(Shortly after Hannah's visit to the Seventh Circle station.) Hannah returns in the company of an elf; they have a crossbow loaded and ready, and are continually glancing around for danger. "Good day, Ms. Nisita. What with all the recent chaos, the Chief thought it'd be best if someone made sure your daughter got home safely. Though, if you have the time, I'd like to ask you a few questions about your recent robbery. You see, someone just set our station here on fire, and we've got reason to believe they might be the same person who broke into your house."Tam, House Lyr Guide Legendary Planeswalker — Tam : Up to one target creature gains haste until end of turn. Arina looks at Hannah worriedly, lightly tapping her transceiver while she listens to the elf finish their sentence. Hannah returns with a smile and a wave. "Yes, absolutely. If there are questions you would like answered, I can answer them to the best of my ability." Arina glances at her transceiver, notices Hannah is unharmed, and relaxes. "I appreciate you guiding Hannah back. If these attacks are continuing to happen, I may have to arm her myself."
Yes! At long last I can put a Memnite with 4 loyalty counters into play! I'm not sure if I actually play Tam outside limited, but that unblockability is sure getting into my limited decks. 8/10. I was trained to be able to awake in the case of an attack while traveling alone." Arina glances at Hannah, rolls her eyes with a sigh, and admits, "I was exhausted that night because I had worked too much, so I was unable to awaken whenever the thief entered. All entrances were frozen shut because Hannah, Karina, and myself were all inside overnight.""Did the thief leave any traces behind?" "Beyond the dagger, none that I have noticed."Seeker Tam's double -X is interesting. cajunFor the second time since Hannah arrived here, she has been heavily struck by her reliance on aether. For the second time since Hannah arrived here, her aether canister would have to be shattered. For the second time since Hannah arrived here, her tunneler would need to be repaired. But first, Hannah and Arina needed to survive. And there was only one way within this damned field that Arina could find to do that. Hannah was feeling the effects of exhaustion first, but Arina wouldn't be far behind and she was their only hope of survival at this point. Get to a high source of aether, and use it. Using the remaining atmospheric aether before the field can, Arina casts two spells. The first pulls Hannah's remaining aether canister to her. She covers the distance, painfully but capably, to Hannah's tunneler. Hannah was here already. Excellent. The second produces two shards of ice. One through the canister, one through the aetheric glass of the oscillator, producing a massive cloud of white aether and a constant stream of the rest of it. Arina has no knowledge of how to build these devices, but she certainly studied their capabilities. This was the one and only upside to an oscillator compared to a high-energy reactor. These oscillators can produce aether on their own. And in fact, they can do so without an export mechanism, if left to the open environment. As long as she and Hannah stayed here, they could survive long enough for Arina to cast any spell of relevance.Critical Malfunction: Whoops. This hurts a bunch. Curse of Death's Hold is a 5-mana double density black rare already, so this is probably supposed to cost six. 7/10 Wasting Away: Curse of Thirst is really sad about this one. This one definitely needs to cost more. 6/10 (Tactical Imperator attack meets Tactical Imperator Defense. This time both people are doing something! ... kind of.) Sorcery Return any number of nonland permanents with converted mana cost X or less to their owners' hands. Target player discards X cards. (Karina the friend can do any number of things to assist with this situation)
Also cajun kinda. So you're aware of it. Hannah is disabled. Temporarily. High concentrations of aether solve that problem really quickly. What happened? Why happened? Reyhsia's turned evil! The text comes in on Hannah's transceiver. From Karina. You need to knock off her hat! She's the one who's been stealing things and setting fires! And she locked me up, so you're going to need to rescue me. Tell your mom. And... stay safe. I don't want to lose you too. "Karina..." Hannah says softly. Mom is busy. This is up to her. Her following responses are not nearly as soft. "Alert Master Sara! Contact Master Sara!"The Master's response is immediate. "Hannah, what's wrong?""I need a breaching detonator! You know, one of those things they use for salvage runs!""Uh--" Hannah doesn't need to see the Master's face to understand she's confused. "When?""Now! A friend needs my help!""Alright! Detonator on the way!" Only a few moments later, three small round technological spheres materialize in front of her. She only asked for one. Why are there three? Hannah puts them in a pocket and stands herself. She checks herself for the dagger Mom made sure she learned how to use. Hannah is ready. She can save Karina.
And that's when Mom notices. Or she had overheard the conversation. "Hannah. Where do you intend to go?"Hannah stared her mother straight in the eyes. "Karina's in trouble. I need to go save her.""You are not a hero, Hannah, you are a child. I cannot let you-""I don't have a choice, Mom! Karina's my friend, and she needs me!" Hannah and Mom stare at each other for another moment. "Miss Reyhsia attacked us. Karina said she turned evil, and you need to knock her hat off. That's what you need to do."
It's a weird feeling, ordering Mom to do something. It's an even weirder feeling when Mom nods back. "You have your dagger. You know where you are going. You... you can take care of yourself?"
Hannah taps the ping button. "I know where to go. And before you ask, no, I'm not gonna die while I'm out there. I'd be a really bad rescuer if I did that." Mom leans down to hug Hannah. It's only a moment longer when Mom stands up and send Hannah away.
"Contact Karina Oblay. I'm on the way."

THE NIGHT AFTER OKUS RETURNS "Arina!" She blinks. She's back in Shaidosta. Her Elancean instructor is leaning over the table, eyeing her carefully. She stares back. "What's wrong?" "I—" Her words get caught in her throat. "I Severed someone today..." She stares down at the table. "Hm... Kid, do you think it’s important for a Master to do the best thing for their Faction, regardless of how they feel about it?" Her gaze jumps up to her instructor. "Of course! That is the Master’s entire job! If you do not listen to the faction, what is your purpose?" "Do you think what you did was the best for the faction?" Arina closes her eyes and shakes her head. "Then you are a traitor, are you not? And what do we do with traitors in Shaidosta?" Arina's eyes snap open to see her instructor leaping at her, his hands shifting into claws. She reaches up a hand to cover her face as his form twists further, distending into a monstrous lupine creature. His claws reach around her arm, finding her throat, and she awakens.
Shaidosta is gone. She's an adult, not a scared student. She's on the Arena again. And the creature... is still there.
Just outside her house is a small tear in the sky. When she finds it, she can see through it a strange space; colors whirling in incomprehensible patterns. She knows, instinctively, that it is gravely dangerous.

"The Aether Tunneler's a pretty big deal in Entela. It's been a big project since even before I was born. There's only one in the whole multiverse right now!"
"Really? Only one?"
"Yep! I heard the stories about it, and Deep Storage, and Reality Augmentation. They're super important things, and you know? I've decided I want to make something like that too, so I asked Master Sara to let me come here and do it as a student."
"I'm happy you did."
"I am too! But, you know, I'll have to leave soon... But we've got transceivers! So I can always tell you about everything I've been doing and we can always find each other!"
"I'm... really sad to leave, but I can't be Entela's best Head Engineer ever if I don't go back, right? So I'm gonna go back, we're gonna keep talking, and I'll make something of legend all on my own!"

"Uninjured, thankfully," Arina says as Hannah returns. She is poking her transceiver. Hannah nods quietly and sits down in Mom's chair before releasing her vials onto her desk. Only one of her silvery-blue aether vials remain, but all three of her restoration vials are still sealed. The two empty vials roll along the table, stopping themselves against an open book. "Did you accomplish your task?"
"Yeah..." Hannah lightly rolls one of the empty vials around. "Karina's safe, unhurt. Miss Rey's... alive." The image of Miss Rey's injuries come back to Hannah, and her whole body shakes for a moment while she takes a deep breath. "Karina's not really... happy, much. Guess that happens when you don't have a Mom around, or when the closest thing to a Mom you have is..." Arina winces, but Hannah doesn't seem to notice.
"Mom, you're not allowed to die." Hannah crosses her arms. "Dad and I would be too sad without you."
"That is not a concern you need to have." Arina smiles at Hannah. "I do not intend to die for a long time. I..." have destroyed too many families to cause the same harm to you. Arina decides that finishing her sentence was unwise for her child. "Once you left, I realized that you did not tell me where Reyhsia was. I became trapped following ghosts of mana that did not truly exist in my attempt to locate her. She was using some form of spell refraction so the source of her spell was not where she was."
Hannah stares at Arina blankly. "I love you, Mom. I've gotta contact Master Sara and then head to bed, alright?"
"Understood. Ly-thei ria, Hannah."
"I declared faction protection on someone today."
"R-really." There was a yawn from the other side of the call.
"Yep. She was being mind-controlled and then stopped, but everyone pointed weapons at her."
"Uh... Yeah, that's a reason we'd declare protection on someone... And they actually listened to you?"
"No! They said you don't have juris here, whatever that means."
"That's about how I should've expected that to go. Faction protection only works with... you know, factions. That's only a thing that works because the ten of us agreed that it works, so no one else should care about it."
"Oh... well, okay, that's it then."
"Did you have any leftover detonators from your rescue?"
"Nope, I had to use them all."
"Glad I sent them to you. Did you save your friend?"
"Yep, Karina's perfectly safe."
"Excellent. Will that be it then?"
"Yep. Good night, Master Sara."

How was Hannah going to fix this thing without asking for more glass? The aether glass-smoothy thingy wasn’t going to fix the massive hole Mom put in it. Hannah loved her mom, but sometimes Mom made her life really difficult. Hannah asked for so much from Master Sara over the last couple of days. It didn’t look like Hannah had much of a choice here though. Or, maybe the amount of time she spent talking to Karina last night meant she couldn’t think straight. Who knows?
There was a familiar flash of high-concentration equilibrated magic that was basically the only spell Hannah could actually recognize that wasn’t a power script: that was an aether tunnel. Hannah stood up and turned around in one motion to look the person that ended up behind her. She was dressed wearing a very official Entelan uniform; long, black with a gold trace around the edges of the sleeves, waist, and ankles. She was also carrying a large backpack that looked as though she intended to live out here for a while. She stood like she had stood up too quickly, with her hand on her head as she struggled to regain her balance. “How did you accidentally exhaust? I just got here and I can feel it."
”Hi, Miss Seiva! What’re you doing here so early?”
”Uh, I’m actually here…” Seiva looks at her transceiver, “Half a week behind schedule, since you’ve had so much stuff slowing you down. We need you to finish this thing and I’ve gotta go make sure that we’re not getting in the way of, you know, governments or whatever. Is your Mom around?”
”Oh, yeah, she’s inside…”
”Something wrong, Hannah?”
"Hm? Oh, sorry, it's nothing.”
”Oh, hm… Well, you’ll have to talk to your mom about that nothing, then. You're always full of energy, so seeing you like this... seems like something's wrong.”
”Oh, thanks Miss Seiva. I think I'm just tired.” Hannah stretched and yawned. "I didn't end up sleeping last night. Working on this thing." Hannah watched as Seiva walked away to go locate Mom. Miss Seiva could probably finish the Tunneler today if she tried. She headed the project to make the first one. But… Hannah wasn’t ready to go yet, so she was thankful that Miss Seiva was going to be doing something other than working on the Tunneler.
”Hey, Miss Arina,” Seiva said as she walked in through Arina’s open door. A map was lightly hung on her wall. There was a small metal box with a door, on top of which was a stack of books and papers.
”You know that you do not have to be so formal, Seiva. You are not a child anymore.”
”I know, but I feel like if I stop being a kid then I’m gonna get boring, right? You know, like you!” Seiva waited for a moment as Arina lightly chuckled. “Also, it’s really funny that it bothers you so much.”
”I cannot help but notice that you are here before Hannah is finished.”
”Just diplomatic stuff for now. I’m not supposed to help Hannah unless she asks me for help, but I’d might as well start checking around.” Seiva shrugged. “Speaking of, is there a government on this plane I’m supposed to talk to?”
”The Seventh Circle Initiative is the closest. I am not certain if they have… political power on this plane but they have a large interplanar division, so you will absolutely have to talk to them.”
”Perfect, thanks.” Seiva paused and thought about Hannah. “By the way, Hannah seems concerned about something. Not sure what.”
”I can…” Arina paused. "I think it may be about her friend; she has gone through a lot recently and has been acting... unusual. I will ask the Seventh Circle about her the next time I visit them."
”Oh, her friend is with the Seventh Circle? I’ll ask about it while I’m over there. No reason not to have me just do it.” Seiva looks up at the crudely drawn map and points at a point labeled “7CI”. “Seventh Circle?”
”Correct, you will need to go there. They have an outpost larger than the one you intend to set up.”
”Wonderful.” Seiva dropped her backpack to the side of the metal box. Arina made no mention if it if she noticed. Seiva waved off at Arina as she began her hike to the Seventh Circle.
Seiva Zeni, the progenitor of the Aether Tunneler, has joined Arina and Hannah in the Arena.

What does the Eternity Project want? Walking into the questioning from the Seventh Circle, I didn't have an immediate answer. Not any more than having places for Entelans to study or live beyond the confines of this... what did the First Masters call it, a prison? I guess that sounds about right. Volaria's great, but it's so small, so limiting when there's such a great world out there, with so many people to meet, so many things to see. I think that's why I started doing this originally, and that's not really gone, but there's more now.
Volaria's a place where we learn to cooperate. So many of us, in such a small place. It's astonishing places like Theria or Shaidosta have any natural life left, but I guess that's also cooperation, isn't it? I want to work with other planes, people from places far away. To see new places, people, and things, all working together?
I think that's what I want, as the lead of the Eternity Project. And I'm certain Master Sara would agree with me.
I am Seiva Zeni, the project head of Entela's Eternity Project for Interplanar Development and Cooperation. I like that a lot. I'll see if Master Sara'll let me change the name.

Hannah sleeps, her best friend safe in her arms. She, however, is perhaps not so safe. The sky tears open directly above the roof over their heads...
She and Karina sit in the Head Engineer's office in Entela. Her office. She's supervising Core operations, but she doesn't need to be in the room constantly; she has students for that, and her transponder's on her wrist if they need anything. Being in a dream, she finds in not at all incongruent that she's ten years old, and thus rather younger than said her students. She can take a moment to relax with Karina, sitting and braiding her hair.
Only a moment, though, as her transponder flashes urgently; a message from Veria, her student in the control room. Internal energy at 8.6S and rising! Help! She gets to her feet, Karina following her, and begins sprinting though the maze of tunnels under Entela, tapping out instructions to Veria as they run. Shut off input valves. Increase conversion rate. There's something else she's supposed to do, she knows, but she can't remember what—
—all other thoughts drop from her mind when she reaches the control room. Standing before her is... Karina, but not the same Karina standing behind her. An older Karina. Stronger. More confident. More determined. And slumped against the console behind her, bleeding to death, is Veria.
"Sorry, Hannah, I hate to do this to you, but... she has to lose you. I have to lose you. I'll never learn to take care of myself if you're always there to take care of her."
Hannah's eyes flick over to the internal energy display. 8.7S. She has to get past this Karina, has to get to the controls, to save them both and Entela besides. She reaches for her dagger—but it's sitting on her desk. Her detonators—but if she sets one of those off in here, there's no chance enough equipment survives to regain control of the Core. There's nothing she can fight with but her hands and her will.
"There's nothing you can do, Hannah. You should've left her alone when she asked you to. I lost everyone who cared about me, but if you'd been a true friend and listened to her, she didn't have to lose you forever."
She only has one chance. 8.9S. She leaps at the older Karina, hands clutching around her throat. If she can take her by surprise, choke her out, then she'll still have just enough time to shut down the Core before it overloads. She squeezes tighter as the internal energy goes up, faster and faster.
There's a flash of light as the containment fails, and the last thing she sees is both the Karinas planeswalking away simultaneously. She has no such escape, except... to wake up.
Her eyes snap open. She's in Karina's room in the Seventh Circle Intiative, her hands squeezed around Karina's throat.Irilix, the Burden Archive Legendary Planeswalker — Demesne Flash If a player would draw a card, instead that player draws three cards and loses 3 life. cyberchronometer WindyDelcarlo Lady Mapi Aiden and I are in a field. He's trying to show me how to use the spear, but everything it touches keeps turning into muffins. Out in the distance, I see Hannah and wave to her.
I feel like she's trying to say something, but I can't hear her. I run closer and closer to her, until finally we're in each others arms. And then I hear her. Karina! My eyes shoot open. "Hhhhhh..." I grab at the pain in my throat, barely aware of anything but the hands. I manage to pull away, coughing as I try to catch my breath. I'm ready to fight back against whoever it was...and find Hannah staring in shock.
"Karina?" she says weakly before pulling me into a hug. I hug her back, not quite sure of what to say. "What... what happened?"
"I'm sorry--" she coughed. "I'm sorry..." No no no no no. I knew that feeling. I couldn't let her deal with it too. My neck still stung, but she needed me now.
"Shhh, don't worry about it. It's just a dream, it's over now." Or at least, I hoped it was. "I'm okay. We're okay." I scanned the room, trying to find the hat, find anything at all that might have caused it, but all I see is... Hanska's cat?Consoling Embrace Instant Up to two target creatures you control each get +0/+6 until end of turn. You gain 6 life. Protecting Hannah and/or Karina (or Mikhael iguess) from Throttle, and gaining enough life to offset two draws.

korakhos "If that demon shows its face here again, I do not intend to allow it to leave intact. Not after the last time I made that mistake." I take a breath between my sentences. "However, if it manages to escape me, I will let you know. Three canisters of aether were stolen from me while Hannah was exhausted, but since then we have not lost anything."You know, like Dread Return, but less dumb because it's from your hand for a mana and not from your graveyard for free XD This seems totally fine 9/10 Sustained Observation
Sorcery Draw a card, then discard a card. If you cast this spell from your graveyard, draw a card. Flashback Hindsight Instant Return target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard to your hand if it was put there from anywhere this turn. (Call aid for a Sinister Sabotage to point at the Dreaded Return) cajun also amechra and cyber but you two just got pinged "I-- I--." I try to produce words, but none of them work through my tears. "I promised... I'd protect you. Then..."Shhh, don't worry about it. It's just a dream, it's over now."Then I woke up... And I was killing you... I almost killed you, Karina!"
"I'm okay. We're okay."
"I..." I pause. She's alive. She's hurt, but you have something for that. Stop making her see you cry. "We...... We're okay. We're okay."
// Hannah reaches into her pocket and retrieves one of her golden glowing vials, placing it into Karina's hands. She is about to say something when she hears a voice.
"You girls might want to go sleep somewhere safer. Let's just say that you aren't the only ones with bad dreams around here." "When did you get here?" What was-- oh, Miss Hanska's friend. "... How did you know we were here? Don't you live really elsewhere?"Funnily, while this is being an underworld dreams for Hannah, you're probably still putting it into play in their end step so you get to draw extra cards with it. 9/10 Perceived Nightmare Instant Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. Whenever you lose life, if Perceived Nightmare is in your graveyard, you may pay and exile it. If you do, return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. (Also yes this is a temporary solution to the problem, that's intentional)

WindyDelcarlo — Perceived Nightmare: Ooh, I don't like how cheap the back half of this is. Good design, though. 9/10Lady Mapi — Dreamer Mikhael: That's beautiful. Reminds me of Lorescale Coatl but backwards. 5/5cajun — Consoling Embrace: This is a lot of anti-aggro in one card, but it's probably fine? 4/5

7.2 equilibrium. I don’t need to look at or measure that spell to recognize how that feels. I spent 7 years to find that spell, and I am certainly not forgetting it. This isn’t the question, but why. First, a small collection of aetherglass crates appears. Looks like… food? Milk, cheese, assorted breads, rice, shadow mint… The person to whom these belong appears moments later. Black jacket and pants, white shirt. Very professional looking.
Which means I can be rightly upset that he’s here. “Hey! Hi,” I say as politely as I can. “What’re you doing here? You’re not with the Eternity Project.”
”Setting up shop. Got myself a nice restaurant stand to set up, you know? Gotta bring the flavors of Volaria to the whole multiverse, right?”
”This place isn’t safe for us let alone you and your food. You can’t expect me to let you stay here.”
The new man slips a piece of paper out of his jacket pocket and hands it to me. ”Aeryl Kestei. Master Sara’s given me permission.”
I look at the piece of paper. Permission to operate a restaurant outside of Volaria under a 5% tax for aether tunneler use. “Yeah,” I decide. “Sure did. Alright, well, I’ve got more important things to do so you’re on your own aside from the tunnel, so… good luck?”
”Luck’s got nothing to do with it, kid.”
Aeryl Kestai has set up a small restaurant nearish to the tunneler. It has a few tables, a stand, and some cookware, along with many slightly blue-tinted glass crates with things in them.
(He'll respond if attacked but he's mostly just present)

cajun "I'm nocturnal, and I like to keep tabs on things. And before we continue, I'd like to point out that your friend there can't hear me - not sure why you can, but it's coming in useful right now, so..."
I stretched - there was still a horrible knot in my back from the last time I broke it (you should have seen the other guy).
"Anyway, there's some kind of hole in the sky over the base. You might want to tell someone about it - you're the only one here who I know can hear and understand me. And hey, I'll be here if you need me."...As far as Karina is concerned, Hanska's little cat is just generally... being a cat.Dreamhunter Cat - Creature - Cat When Dreamhunter Cat enters the battlefield, target opponent discards a card. If it was a creature card, put a +1/+1 counter on Dreamhunter Cat. "You call it a nightmare - I call it a quick meal." 1/2

"We...... We're okay. We're okay." It took me everything to not cry in her arms too. I had dared to be happy, and yet again, everyone got hurt. But I can't let her see me cry right now. Don't do that to her.
I took the glowing vial from her, not quite sure what to do with it, but knowing she was trying to help. "Maybe you should take the bed now. It's probably too late for you to get back home.""When did you get here? How did you know we were here?" I looked at her confused for a moment, then remembered the cat. Hanska said he talked sometimes?
"Uh, what is... what is he saying?" I asked slightly skeptically.Moment of Uncertainty Instant Choose one or two - • Return target creature to its owner's hand. • Exile target creature, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control. • Exile target creature. Return that card to the battlefield under its owner’s control at the beginning of the next end step.

Karina looks at the vial wierdly."Drink that, it'll help heal you from... that. It doesn't taste good, though."
"Maybe you should take the bed now. It's probably too late for you to get back home."I want to keep holding her, keep protecting her, but... I just almost killed her while holding her. Staying away tonight makes sense...
//Hannah lightly retracts her arms from Karina and stares into the floor for a moment, but doesn't make more comments on the topic. In her next second, she has looked up at the cat.
"When did you get here? How did you know we were here?"
"Uh, what is... what is he saying?"
"Mikhael says that we should sleep somewhere safer.
// Hannah stares at the cat again, listening to its silent communication.
"He says you can't hear him? I guess that makes sense."
// Hannah's eyes widen after another polite-listening session.
"It's like that thing I saw last night after my other nightmare! Mikhael says there's a hole in the sky!" I pause and I can feel my breath stop as I make a connection between the two nights."... Am... Am I causing these things...? With my nightmares?Lady MapiCat seems a bit underpowered? It's most of the time just going to be a 1/2, since discarding not-creatures is usually the default, which leads me to believe it could probably just sit at WB? 7.5/10 Thorough Search Sorcery Draw a card. Whenever an opponent discards a card, if Thorough Search is in your graveyard, you may pay . If you do, return Thorough Search to your hand. cajunThis seems perfectly serviceable. Is probably fading two blockers away, or saving two blockers on your end, but it's very versatile. 8/10 Moment of Clarity Instant Change a target of target spell that targets a permanent you control to another permanent you control. Draw a card.

Sustained Observation: I like the card but I fail to see how it interacts at all with my attack, my guess is you're discarding something to reanimate, but in that case why are you countering the spell later? 5/10. Hindsight: This one is easier to grasp, I'm guessing you're using it to recover Dreaded Return, I like this as a cheaper but more restrictive Call to Mind. 9/10. Basically, the Sinister Sabotage is what threw me off, had you not done that call to aid I would've rated Sustained Observation higher. "Just make sure nothing you have is contaminated, we don't know his capabilities. We thought he'd been defeated before and I almost payed a high price for it. Let's make sure we don't give him a third chance!"Compromised Machinery Instant Destroy target artifact. Its controller discards a card. "Your creation may have been corrupted. There's nothing we can do but to tear it down."
