Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and thirteenth challenge!
The winner of the "Something old, something new" poll was voltaic-qui with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... I've always found it odd that Avatar of Me, the card ostensibly representing you the player, is mono-blue. Let's fix that. Design a card with the following two restrictions: 1. It's a Human. (Tribal noncreatures are okay, although there's a reason the tribal type is deprecated.) 2. Your card's color identity exactly matches the color alignment on your profile. If you don't know how to set that up, go to „Profile → Edit Profile → Personal → Color Alignment“ and check off the boxes that apply to you. For instance, I (challenge poser voltaic-qui) am black/green, so my card might resemble Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, but I couldn't submit something like Abzan Guide. Note that colorless is not a color for the purposes of color identity, so if you identify as WUC (for some reason), you don't need to include  anywhere in your card.
Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post.And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Here's a recent design I came up with for a different contest - now with up to date Dominaria wordings.  As only Un-cards could care about commons, I decided to focus on my crush for the Fortress subtype instead. |

Im Green/White and I like "life gain" cards. So here I made just that. {first design}Mana cost    Landfall — Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you gain 1 life. ::T: Add or . 1/2 It felt flat as we have seen similar designs like that before, so i made it more interesting if I had to say. {Entry}  |

Would a design with part of my color identity with an off-color activation (i.e. commander identity) be allowed? Since there was a similar contest in the commander thread where I already did made a  Human I'd rather something slightly different. Also I recently took this awesome color personality test that I recommend to everyone that put me as < < < [power gap]< < and placed me in Dimir, so I'm feeling that as an entry. |

I have myself listed as colorless because I most likely resemble Eldrazi in my gaming tactics. Since this is not a color for the purpose of this contest, I shall go with my fallback... W/U (AZORIUS FTW) Ninety-Eight Pound Weakling   Creature - Human Whenever Ninety-Eight Pound Weakling would be dealt damage during your opponent's turn, negate that damage and put a Abuse counter on it. Then, if you have three or more Abuse counters on Ninety-Eight Pound Weakling, transform it. 0/1 ~~~~~ Two-Hundred Pound HeavyweightCreature - Human When Two-Hundred Pound Heavyweight enters play from anywhere, detain up to X target creatures you do not control, where X is the number of Abuse counters on it. 4/3 |

Hmmm... I took the test with 100 questions, and it places me at Blue with a huge gap (of more than 100 points) between Blue and the second highly placed color. I've always seen myself as mostly Blue, but capable of tapping into the other colors if they're useful to me. It's just that White (which is a distant second) and Red (which is actually the color with the least points for me) also share some values that resonate with me - fairness and honesty in case of White, and freedom in case of Red. Maybe I should take the test with the maximum of questions... [edit] - Taking the test with 175 gives me pretty much the same result.

I'm a bit iffy on defining myself within the colors of Magic. I might feel a little blue sometimes, but other times I don't. I think people are too nuanced to really be assigned colors, so I went with a kind of 'everything and nothing' approach for my card. I think the power level is alright, but the card might be breakable in some way I've missed. Let me know your thoughts.  Mistbender  Creature - Human Shaman  : Choose a color. Until end of turn, spells you cast and nonland permanents you control are the chosen color. “It can be difficult to tell whether reality is shifting around you, or if it’s just your perception of the world that has changed.”

Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, replace all instances of “target” with “each”. Whenever you cast a non-legendary creature spell, each other player creates a token that is a copy of that creature. 0/8 Probably not going to win with an uber group hug guy, but it's absolutely, 100% my playstyle. The trade off of having all your spells freely on Overload can be very useful, but also harmful. Again, the high risk and reward mentality that I take when playing Magic and any other game for that matter. ~Zuty

So play a living weapon and then turn all my opponents cards to 0/0 germs... Totally valid combo. Not even unfair or out of color - Kills them one at a time, and needs black mana. I built this card to make stuff like that possible! |
