Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and seventeenth challenge!
The winner of the "Take Two" poll was SirnightNano with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... I'm basing this week's challenge around the Jace Spellbook product, because I think the idea of it is really cool and I'd like more people to play around with the concept. The entrants need to design a card that would be part of a fictional character's Spellbook, using Cajun's great Spellbook template for extra points. It should be an instant, sorcery, or Aura, and it should be an iconic spell that your chosen character has cast in a book, movie, mini-series, or whatever other bit of media, but other than that it's a pretty open challenge.
Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post.And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Tainted Baloth   Signature Creature--Garruk Beast  (For as long as you control a Garruk planeswalker, you can -1 that planeswalker to search your library for a signature Garruk card and put that card into your hand. Normal planeswalker rules apply) Deathtouch 3/3

Reject  Signature Instant--Tamiyo (For as long as you control a Tamiyo planeswalker, you can  that planeswalker to search your library for a signature Tamiyo card, reveal it, put that card into your hand, then shuffle your library. Normal planeswalker rules apply.) Counter target non-sorcery spell.

This is a little hard. I mean we have to make a card from scratch? Plus it has to be something that would appear on a Spell book? I mean most of the Jace spell book cards are cards that were printed with Jace art before. So it is just strange. Let me see if I can come up with something that is proper. Wait, I have reread this again, I think I understand. You want this to be the spellbook of a fictional character (Not necessarily MTG) and they have to have cast this spell before. It can only be instant, sorcery, and aura. No planeswalker? well that is a little sad. Okay so fictional character, can I make my own character? For now, since I am terrible at drawing let try this:  In case you do not know, this is a screen shot from this cinematic trailer. Whops, made a spelling error and some other things. The guy is a beast. Mass resurrect in 3 times as fast with Power Word: Shield at least 10 times bigger than normal. With what appears to be a Mass Heal on everyone. Seems like you give him an army and he will just kill an entire city with no loses. |

sdfkjgh: A hard counter for almost everything that costs just 2 mana and one of them is generic? And then ist's also fechable with certain cards. This looks way too good. It's also a bit weird to have cards in your library grant abilities to your permanents. I guess you'd have to reveal them before shuffling for the game (conspiracy-like) or something. spazlaz: This card sure has it's uses, but I think in most cases this is worse than Index. jokerk118: 6 mana for +2X/+0 and double strike seems pretty strong (see Onward // Victory for reference). I think the 2 and 4 should be spelled out.

I think it's just any fictional character. As long as you can make an instant, sorcery, or enchantment aura that represents one of the character's abilities, it's a-okay. |

You are right. This is from a particular moment in the battle for Azeroth and the flavor text is a quote, so I can just add that. You can barely see him from all the light, and I guess if you are not familiar with him you will miss it. Thanks for the tip.
I would like to argue though that most spellbook cards from jace are related to his character but are not unique to him. Counterspell, Threads of Disloyalty. The main reason you can tell this is Jace related, is the artwork and the flavor text. I'll look for a better image and change the flavor text a little.

I went with a simple design this time, but to spice it up a bit I created a custom spelbook frame to suit the character I've chosen. It's Geralt of Rivia, the main character from the Witcher games and books. Witchers are no mages, but in combat they use a variety of small spells to get an edge on the monsters they fight. Igni is a classic fire spell, and to reflect that I kept the text short and sweet.
Igni   Instant  Igni deals 4 damage to target creature.

The first line still needs to be tweaked. As read this is the only spell you can cast if you control Thor, which I assume is not your intention. Also I figured you'd make it Legendary so you could remove that text. While it's true that it's flavorful I don't foresee this being a good card if you can only cast it while you control a very specific card; the legendary supertype fixes this issue while still going in on that flavor. |

And Yes it is supposed to be that overly strong. I want this to feel like it did when Goku first used it against Nappa and Vageta. Like it just gets better and better the more power you push on it. I was thinking about adding a sacrifice clause if it was kicked 4 or more times but I didn't want it to feel like a Berserk clone. |
