Welcome to the Deckbuilders' Challenge originally created by sdfkjgh! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a deck along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of every two weeks, a winner will be determined by forum poll, and the winner decides the challenge for the next fortnight's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our fourteenth challenge! The winner of the “Forum Self-Portrait“ poll was melono with... |
(Commander)
{Comments} Here's a link to my ManaStack deck: manastack.com/deck/fruits-and-vegetablesIt's a commanders deck which has fruits and/or vegetables in all its art. Based off of my profile picture. The main card is hard to put, because I only chose the commander because it had fruit in its flavor text. Which is more than could be said about other possible commanders. I guess I could put the first card I used to start the deck off with here: And this was way too time-consuming, hot damn. Oh, and if I need to put in more info, tell me. |
And the challenge issued by our winner was... Please provide a decklist using deckstats, tappedout or similar. Feel free to add some comments as they will be included in the final poll. Please provide a deck name as well as choose a card to represent your deck in the poll. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Funnily enough, I already had a (really bad) deck built for this one:
The basic goal is simple - use Incandescent Soulstoke to cheat out elementals, then use Thunderkin Awakener to get them back later. This probably isn't my final deck - consider this to be a placeholder.OK, here's the deck I want to show off: Desecrated Idol (... and kinda )
The plan is that you cycle all of those Black and Red creatures you have, which either fuels your Ominous Seas or sets you up to pull off a big Idol of Endurance play. Exiling all of those creatures lets you either make a ton of bats or just cast some of the cards you couldn't cast normally. And, if your opponent is vulnerable? Idol of Endurance into Vile Manifestation, to make a big boi.

Hm, I actually had an idea for Forum Self-Portrait that might qualify for this. Might post again later with the deck if I finish it this time. melono - Really like this challenge idea btw. Feels a lot like what I was trying to go for with the Landless challenge in terms of promoting a certain playstyle but it's a lot more open-ended in a good way. One question though - it is okay for a deck to eventually be able to hardcast its "uncastable" cards with mana if the game somehow went long enough? (E.g. Mapi's deck can technically hardcast all its Elementals if it got to that point.)

The lands at your disposal are not enough, no matter how long things go. Lady Mapi can't actually hardcast Omnath, Locus of Rage, as they don't have green at their disposal in their lands, so it is legal in this challenge.

Got it, I missed the Omnath while skimming the decklist the first time. Thanks for clarifying!

Well yes, but that's not mana produced from a land so it falls within the challenge. Didn't realize that was there though or else I would have added that.

Sadly, as much as I liked this challenge, I wasn't really abnle to think off a deck I wanted to submit due to a lack of time and inspiration
This thread is now closed, with only one entry there (obviously) won't be any poll required.
And here's the next challenge!
