Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and ninety-fifth challenge! The winner of the "Employee of the Week" poll were Aarhg (left) and voltaic-qui (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... In tribute to that other definition of "spell," and that other Hasbro IP: Design an instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost X, where X is the Scrabble tile value of the first letter in your username. If you need a list: - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T, U: 1
D, G: 2 B, C, M, P: 3 F, H, V, W, Y: 4 K: 5 J, X: 8 Q, Z: 10
To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

My actual entry that does follow the rules. Attachment DeletedIt costs two mana to hose it, so why not three to join in.

I mean, if you insist... Technically this does not meet the criteria for the challenge because X in a converted mana cost is always 0.

@@jamesbrafin: your card indeed needs to have a CMC of 8.
@ sdfkjgh: Only the first letter counts It's CMC 1 for you.

I know, this was meant as a slightly non-serious entry hoping it might get accepted. That being said, I will have an entry for this, because it looks like a fun challenge.

Ok, here goes:
Unquestionable Authority
Legendary Tribal Instant--Noble
Split second
This spell can’t be countered. This spell can’t be cast unless you control a legendary Noble creature. This spell costs less to cast for each permanent on the battlefield. Untap all permanents and gain control of them. You get an emblem with “Permanents you control have haste” and “Permanents enters the battlefield under your control.”
HAHA, DISREGARD THAT, I SEW SOCKS!
Overclock Enchantment--Aura Enchant creature Flash Overclock enters the battlefield with X effort counters on it. Whenever Overclock becomes attached to a creature, that creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn for each effort counter on Overclock. Enchanted creature gets -1/-1 for each effort counter on Overclock.

Obviously meant for multiplayer formats like commander where politics are a thing. Happy holidays!
That's a lot like this card I designed (NOT AN ENTRY):
Information Exchange Instant Target player draws a card. Target player draws a card. Target player draws a card. You draw a card for each different player other than you that drew a card this way.

sdfkjgh Huh, yea kinda. Mine is just more useless (as most white "draw" spells are). You really gotta guilt your opponents into letting you draw.

First thought - "Couldn't you just target yourself and be the only one who gets cards?" Second thought - "This is absolutely broken in team formats." In that respect, I think Gift of Giving does a bit better, since it specifies opponents, so you can't use it to just stack your own side of the board.

kefke: No matter how you target, you're guaranteed to draw three cards with Information Exchange. Yes, it can be busted in team formats, but I see it as more of a political card.

Alright, 1 mana cost instant or sorcery. That's an incredibly limiting thing to play with, but I suppose that'll make it fun? Bribe Sorcery You may tap an untapped wizard you control to pay for in Bribe's mana cost. This effect reduces only the amount of colored mana you pay. Target player reveals the top X cards of their library, then target opponent of that player selects one card, put the chosen card into its owner's hand and the rest on the bottom of their library in any order. Then the chosen opponent draws a card. Looked through uncommon 1 drops and found Blackmail so I tried making a blue version of it. It's a bit wordy, but I don't think it's overpowered.

Immense Meteor Instant ~ costs less to cast for each red spell you cast this turn. ~ deals 5 damage to any target. With enough propulsion, everything is a bullet.

Sliver Hivemind has all abilities of other Slivers. Isn't this, by definition of what a sliver ability is, useless ? Except if you play changelings maybe. inferno390: Your card is 10 times better than Explosion, which is currently the main card of a top 10 standard deck. If you increase the cost of the kicker it should be fine though.

Wait, so which card gets discarded, the one the opponent chose, or the one you chose? If I'm reading the flavor text right, a better wording would be:
Target opponent reveals their hand and exiles a card from it. Then you choose a card from that hand. That player discards the chosen card and returns the card exiled this way to its owner's hand.
