Revo Antauen
Revo Antauen d77ca1
A longstanding, although generally considered stagnant, Chemister at the Izzet's Laboratory of Continuism, Revo had frequently worked with their partner from the Laboratory of Orientation on unsanctioned work investigating alternate timelines to test the Quantum Universe Hypothesis. After decades of spending personal time on a project that didn't seem to want to bear fruit, a glimpse was made into an alternate timeline, and Revo's partner was lost within, while Revo's spark was found. Exciting his superiors with the news of an extremely dangerous yet groundbreaking discovery, he was cleared for singular research into the topic of alternate timelines and how to access them. Taking his funding, he has begun a multiversal trek to learn and develop his theories, in the hopes that he might find his partner again.
Abilities: Portal: Short spans of distance or time can easily be traversed, with anything larger than a few moments or meters coming at the cost of greater uncertainty of the result. Turns out Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle applies in most places in the Multiverse. You, But Better!: After additional field testing, Revo discovered how to extract things from alternate timelines, given there's a version of it in this timeline it can latch onto. Too bad he doesn't have his partner's flesh... He'll keep it in mind if he gets another partner. Me, Myself, and I: He's used the prior ability to contact himself quite a bit, and has made deals with a few of his selves to benefit from each other's abilities regularly. So, that's not an illusory copy of himself, that's the Revo that works for Pyrology.
Personality: We Just Need to Be Smarter, and Then We'll Be Okay: Revo constantly chases after the nonexistent source of his suffering, believing that bettering himself will allow him to best it. It will not, but it should be credited for his incredible work ethic. Let's Say, Hypothetically...: Revo is prone to risk taking, bouts of creativity, and (occasionally excessive) optimism. He will often work backwards from the thoughts and ideas most unlikely to be true towards those that are. Unorthodox Charity: Generally speaking, Revo wants to help people and do good things for people. His actions may not seem like it sometimes, but it's probably because he's predicted it will wrap around and get someone out of a pinch later. Obsessive, Much?: There are often a few singular points of contention for Revo, some of which change based on recent events. His care for his lost partner and attention to his work never seem to fade. I'm Sorry, What's That Face?: While definitely interested in having some fun and socializing, he doesn't wield particularly high empathy. It's not necessarily harder to have a heart to heart or an exciting trip with Revo, it's simply not an experience most are accustomed to.Colors: Color Identity: 1 Mana Value: 3 Card Types:

saikonaifu As was the usual observed behavior for this particular traveler, Arandu was once more on some remote corner of the Arena, observing wildlife and taking notes in a journal that never seemed to run out of space. Although on this occasion his usual elation at getting the chance to study the plane was replaced by a determination that seemed to take much of his focus. At the foot of a mountain, the planeswalker was observing a promising growth among the limited greenery, muttering to himself as was usual when company was absent."Local biology seems to possess the essential basics for replicating homegrown materials, but the amount derived per unit of biomass is pessimistically low...some candidates for hybridization would be reasonable if I was familiar with related species, but it might be more feasible to establish local communal growths in the short term...presuming of course I was also accompanied by an entire agricultural group, which I am not. It might be best to establish if Q'ayrumi can be synthesized at all before I begin to speculate about yield..."Q'ayrumi Manipulator Creature — Human Artificer When Q’ayrumi Manipulator enters the battlefield, create a Canister token. (It’s an artifact with “ , Sacrifice this artifact: Untap target permanent. Activate only during your turn.”) ,Tap an untapped artifact you control: Tap or untap target permanent. 2/4

Popcornia "...the incubation period of which wouldn't take more than a day or two, during which time other suitable specimens for fusion may be sought, anyways." The minute clicking of gears and gentle hissing of steam persisted as Revo failed to repress his urge to comment on the musings of the researcher. Apparently, the veil of focus can obscure even the most obvious changes in scene, such as the appearance of a man in a red suit wielding a large mizzium contraption on his back. Revo had taken rest ten paces to Arandu's left, squatting in a spot where he can observe some of the flora at eye-level. He reached out a gloved hand to brush a thickly veined leaf of Q'ayrumi, before unceremoniously tearing it off with a flick of his wrist. He twirls it in his hand, considering it. "Though that's not the tough portion of things..." He softly continues. "Something as isolated from sufficient sustenance such as this would be appreciated by any plant in need of food... or any engine in need of fuel, for that matter..."Revo's voice drops off afterwards, contributing nothing more to a silence only occasionally broken by the hollow breeze. As he takes a quick glance at his previously unacknowledged companion, Revo draws a cigar from his breast pocket and inserts it into an open valve of his pack, presumably to light it. "May I assume this study means life exists more densely, elsewhere? Forgive my asking, I'm simply seeking a river from which to refill my flask. It hasn't contained anything for quite some time, now."
Q'ayrumi Root Artifact - Food , , Sacrifice Q'ayrumi Root: Gain 3 life. Specialize Specializations Q'ayrumi Automender ( ) : You gain 3 life. Q'ayrumi Autoscanner ( ) : Scry 3. Q'ayrumi Autostitcher ( ) : Create a 1/1 black Thrull creature token. Q'ayrumi Autohammer ( ) : Q'ayrumi Autohammer deals 1 damage to any target. Q'ayrumi Autogenerator ( ) : Search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, then put it into your hand. Shuffle afterwards. Considering the potential if the energy hypothesis is true...
Q'ayrumi Manipulator - Very solid synergy piece with good costing to hedge against infinites, although it's disappointing that you can't execute a crab-rave combo with a single mana rock. It doesn't feel powerful, which is probably where a card that cares about artifacts wants to be, anyways. 9/10

He raised a brow at the other researcher's musings, especially those pertaining to what seemed to be a comment on his own mutterings, but to his knowledge had little connection to the subject's actual properties. It was difficult to tell where speculation began and sheer fantasy ended. "If you're in search of an actual river, and not a metaphorical one, there should be one within an hour's passing down that way." He pointed with his whole hand, gesturing down and away from the mountain that loomed above them, "if not, and you are in search of an energy source, I'm afraid you've mistaken my interest here for one that aligned with yours."
Not judgmental, but he was quick to try and set the matter straight at least. "I am Arandu, I've been studying this plane for a short time now. I assume you are likewise doing the same?" His arm went back to his side, his cloak quickly concealing it and the rest of him with little complaint beyond the ruffling of fabric. The appearance of the two could not be more different, but it was clear one of them had the advantage in concealing their personal effects. Redact Instant — Redact costs less to cast if it targets an ability. Counter target spell, activated ability, or triggered ability. Draw a card. Q'ayrumi Root: Honestly, this is more fun than the Baldur's gate specialize cards we got, though it helps in being pretty straightforward about what you get. 9/10

At the backswing of Arandu's arm, Revo extends his, expecting a handshake. He keeps it out and open anyways, out of courtesy. "Your assumption is correct, to a certain degree, likely to the same degree your declaration that we aren't seeking the same answers is valid." He pauses, looking up at the sky. "Although, it would hardly be negative to learn more things in general. Add it to the growing mental stack, and all."He awkwardly shifts his feathered hat on his head, after a silence. "But for the river, it's true, energy would be nice, both for my body and my craft. The wonderful minds back home cracked turning water into energy long ago, and I doubt we'd never need anything else." He eyes the leaf he tore off, before slipping it under the band in his hat holding a myriad of feathers in place. "But understanding something's use as such helps comprehend its other attributes as well. Let me guess, your aim is to propagate life across these lands?" Revo turns back towards the stone peak, smiling. "That sounds like a hero's work to me. I respect you for it, truly."
As much as there is to dissect about Arandu, Revo doesn't mind waiting on that front. They seem to both be curious minds put to work similarly, and that connection was enough to satisfy Revo with a potential associate, setting aside his mannerisms and dress as things to analyze when the moment calls for it. "Perhaps you would even clue me in on the workings of this world, given that you're likely my superior in time." Revo glances at his watch. While it was true that one of them had the benefit of concealing themselves and their works, the other thrived off the publicity of his thoughts, and the much more useful assistance that unrestrained speech and transparent intention brought.
Redact - Yep, that's a counterspell. Not sure what else I can say about it. 8/10
Refocus Instant The next time a spell or ability you control is countered this turn, draw a card. Draw a card. A sign of a good mind is the ability to learn. A sign of a great mind is the ability to know what and when to learn.

saikonaifu Arandu's brow furrows as the man continues to...ramble was technically rude, but it did feel appropriate. Though it wasn't wrong to necessary make several assumptions upon a first meeting, the fact he was voicing them seemed to indicate he believed them to be fact, and not supposition, leaving Arandu with the impression this man followed his impulses more than he himself might. There was nothing wrong with following a train of thought, but to let that thought take you with it...
Well, he wasn't too obnoxious about it, so Arandu could allow the peculiarity to slide, and gently guide him back to more reasonable assumptions. "Cultivation is my goal, to a degree, though not necessarily of life in general, nor in this specific environ." Arandu's gaze went over the surrounding landscape quickly. The mountainside wasn't sickly, far from it, it had a growth of grass that blanketed most of the landscape, surrounding rocky outcrops that jutted out from the earth, and was dotted further by the occasional clusters of bushes, trees, and other plants of interest. It was hardly lifeless, but Arandu could certainly imagine someone used to more vibrant locations to find it dull. "Although I could imagine the initial steps to increase the biodiversity of this location, managing such a project is beyond the scope of my abilities at this time." Biodiversity Initiative Enchantment - Project Whenever you play a land card, put a progress counter on Biodiversity Initiative. Progress 2+: Lands you control have “ : Add one mana of any color.” Progress 5+: Lands you control have “ : Add two mana of any one color.” Refocus: Specific, but the effect overall is...I think it's fine? 7/10.
