Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our twenty-eighth challenge! The winner of the “No pain no gain poll“ was thaneofglamis with... |
{Comments} This contest gives me the perfect excuse to use two of my favorite cards in one deck: Pyrohemia and Fungusaur! With the help of Cacophodon, Pyrohemia can be used to make Fungusaur bigger and bigger, as well as its siblings Snapping Sailback and War Elemental! Hopefully I can survive this reckless use of dinosaurs as fuel long enough to trample over my opponent with Primal Rage! I also included Bloodfire Dwarf and Rain of Embers as pseudo-Pyrohemias, and to make the deck fit the challenge requirements. Ravenous Daggertooth helps offset the damage from Pyrohemia, and Silverclad Ferocidons helps with the late game - although I considered replacing the Ferocidons with Deep-Slumber Titan to keep the mana curve down, and for extra jank points. Advice is appreciated! |
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Make a deck that includes at least two different cards from Fallen Empires! Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Fungal Frenzy (Pauper)Fungus and saproling tribal, where you get your saps out, and then use Pallid Mycoderm's ability for a swing in. PS: still gotta remove "%7D" from the url when on the testtable (and hit start game)

Your dedication to making a certain type of post on a specific kind of day strikes me as being somewhere beween iritating and slightly annoying.

Order of PestilenceDecklist(Oldschool, Budget)A (Budget) Oldschool take on a Pauper strategy - get out Pestilence and Order of Leitbur (or another pro-black creature) to keep the board clear while you safely burn your opponent to death. Drain Life helps keep your life total high and your opponent's low. If there's any Enchantments or Artifacts you might be worried about that your removal can't handle, fire up a Hymn to Tourach or two before your opponent can play them and shut you down. For the low price of about 17 USD, it's great way to bring a neat trick to the table that can scale well with multiplayer games and play some politics while being as controlling or political as you need it to be. Why Budget? To have a feasible shot at playing this thing without breaking the bank. A lot of Oldschool cards that would obviously make his strategy better are mostly already famous no-brainers like Demonic Tutor or Swords to Plowshares, the relevant Power 9 and duals, and Mind Twist, which leads to a situation where the deck mostly builds itself out of value cards. Going budget means we have to actually pull in some B-listers like Jalum Tome and Terror to serve as card draw and removal respectively.
