Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and ninth challenge!
The winner of the "Time for a new twist" poll was Daij_Djan with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... With Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths on the horizon, people expect the return of “Battlecruiser Magic” with few very big creatures clasing with one another in Limited.One big question always is to balance beasts of this size at common in particular – so this is what this challenge is going to be all about: Design a common creature card with power and toughness each greater than 6 – or the ability to grow to these stats without having to rely on other cards helping them (so no auras enchanting them, no Giant Growth effects or similar).Note: This means your creature needs to be (or be able to grow to) a 7/7 at minimum. 
Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. I have doubts. What is the highest complexity allowed at common? I am theorizing a possible mechanic for mutate. Would that be allowed?

Daij_Djan, sdfkjgh: 2/2 + Bushido 4 = 6/6 no ? And Bushido is given by itself. If it doesn't count i'll change it but i just want one more confirmation please.

It's easy to miss if it's greater than 6 or greater than or equal to 6 and just see the number. |

Daij_Djan: Ahem... Ok i can't defend myself. ^^ As an mtg player i should never make this kind of mistake. Entry updated.  Jartis: I don't agree much on the comparisons you chose, considering these cards. The flexibility of X at vanilla is considered as  while the flexibility of X-1 at vanilla is considered as . Anyway, we've seen recentrly with Stonecoil Serpent that these standards of rarity on  creatures are a bit obsolete. I'm probably ok with your entry as it has a small downside that is not being able to grow larger than 7/7. thaneofglamis: Considering Faultgrinder your Evoke cmc should at least be 4, it will still result in better stats, better cmc, better etb trigger and better Evoke cmc.

 I made a mana symbol for "Discard a card" appearing as an activation cost. I figure this one is OK because you would have to have 8 lands in most limited formats or all four of your Temple Gardens in modern. It is possible, but extremely unlikely to get an 8/8 on turn 4 in commander if you own a Savannah. |

KingGutty: I think your upload is funny because WotC has NEVER dared printing anything big and flying at either or  . --> Proof here (or here if you want to scroll and check a hundred cards). In fact, apart from Goliath Sphinx and Brimstone Dragon which are terrible, it seems they never even tried to make any big {vanilla+flying} creature.

Xenagos - Given that it doesn't have a way to remove its own -1/-1 counters, I'm not sure that meets the "without having to rely on other cards helping them" clause, since unassisted it's an effective 5/5.

Attachment DeletedIf anyone could PM on how to make mtg.design links not gigantic that would be greatly appreciated. (as the attachment is a little small, but I also don't want to use too much space) Regardless, the intention of the card is to offer a small safety measure against counter effects in pauper in case they ever become too strong or annoying for the format because as of now no common has "This spell can't be countered.". This would most likely be side board card. It doesn't have trample because at this point of time I don't think wizards would allow that level of complexity on a common.
