Vidus nods. "I see. Do you think the planeswalker would have hid the artifact more hurriedly, or more carefully, and how long ago would this planewalker have hid it? That changes what I need to look for." Grumm Tavern Dealer: Really sick card. Love it. 10/10
Grumm Tavern Bouncer Creature - Human Wizard Choose up to three target creatures. An opponent of your choice divides those creatures into two piles. Return each creature in the pile of your choice to its owner's hand. 1/1 "From the records I have reconstructed, he did not stay long here, but specifically requested to be shown around it's most ancient places. The fearful townsfolk abided, but their records spoke unkindly of him."They survey the graveyard"The closest of the potential locations is the depths of this mausoleum, but I have identified four other similar sites, all dating to the same time period. This artifact was once of great importance to my people, and I intend to return it."Grumm Tavern Bouncer: This is a cracked Man'O War. Think it should be 4 or even 5 mana for limited. Cool concept tho. 7/10
Archaeological Dig Sorcery Mill three cards. Then, you may sacrifice a nontoken artifact. If you do, return an artifact or creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. (Aelewin has unlocked the sorcery card type)

"I think the mausoleum is blocking my powers. There's at least one dead body in there, right? But nothing's showing up. We're gonna have to go in if we want to find out if the artifact is in there."
Archaeological Dig: I love graveyard shenanigans in non- colors, and I also love reanimation. Really cool concept. 10/10

"She is." Vidus pauses. "I mean, I hope she is. I last saw her in an explosion involving her and a merfolk advisor named Komoro Dec. I could feel that something had passed through the blind eternities after the explosion, but I couldn't tell whether it was her, the advisor, or both."
Vidus sits down on the ground with his knees up, laying down his shovel next to him. He sighs and lays back, looking up into the sky.
Missing Persons Report: I love cards like conspiracies that make you choose card names to benefit yourself. 10/10
Homarid Name-Dropper Creature - Homarid When ~ ETB, up to two other creatures gain ~'s name in addition to their other names. 1/1 "Another name, then. That should improve the odds of finding whoever was the cause of your disturbance."
Zero stands quietly with Vidus for a short time. If he has nothing else, she'll head out. Homarid Name-Dropper - hmm not feeling this effect at common. 6/10

Something is amiss in the graveyard. Perhaps Vidus cannot put his finger on it immediately, but the resonance of the area is clearly out of tune.
Who knows what piece of evidence was the final straw. The empty coffin. The mysterious goo. The black tear in reality. The recently unearthed grave.
It may have been any, or none of them. But one of the pieces could not be denied.
A tangle of tentacles swayed and seemed to rise from the earth itself as easily as they might through water. A corpse hangs in the air at the center, muscle and flesh regrowing over the decaying remains.
It doesn't seem to have noticed him yet. Maybe he could just run.

It doesn't seem to have noticed him yet. Maybe he could just run. "Huh. That's not good." Vidus begins to back away slowly. "I have to get out of here before—" It was too late. The monster had already noticed him. It swung a massive tentacle towards him, dirt and death sloughing off of it as it flew. Vidus held up his hands instinctively. He knew he didn't need to, but it was a reflex. "Not again, not again, not again," he muttered to himself. The tentacle never made contact with Vidus. Instead, it slammed into a zombie standing right where Vidus used to be. The zombie held for a moment, before being broken to pieces by another tentacle lashing out. Vidus, having been thrown back, struggles to his feet. He starts to run, but reconsiders, unslinging the shovel from his back. He holds it up, threatingly pointed towards the creature. "You are disturbing the sanctity of this graveyard. Leave now, before I am forced to destroy you." He looks over his shoulder at the destroyed zombie laying on the ground. "Sorry. If it was my choice, you would not be here. Then again, if it was my choice, a lot of things would be very different."

The tentacles do not seem to care about the gravekeeper's threats. A tentacle casts out its thrall, the zombie now making its way for Vidus as another collects the pieces of the destroyed zombie to begin building another. From Beyond the Grave Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile X creature and/or Revelation cards from your graveyard. Create two X/X black Zombie creature tokens. Sidisi's Student - 8/10
Vidus grits his teeth. He blocks a hit from the zombie and retaliates with a devastating strike from his shovel. The tentacles continue to create zombies, slipping through the dirt to pull corpse after corpse into the world of the living. As he wades through the dead, Vidus mutters to himself, the miasma around him growing thicker. It gets so dense that it even begins spilling out his eyes and mouth, floating up and away into the atmosphere. Each cleave of the shovel comes quicker, and each zombie is generated slower. Eventually, Vidus is right next to the creature. "Everything dies. Even you, whatever you are. Yours will come far sooner than you expected." A tentacle lashes out at Vidus, but it's cut down before it can reach him. The cut-off limb disintegrates from the point of separation outwards, the end of the tentacle still wriggling. The rest of the creature thrashes around wildly.
From Beyond the Grave: Seems interesting. I read this as making X zombie tokens at first and was confused for a bit. I'm not sure how relevant the Revelation rider is here. 9/10

Instead of a stone coffin or walls of names, such as one would see in most sepulchers, there is only a set of stairs. Before leaving the scene, Vidus makes sure to return the bodies of the zombies to their graves, digging down to their coffins before gently picking them up and replacing them. He makes sure to repair any broken headstones and props up any that had fallen over in the battle. After making sure that every body has been returned to its rightful place, he picks up his shovel, puts it on his back, and heads off towards the shops.

Grim Spectacle Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may sacrifice a creature. Target creature gets -X/-X, where X is the number of creature cards in your graveyard. Then, if you sacrificed a creature, copy this spell. Vidus speeds up his pace to catch up with Aelewin. The light oscillates as the lantern swings from side to side. The shadows cast from the bones make them seem as if they stretch upwards far above the two's heads. Vidus continues to furrow his brow. There's something I'm forgetting. I can't shake the feeling. It's as if it's on the tip of my tongue, at the top of my mind, but it's just out of reach. The only sound is the pitter-patter of Aelewin and Vidus running down the passageways, the water on the floor adding splashes to the footsteps every so often, and Vidus's breathing, beginning to get heavier as the running continues. What am I forgetting? What do I need to remember? Is it important? His shovel weighs against his back. They turn a corner. They come to an open room, and Aelewin begins to explore it, searching for the artifact among coffins, urns, and tables filled with strange implements. Some half-decayed bodies lay on the tables, serving some unknown purpose. Most of the bodies are fairly intact, although some are unrecognizable as being anything. Vidus, still deep in thought, stands near the entrance. An errant thought points itself at Vidus's shovel. Why hadn't it worked earlier? What was stopping it? The only two things that could stop it were... Oh no.
Vidus's eyes widen. First, a feeling of digusts works its way through his body. Then, one of anger. In the end, fear wins out. "We have to leave. Now." Aelewin gives Vidus a questioning glance as they continue to search. "I've remembered now. The metal in this shovel is bloodforge. Blood was put into it at every step of its creation. The only two things that can stop bloodforge from working is a sufficiently powerful force, or other bloodforge. Every pillar in this room and in the passage ways back are made of bloodforge. These aren't catacombs. This is some sort of..." Vidus trails off. He's seen it. On the wall opposite him. A shadow, a demon, that seems as if it clouds out everything in the room. He tries to point at it, to alert Aelewin to the danger they're in. It's no use. Aelewin wouldn't be able to see it anyway. The demon was already inside his eye. And then, in an instant, it was inside his mind. Vidus reeled, trying to stop the intruder from accessing his mind. It's too late. Vidus tries anything, reaching for his shovel. But his muscles are not under his control anymore. His body shudders. A black cloud boils around his head, the vapor floating upwards as it dissipates. One by one, the pillars around the room begin to glow. At first red, then white, then so hot that the light from the lantern at Vidus's feet, having fallen from his hand as the demon took over his body, is as if it were a matchstick trying to fight against the sun.
Vidus's body laughs. His eyes glow an unnatural color, and his smile is wider than a normal smile should be. His body unslings the shovel from his back and crouches into a readied position. The pillars seem to focus towards the head of the shovel. A ball of energy forms around it, a pink and purple hue. Several other spheres begin to form, orbiting the main sphere. Vidus's body snarls and launches towards Aelewin with unnatural speed, his shovel cutting through the air, leaving emptiness in its wake.
Grim Spectacle: Pretty neat, but the last sentence feels out of place to me. Maybe it could say "as an additional cost to cast this spell, you may sac. If you do, copy this spell?" 8/10

It is a quiet night in the graveyard, and then, in a magical distortion, The Dungeon appears.
It rises up from the earth, appearing almost like the other mausoleums, but it's made of a far paler stone, and as smooth as if it was polished yesterday.
Once it finishes, it opens; a set of stairs leads down into a branching, torchlit corridor.

Vidus inspects the dungeon's opening. "Well, this is new." He sticks his head inside the door and looks around. After a while, he tentatively walks down the stairs and into the torchlit corridor. The gem on the handle of Vidus's shovel flashes. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But maybe this will help us understand this plane more." The gem does not flash again, simply twinkling in the soft light of the torches on the wall. Vidus turns and continues on into the depths of the dungeon. The Endtrance: Very simple and neat dungeon. Not entirely sure how all of the rooms are supposed to connect flavorwise (mystic smithy specifically), but otherwise pretty good. 8/10Simic Genestealer Creature - Elf Mutant If you would create one or more tokens, create twice that many tokens instead. If you would put one or more counters on a permanent you control, also put that many counters on ~. [2/2]

This could be a response to a lot of dungeons, but it's a cool card. 8/10. The dungeon, this time, begins with a long descent, down stairs that are unstable in places-though they don't exactly look broken; it's as though they were made that way. Eventually, the pale stone reaches what looks like a mine, torchlit and branching. Some of the tunnels have oversized purpleish grubs within them. Others have untapped minerals. None seem to have evidence of recent mining.
Perhaps more notably, the occasional tunnels that do lead to the surface lead to utterly different parts-one comes out in a mountainous region, another in a workshop, a third at the entrance in the graveyard that Vidus used, and many of them reach these locations despite seemingly never going back uphill.

"You! Gravedigger." said a gruff voice from behind the shovel-wielding man, belonging to a Drow, holding a tome under his arm. "I see your... aura. And I understand from it and from your tool that you have a knowledge of death of some sort. What is it you know of death, and your relation to it is what?"Sudden Inquisition Sorcery Target player reveals their hand. You choose a nonland card from it with converted mana cost 3 or less. Vidus studies his surroundings. Nothing makes sense. How could something like this exist. He takes the shovel off of his back, the aura around him growing darker. He decides to head into the areas with untapped minerals. Vidus kneels down and inspects the crystals. "Can you make any sense of this?" he says to the shovel. The jewel flashes once. "Hmm. This card is kind of mediocre; with the average value of venturing, it could easily be 2 mana. However, I think I judged Simic Genestealer too harshly, so I'll give this one a few extra points to make up for it. The corridor terminates in a cave entrance, leading out into a huge cavern. There was a battle here, and recently. The paved limestone of the floor is filled with blades, hastily-made traps, and corpses. The buildings are empty, mostly looted-but not entirely. A few summoned creatures still wander the area. Somewhat far away, you see a wall, and smoke coming from beyond it.

Vidus inspects the site of the recent battle. Whenever he encounters a body strewn across the ground, he gets out a shovel and begins to dig. Once the hole is deep enough, he takes the body and sets it in the opening before filling the hole with the excavated dirt and sticking one of the blades into the ground as a makeshift headstone. He then says a small prayer, "may your rest never be disturbed, save by those who care for you," and moves on to the next body. He makes sure not to get in the line of sight of any of the summoned creatures as to not draw their ire, and steps between the traps as if the spaces between were stepping stones on a river. Once he finishes burying the bodies, Vidus continues on towards the wall and the smoke. Two Days After: Pretty neat. I like the use of different rooms as areas of different bits of debris. 10/10Want Not Enchantment Whenever you discard a card, you may exile it from your graveyard. If you do, if it's a land card, add ; if it's a creature card, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token with decayed; and if it's a noncreature, nonland card, exile the top card of your library and you may play that card this turn. Wounding Blade Sorcery Target creature gets -3/-3 until end of turn. If it doesn't die, its controller loses 3 life. Vidus's body rotates the shovel from a slashing motion into a blocking position, the goldhewn blade sparking as it connected with the shaft of the shovel. Vidus's movements are heavy and brutal, as if he were wielding something far, far weightier than the shovel in his hands. He brings the shovel down again and again, the force of each attack moving Aelewin backwards. Vidus's body falters, stepping back, shovel-free hand on his forehead, wincing in pain. His eyes are no longer unnatural, his breathing now labored. It lasts only a moment, before the demon regains control. But it's a moment too many. A red line appears across Vidus's chest. His body looks down, surprised. The next moment, he's on the ground, clutching at his new wound, a guttural yell erupting from his throat. He rolls around on the ground, across muddy water and rotting remains.

Want Not: 10/10. I almost gave this a 7 for just being a worse Waste Not, and then I reread Waste Not. This card is a really cool self-discard payoff. Based on Waste Not I think maybe the order should be creature/land/neither instead of land/creature/neither, but I'm not going to take points off for templating. The ground is made of limestone; significantly harder to break than dirt, but not impossible. However, refilling the holes is tricky. It would probably require slowly smashing the stone into gravel. The bodies are human, gnome, and surrakar; they wear a variety of outfits, the most common by far being black robes with some minor padding. Most of the bodies seem to have died fighting, but some look like civilians-unarmed and unarmored.
The buildings provide ample cover with which to hide from a shade, and they're not made to notice things like bodies moving into holes. As Vidus approaches the gates, there start to be fewer and fewer bodies-and the ones that are there are mutilated, or have all their bones missing, or are in similar states of disarray. Finally, at the gates stand a human and a surrakar, in dark robes. They have not noticed Vidus yet.

Vidus silently stood up and beckoned for the Drow to follow. They made their way to a secluded part of the gaveyard, where the gnarled trees obscured the moon's light and mist clung to the legs of the two. Vidus held his shovel with both hands.
