WOTC implements Sieges becomes while making sense in limited environment, every one of them simulates you and other player attacks a chosen protector, yet every battle except Invasion of New Phyrexia depicts the triumph of the defender side. (Which is why IMO MOM should be two sets)
Also, I didn't find a good Battle template yet. Prove me wrong?

I'm not seeing your render? That's the point: his entry is nothing.

After sleeping over it for a night, I decided to drop my entry. As much as I like the ability to depict a painter (and want to use it again elsewhere at some point), I don't like using an entry I wouldn't want others to vote for - and I don't think I'd want that design to maybe even win resulting in putting Adolf on the forum's front page.. In the "normal" weekly contests, I'd have kept it, but not for CotW.
Back to the drawing boards!
EDIT:
Actually, already have a new idea - how about a white Fog-variant?

I'm not seeing your render? That's the point: his entry is nothing. Ah I get it. Not my entry but inspired by his: I love the idea of an orbital mana rock with the risk of oblivion collision events. You get mana from seeing it pass by.

Smashing the Boat Oars Instant Destroy target creature and all Equipments attached to that creature with mana value 2 or less. "You dishonor my patience and don't even show up with a proper sword? Pathetic." - Sasaki KojiroReferences the duel between Sasaki Kojirō and Miyamoto Musashi. To make a long story short, imagine a big honor bound duel between two well known samurai. Now imagine one of those samurai shows up 3 hours late on purpose and kills the other one with a boat oar. Needless to say, there's probably at least one reality out there where that plan's just a bit too stupid to work.
Just for fun, here's its 'real' counterpart: Unconventional Technique Instant You may unattach an Equipment from a creature you control. If you do, ~ deals damage to any target equal to that Equipment's mana value. “Know your enemy, know his sword, and know how to render both useless.” - Miyamoto Musashi

On one hand, I had seen that video before. On the other hand, it was years ago and I honestly remembered none of its contents aside from the general outline.

I am specifically referencing the challenger shuttle disaster, but this could apply to:
1. Climate Change 2. Vaccines 3. Any disaster movie (sarcastically)

Meteor Hail Sorcery Destroy target land and each creature with power 2 or less. No puny meteor could ever end the great age of dinosaurs.Hey, hey, hey! I did this concept!
