Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our seventy-first challenge! The winner of the “It's a Onederful World“ poll was melono with... |
(Pauper Commander)
{Comments}A pauper commander deck that's all about pumping your 1/1's using your commander. White/green weenies really. Edited slightly to remove cards that are not allowed (and to make it more up to date). |
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Create a deck with at least two unique cards with Adventure. (Try to do more for commander decks/singleton formats, but I won't put a hard limit on that one) Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

A pauper commander deck all about casting cantrips and making tokens, then making your board bigger from all those casts.

When looking at the challenge, there are two rather obvious approaches to it: Using Lozhan, Dragons' Legacy / Gorion, Wise Mentor as potential commanders or take the support cards like Wandermare and build a Standard / Modern / whatever Adventure deck - so I decided I wanted to use none of them. Instead, how about this..

This is the deck that I started on way back a few weeks ago with the "exiles matter" challenge that I never finished/submitted... glad that it fits here too!
I highlight the Adventure cards in their separate grouping.

"They ever tell you that buying cheap costs you?" - "The Fox" "Depends. Are we talking about grilled chicken or a killing machine?" - "Fuhito" Discount Dragon Adventures(Budget)DecklistNamed as such because every Dragon here can be brought at a "discount" - both in mana, and real money. 11 USD deck that leverages the fact the Adventure Dragons in Izzet - Young Red Dragon, Sapphire Dragon, and Sword Coast Serpent make for fairly decent control spells when cast in Adventure mode while supporting cards like Silumgar's Scorn and Dragon's Fire at instant speed. We build a control shell around this setup that simultaneously threatens to try and flip a Smoldering Egg early while casting plenty of Adventure Dragons that will come down later. Fallaji Dragon Engine takes up our 'traditional' control finisher slot while letting us keep our Dragon count high enough for our Dragon-matters cards and being an extra defender in a pinch.
