I'm sure this has been done to death. By everyone and their mother, but when trying to create an 'Evolution' keyword for a pokemon set, I regularly feel at odds with myself on deciding precisely if that is how the mechanic should work, if it's fair to the player casting the card, if it's fair for the player on the other side, and how it affects board state and other keywords. Allow me to post two examples I ended up settling on. The intent being that Evolution is incentivized by reduced cost and search, but not so much better than summoning that a player wouldn't hard cast a second or third evolutionary stage if they had the ability. This is changed from my original keyword text for evolution which was a lot more specific, I feel, and I'm not quite sure if this is necessarily better or or it is less rigid than my original wording. But I'd love to hear what others think given that I've only shown my pod these.
