The mouth on Avis' side hungrily consumes Iritola's hand and lodestone as well, expanding slightly to accommodate everything in it. It starts gnawing and biting down, trying to chew up whatever is in the maw in order to swallow. Avis starts to move, slowly rising to her hands and knees, unable to stand fully because of where the formed mouth is. "Sorry... Too... hungry..." She chokes out, looking apologetically at Iritola.
Protective Gear - Love this simple protection aura. 10/10 Fevered Consumption Instant Target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn. It gets an additional -1/-1 until end of turn for each creature that died this turn.
Iritola hisses as teeth dig into her leg, arm, and hand. "I'm sorry too," she says through her own gritted teeth. "This is going to hurt." And with that she closes her eyes and focuses on the mana around her. Every color has a different presence and blue has always been easiest for her to pull out of the air. It's more diffused on this plane, less solid but easier to accumulate. It takes very little effort to gather what she needs in her hand and start compressing it into a ball (more or less) of pure energy. She spares just a touch to coat her hand - a thin shield for what she's about to do. And then she crushes that ball, slamming more mana into it until it explodes, ripping through the woman's leg and Iritola's own hand. Necessary Measures Enchantment : Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand, if it was put there from the battlefield this turn, draw a card. Activate only as a sorcery. Fevered Consumption: This is a really fun removal spell. 9/10

The seemingly unaffected man sits aside, nervously running his hands all over, trying to find a lump of his own. The tourniquet wraps around the other, cornering whatever it is beneath his skin. It begins to wriggle back down. The green and yellow discoloration begins to appear on his skin, which is growing hotter and hotter... Sorcery Target creature you control gets +X/+X until end of turn. It deals damage equal to its power to up to one target creature or planeswalker.
Localized Relief - think this is missing an ETB for that scry 2, plus the enchant creature line. mechanic-wise is nice, defend-wise kinda odd to 0/4 your own creature permanently 8/10
Iritola shoves another cool cloth at him. "Wipe yourself down. And chew this." She runs over to the other one. "You too, its willow bark, it'll help with the fever."
With those immediate concerns dealt with, she crouches next to the heating sigil on the ground and pulls out a knife. She feeds mana into the sigil and starts to heat up the blade. She hopes she doesn't have to use it, but... better to be prepared. "I need you to keep telling me what's happening with your arm."Self Preservation Instant Return target creature to its owner's hand. If its power was 3 or less, scry 1.
Burning Up - This is a nasty removal spell. My main concern is that if the opponent only has one creature, this fizzles, but the X gives you a lot of control over the resources you drop into it. 9/10

In the commotion, no one had noticed the lack of coughs from the sick man. All attention was away from him as he lurched up. A pulsing red goo reached out from his mouth as the parasite took its first clumsy steps.

Suddenly the screaming of the two colliding infected men is pierced by a loud BANG from behind. Suddenly from the two men sprung a flash of blue light, pushing them away from each other, freezing their torsos, arms, and knees in bursts of ice. A short man in a trench coat and hat, smoking a cigarette, blows the smoke from his revolver."Talk about timing." He moves quickly to the two and the group, maintaining his distance from the frozen two, seeing that at least one was quite rabid. As always, it looked familiar, yet different. "What in the seven Hells is going on here? Some kind of junkie overdose?" he asks the medic, brandishing his weapon and keeping it ready in case, like a good conversation starter, they broke the ice.Frostwoven Ammunition Artifact - Ammo Equipment Equip Whenever equipped creature attacks, you may tap target creature an opponent controls. Reload - Whenever equipped creature becomes untapped, you may put an Ammo card from your hand onto the battlefield attached to equipped creature, then return ~ to your hand. (If "Aura Cartouche" can exist, so can "Ammo Equipment". At least, that's what I'm deciding.) Guest system assist (that's my excuse as to why it's bad)! "We have to make sacrifices in war," Iritola mutters to herself as she continues to concentrate on the knife, even as two of her patients attack each other. "We save the ones we can."Finally the knife is hot enough that she can run over to the remaining man. "These guys just got back from Wormwood's shop and they brought something back with them! It isn't magical, as far as I can tell!" She yells over her shoulder at the visitor. "This is going to suck," she tells her patient as she drags him over to one of the sigils set up on the ground. "Brace yourself on three. One-" she holds his arm still and then starts trying to cut the thing (parasite? creature?) out of his arm. All-Purpose Solution 1 Enchantment - Aura : Untap enchanted creature. : Enchanted creature gains flying until end of turn. : Counter target spell or ability that targets enchanted creature unless its controller pays 2. : Switch enchanted creature's power and toughness until end of turn. Iritola tackles the parasite, using her own momentum to stab the hot knife into the creature. If this isn't enough to kill it- there's no time to consider ifs. Experimental Waste Instant Destroy target creature you own or control. Draw two cards. Every plan begins with an idea. Every idea has a cost.
Your Very Heart Betrays - What a rad name + flavor combo! The balance looks pretty good, really enjoying this card 9/10

"I'm no bones but this doesn't look healthy, doc." he says, turning to look at her momentarily, seeing the strand latch onto her skin as she delved for the blob, trying to kill it and with it the tendril trying to get where it shouldn't be, before his attention is turned to the frozen two. The heat radiates from them and he can see a large puddle quickly forming at their feet.
"...Aw hell, it's never easy, is it?" he asks no one in particular, huffing a quick drag from the cigarette, taking aim and shooting into the more rabid one's head. It's not looking good for the second as he lines up the revolver to it, and lets another bullet fly.Gunshot Instant ~ deals 5 damage to target creature. Sometimes, it's just that simple.

The parasite within the tourniquet is still small, at the stab of the knife, the creature dissolves away, expedited by the extreme heat. Within a few stabs, it has been reduced to nothing. The man is still grunted at his own stab, but other than a sizeable loss of blood from the parasite, is going to be fine.
At a shot from the detective, his fully infected friend is most definitely not fine. A mass of red explodes from the dead man: Not blood, but the parasite hidden inside of him. Where the one killed by Iritola was smaller than her fist, several feet worth of the red flesh strands unravel from the gunshot wound. Part of the creature is dissolving away from the impact, but so much more of it remains. The body shrivels, then turns red as the parasite absorbs it to grow ever larger to make up for the protection it no longer provided. The growing mass flows over to the frozen man, who screams out as best he can as it tries to do the same to him. Three tendrils slam down like a hand and drag the mounds of flesh towards whoever is closest. Experimental Waste - nice 10/10Gunshot - bang up flavor work, maybe a touch overpriced. 8/10

Iritola stabs the dissolving parasite a few more times than necessary, until the parasite absolutely stops moving. It takes a second to remember that there's a man bleeding out right next to her. "Shit!" She tightens and refastens the tourniquet, then jumps up to grab some towels and press it to the bloody wound. She ties the towel tightly, then grabs a bowl of dark liquid and scrawls a sigil on the towel. Mana begins to collect in the symbol then, with a little bit of molding, Iritola creates a thin shield of mana between the wound and the outside world. "Just. Don't die, okay? Hide or run or do whatever you have to do but keep that dry and don't fucking die." Then she submerges her hands in the ink bowl before standing up. The thing about researchers is that, even under the weirdest circumstances, they're pretty protective over their work. Iritola might not have parasite curses in her makeshift shop, but that doesn't mean she has no way to defend what's hers. She walks up, almost certainly to within slapping distance of the bigger parasite and drops her hands to the ground and starts sketching. Mana rushes toward her and it's so familiar now, in this clearing where she's slept and toiled and studied, that it's easy to pull it from the sigils lighting up around the clearing. Including the about third of them that are under the burning parasite. It takes more effort to start pulling the essence of the creature itself away, but the theory isn't difficult - if you can put energy into a system, you can take energy out, and the sigils act as a lever that allow her to control far more mana than she would otherwise be able to. Her ink-stained hands twitch and twist as Iritola attempts to suck everything that this creature is, out of it. At first it recoils, pulling off the now singed and defrosting bystander. Another burning tendril slams down, pulling itself towards the detective, desperate to get its revenge before the flames can do their work.
Iritola doesn't give it the chance. The creature glows as its internals are yanked out from the spell and it is reduced back into simple aether.
Small fires are scattered about the clearing. A half-frozen man with half burns is struggling to get away from Rolt. A man in a tourniquet hides behind Iritola's structures. A black rift is crawling several hundred meters tall on the horizon. But the creature, at last, is gone.

mordecai/nox Some time after the Creatures of Elsewhere... That odd surveyor finds his way near Iritola's sanctuary, though doesn't seem to be aware the apothecary's presence in the area. Attached to his back are a pair of triangular wedges, currently folded down, that would seem to resemble wings, attached to a vest that goes over the traveler's other clothing.
They are currently interfacing with a device wrapped around their left forearm, a projected image of the local airspace hovering over it, seeming to detail wind currents and airstreams. "So far nothing too surprising, although I'm sure the others would have enjoyed more tumultuous flight paths."Eager Surveyor Creature - Human Artificer Flying Eager Surveyor enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it. “By land, by sea, or by air, we will explore this new world!”[1/1]
