xylophone: The can do quite a lot. Picture any activated ability with as part of its cost. If is the only cost, then the rules for Evermind, et al apply: (Nonexistent costs can't be paid.) If, however, is just one payment out of many (say, Dreamscape Artist), then you no longer need to tap it to activate that ability.
Also, "can't be untapped" is quite a bit stronger than "doesn't untap", as the former can get around things like Unwinding Clock. Plus, when combined with the static ability, the is a bit more powerful than you seem to give it credit, as it targets any permanent, even lands.

Thanks for the win, I actually struggled between making it a +1 or +0 ability.
Next Challenge: Assuming you have dice, roll one and create a brand new planeswalker from that corresponding plane.
1 - Fiora 2 - Kylem 3 - Lorwyn/Shadowmoor 4 - Amonkhet 5 - Kamigawa 6 - Tarkir

Six. Hmm, time to come up with a non-Mardu, non-Jeskai walker. EDIT: Here we go, an aristocratic naga necromancer with a talent for dominating the undead of other mages. {Lore}Once living a luxurious lifestyle at the tops of the Sultai Hierarchy Anhali's spark ignited fleeing from Sidisi's supporters after a failed bid for power, finding herself on unknown shores near Kabira. Through charm and intimidation, Anhali found a place among a rough group of explorers on an expedition into the Agadeem crypts. An expedition that met an unfortunate end for her companions leaving her with a small fortune in treasure. Setting off to the tropical shores of Beyeen, Anhali began to establish herself in Zulaport turning to a less hazardous life of organized crime. After several run-ins with Indorel's syndicate, Anhali eventually managed to overcome and control the vampire himself, gaining full control of the city by proxy. Though her newfound position was not to last. When the Eldrazi devastation eventually reached the shores of Beyeen, Anhali confronted and was utterly overcome during a brief encounter with Ulamog, barely escaping the plane sustaining permanent injuries. Passing from plane to plane, Anhali sought her way home to seal herself away from the terrors from the multiverse only to arrive on a Tarkir plagued by its own ancient terrors: Dragons. In an unfamiliar homeland, Anhali now stands a final relic of a bygone age, raising the final army of the Khans to depose her hated rival and the dragons her corpse serves.

2 - Kylem Brrndrzzd, the Half-Wise Legendray Planeswalker - Brrndrzzd Soulbond (You may pair this with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.): The creature paired with Brrndrzzd gains flying and hexproof until your next turn. : Put two +1/+1 counters on the creature paired with Brrndrzzd. : Create three tokens that are copies of the creature paired with Brrndrzzd, except the tokens aren’t legendary if that creature is legendary and they are Illusions in addition to thair other types. Who says you can only pair creatures with other creatures? And of course you can activate the abilities when it's not paired, they just won't do anything on resolution.

Judging is up. Lots of very creative (and somewhat game-breaking) designs this week { sdfkjgh}This reminds me a fair bit of O.G. Tamiyo, sacrificing a little of the inevitability of the emblem for increased versatility among all its abilities, so the bump in cost seems just fine. While cute as it currently stands, it would be better for the general health of the game if the second loyalty ability prevented activated abilities with being activated. While you couldn't go off with a Goblin Fireslinger there's still too much potential for abuse in signet style effects and value oriented tap abilities, limiting future design space. { Flo00}Always a fan of creative loyalty generation though I would probably bump the cost by at the very least. Overall a solid value engine for a traditional control deck, with the potential to gain absurd amounts of loyalty in creature match-ups while remaining relevant in more grindy matches recurring a key sticky threat. Probably a bit biased towards the design as it fits right into my play-style of choice { Evil Coco}As sdfkjgh pointed out, spiders need reach, it's what sets them apart from the general insect subtype. That said, a type change wouldn't hurt the flavour of the card much anyway. Dynamic loyalty dependent on other resources is certainly a concept wizards is looking to explore, and this is a fine shell for one based on creatures, as a sweeper is no too devastating of a blow. However, I recommend adjusting the CMC and/or number of creatures generated on hitting the battlefield as in most cases this is a 5 mana single-sided sweeper with the potential to generate future value. Finally, while I'm not usually a stickler for syntax as wizards are pretty inconsistent themselves, I would adjust the to a and the with a '*'. This would remove any confusion over whether the first loyalty ability adds either 1 or 2 counters, while * stands as the traditional representation for a dynamic value. { pacifistwestwoman}An interesting take on a werewolf planeswalker, though I am curious why this isn't a new iteration of Arlinn as being a werewolf is pretty much her planeswalker identity. While I like the general transformation theme, its unfortunately costed just at the wrong point for the first loyalty ability to perfectly curve into the powerful transformation triggers of Awoken Horror and Huntsmaster. As a small final note, I'd also drop the second loyalty ability as it's not terribly necessary for the overall function and keeps the four ability template free for notably powerful planeswalkers in lore. { Daij_Djan}Now this is the way wizards should've pulled off Abian. Overall a nice clean design for a black planeswalker that doesn't encroach too much on the identities of its peers. I would tweak the first ability to either hit either artifacts or planeswalkers over enchantments as black doesn't see much enchantment hate outside of Theros. { ZephyrPhantom}Surprised we didn't see a similar 'Instant Planeswalker' design make its way into the WAR to be honest. In hindsight of Wrenn and Six, I might just bump the cost by at least as the increased versatility of instant speed pinging is significant, especially if you can activate this during your turn and your opponent's. {Podium}Winner:Daij_Djan Runner-up:Flo00

Big thanks for the win! The ability intentionally hits enchantments as MaRo explained them currently changing the color pie to grant black access to enchantment hate. Mire in Misery is considered the first (but not last) of its kind (for example see this article containing MaRo's full quote).
Anyway, for your next challenge.. Choose one --
- Design a monowhite planeswalker not creating tokens.
- Design a monoblue planeswalker not drawing cards.
- Design a monoblack planeswalker neither destroying nor sacrificing creatures.
- Design a monored planeswalker not dealing damage.
- Design a monogreen planeswalker not mentioning lands.

Nahiri, Roilsmith Legendary Planeswalker - Narhiri Activated abilities of artifacts you control cost less to activate. This ability can't reduce their cost below . : Put a +1/+1 counter on each equipped creature you control. Those creatures gain vigilance until end of turn. : You get an emblem with "Equipment you have "Sacrifice this permanent: Equipped creature gains indestructible until end of turn."" Just FYI, I'm aware of the monolith combos, but there's enough of those already anyway and I didn't want the design to be too narrow.

Koth the Earthshaker Legendary Planeswalker - Koth : Up to two target creatures each get +2/+0 and first strike until end of turn. : Exile the top card of your library. You may play it until your next turn. : Each opponent separates all permanents they control into three piles. Then each opponent chooses one of their piles at random and sacrifices those permanents. sdfkjgh Oh. Hm. Right. Well, I changed it to the card I was originally thinking of.

Flo00: It feels really wrong to take the ultimate from Liliana of the Veil and give an even more powerful version of it to Koth. On Lili, it absolutely fits storywise, character-wise, colorwise, and gameplay-wise, but on Koth, it feels like a violation.
*Tinfoil hats on*
The last time we had cards that felt this much like violations was in New Phyrexia, with cards such as Psychic Barrier, Vapor Snag, Inquisitor Exarch, (5:27) Check out this butt shot, Numbing Dose, and Victorious Destruction. Does your card show a compleated Koth? Have the Phyrexians attained their Final Victory over Mirrodin? Are you one of them, you monster?!
