test The man gets to live, albeit with an unsightly mark on his throat and the day’s troubles seared into his memory. She leaves him to his tavern and his customers, taking her leave and ignoring the looks of anyone else in the establishment. Her ire was at this unnamed apothecary, not, anyone else foolish to get in her way. Kadri does choose to go straight to the apothecary, as it were. There was little else in this settlement metaphorical worth checking underneath, and given a potential target for her wrath, it was the only logical that she make her way there first and foremost. She finds her way to the shop, although not without the occasional glance over her shoulder, and a hand to her side to remind any onlookers that, yes, she was armed, and yes, she could use the sword at her hilt with ease. Either unimpressed, or uninterested, in the rest of the contents of the apothecary’s business, Kadri directs her attention to the missive on the counter, and sees what she can gleam from it. Raid the Sepulcher Instant Exile each creature in target player’s graveyard. For each creature exiled this way, create a tapped 2/2 black Zombie creature token. Hasty Extraction: Extirpate, without Split Second, which makes this a tad weaker (and able to be responded to, which is fair.) I do like the requirement of having already seen the card, but modern mill decks could (potentially) turn this into a way to snipe specific threats very efficiently, given the right set up. 6/10, not because it's bad, it's just not exactly 'novel' given the existing card, and other similar effects.

The envelope is written as addressed to "For MLW". There's some resistance as Kadri opens the imperfect seal of the missive's envelope, before it gives way to a puff of dust and its true message. Much like the bar Kadri was just in, the missive seems to have been slightly dirtied with a substance unknown.
To the buffoon Kadri Blueswale, aspiring captain of a wreck,
You will soon meet the same fate as your ship; may your body rot just as the weapons and lives you have stolen. This Arena is my domain, both the life that flows through its coasts and rivers, and the lands where you are too cowardly to tread. In what little time you have remaining, I defy you to take even this port, for someone as vile as you has no peace to make.
Even now I am watching over you,
MLW
In another shop, Lettie is wrapping all of her visible features in bandages, as a precaution against her own treachery. She considers if she'll need to intervene, and if intervention would be best done with a scythe. Without alchemy, Kadri could have anywhere from a week to a month remaining. With alchemy, much less than that. Even now, Kadri will feel lesions splitting her hands and forearms, and if she looks, she will see that they are entirely black. After some moments pass, they will begin bleeding blood darkened like ink, which does not clot.
//Kadri has exposed herself to one of Lettie's cruelest weapons, which will first make itself known on her skin, and in coming days, in her lungs.
Sorcery All creatures get -2/-2 until end of turn. Whenever a creature dies this turn, each opponent loses 1 life. The ideal host for the spores is a corpse, and many sprout where they are found.
In a way, you could say that the previous combo worked out for the best.
Raid the Sepulcher — You need to hit at minimum two for this to be worth, which seems fair considering the scaling on cards like Wight of Precinct Six. I'm not certain it's mythic material, but other than that, it seems like a nasty hate piece, with the added option of being able to use it on yourself. 9/10

test There was a logical course of action that could be taken here. Admit that she’d been outplayed, run for the metaphorical hills, and see what could be done the plague that she had, almost happily, just exposed herself to. Judging by the literal black spots now forming on her skin and subsequent inkwell bleeding, this ‘apothecarist’ was more them capable of finding other ways to deal with her, should she be antagonized further. On the other hand… Crumpling the missive in her hand, she angrily slammed it against the counter-top, ignoring whatever pain might be seeping into her skin and trudged out the door, looking back at the rest of the settlement. No one rushing to stop her, no one apparently on watch in case she left the building. Whatever means the apothecary was watching her by, it didn’t require live sentries. Which was fine by her. Mustering herself, Kadri runs, not anywhere in particular, just away from the apothecary’s business and towards the sea. She ignores the looks of anyone passing by, the matter of the curse that she’d had now taken upon herself more than enough to require her full attention and ire. Near the shoreline, she rushes onto a disused pier, runs to the end, then dives off, splashing into the water, leaving naught but a faint trail of her black ichor against the water. Rolling Tide Instant For each creature you control, choose one — • Exile that creature, then return it to the battlefield under your control. • Return that creature to its owner’s hand. {Still an attack, or at least a response, because Kadri isn't done yet.} Eternity Outbreak: 10/10. I like Massacure Wurm effects, and this is a neat use of that. I don't really have much else to say on it.

Eternity Outbreak: 10/10. I like Massacure Wurm effects, and this is a neat use of that. I don't really have much else to say on it. In another shop, Lettie bursts out laughing when the salamander on the counter registers the shock, and she sees Kadri's furious sprint to what she assumed would be the coast. She had worried that Kadri wouldn't be bright enough to follow the path that had been drawn for her. But now, before the day would be out, at least one evil would be vanquished. She redoubles her preparations, and thinks back to how she reached this moment...She had expected this of course; she had already calculated her ledgers with the assumption that many of these mercenary commissions would not be paid in full. The damage to the port would affect her indirectly still, but there were still many ways this could be turned to an advantage, if an expensive one. Lettie briefly planeswalks into the settlement to warn her informants. "The rest of our work will be easier the more of this you see for yourself, but make no mistake; you will have to flee this place before the day has ended." There is no direct intervention in the conflict for now; it may be a regular raid, if with a somewhat higher density of martial combatants than usual, and fearful gazes which keep a cautious distance. And so the citizens, in what time Lettie's hired corpses could buy, escaped further inland, accompanied by some of her spies. The fear that they had all felt witnessing Kadri, however, was equally genuine. So at the first sight of Zero, they approached her, guided by those who miraculously already knew of her, pleading for the angel to save their coasts from a ghastly ship not of this world, that wielded fell magic to raise the dead. She had vowed to protect them all, hadn't she...?Zero answers the random citizens. She is here seeking Spark Labs, of which the Arena is her last lead. She will defend the citizens from whatever threat presents itself, though she is doubting her creatures of Elsewhere will be among them.
Lettie's spies named a particular settlement where they feared Kadri would strike next; one where Lettie held a shop, of course. She had instructed them to name that particular settlement, the closest applicable one to where Kadri had struck before. So it was set, not quite in stone, but on parchment that Lettie had already planted...At some points, the marines may kick down a door, only to be met with an explosion of acid fumes, or turn a corner only to be plunged into darkness by miasma black as starless night, for unseen maws to sink their fangs into rotten flesh. This interference is sporadic, unpredictable, and not nearly sufficient to turn the tide of the battle. Meanwhile, unhindered by the grasp of miasma or the marines, Wormwood seeks out the corpses of her mercenaries, soon to be the pawns of the captain, and treats them in preparation for their new lives. Some receive spare buttons, hidden in their pockets. Others have their prized weapons exchanged for ones of poorer quality, either rusting or infected with defects more insidious. Some corpses are bestowed the most enticing gift of all: unsealed missives, kept next to their stopped hearts.
When the treatment is finished, Wormwood ensures that her spies have escaped, before abandoning her hired fools to their fate. The weapons and buttons had done their work, infecting Kadri's arsenal, but the missives too, contained a "secret" message about troop movements that would allegedly leave this exact settlement vulnerable—and another secret message in the eternity spores that they also carried. Kadri had missed them before, but now, thanks to Kadri's brazen approach, Lettie could exchange her own informant's panicked message of an impending attack with one she had quickly written and trapped with more spores, and now the plan had been salvaged. If Zero were on watch, the sudden appearance of the ship from anywhere closer than the horizon would be the first shot in their next exchange. So as Kadri runs, Lettie walks from shop to shop, gathering corrosives for Zero, regeneration potions and everwake for herself, a spare vial of eternity spores if she needs it for Kadri, and some pale morningstar powder, if she is so lucky, for the Crownwell itself. She lets out a few more nervous yet giddy laughs to herself, and considers that this might be a long night, so she takes on the extra weight of an entire pouch of casting components slung over her shoulder, one of her iron sickles at her side, and a scythe in her hands. She checks herself in the mirror, to ensure that she is unrecognizable, and finds looking back at her a bandaged figure in a walking dress, shrouded in a black shawl worn like a cloak; a grim reaper who has only just left a masquerade ball on account of work found on short notice.
I am Wormwood, the fallen bitter star, divorce'd of my innocence descending, upon the lakes and springs of younger worlds,
only to poison them all with the truth. Never can one so awaken'd find peace.
In truth, Lettie can scarcely stop shaking, from both dread and excitement. She was not prepared for the possible outcomes of this battle, but she had learned well enough after Troischa and Dieule that there could be no better life for her... or Zero. Not delaying any longer, she planeswalks to the bar, where the poor bartender is still rubbing his neck, and mobilizes what improvised defenses and evacuations she can.
Lettie has spent a total of 400 valor to increase her mana value limit by 1 (to 9), and unlock both Tactical Imperator and Hire (You may reveal a Privateer card you own from outside the game and put it into your hand, or create a 1/1 black Soldier creature token.)
//Using Tactical Imperator:
Sorcery Target player chooses up to one card in their hand and discards the rest. Then, if that player has no cards in hand, they hire.
You hire and lose 2 life. (You may reveal a Privateer card you own from outside the game and put it into your hand, or create a 1/1 black Soldier creature token.) Creature — Human Privateer Haste
4/2
//Should Zero choose to accept her mission, she will be able to assist defense once Kadri provides a target. Let's hope that she can.
Rolling Tide — This is just cutting your life losses; you have tokens, after all, so they're not coming back. Besides that, the modality seems a bit odd, given the specific utility of bouncing to your own hand instead of flickering. With that in mind though, I otherwise like the design; it seems reasonably developed compared to Ghostly Flicker and Evacuate. 7/10

test “…You’ve done it again, haven’t?”Kadri opened her eyes, staring in the dimly lit depths that surrounded her. This was far from open ocean, where the water would slowly taper into an unceasing, inky black, but here the coast was still visible, the sand slowly snaking back up to meet the tides, where fresh air, human life, and other such things had been chosen to live long ago. She squinted, at the thin barrier, marked by the faint sunlight above, slowly sinking further down towards the seabed, and letting the distance between her and the surface likewise lengthen. It was the place for humans, who she held a tangential connection to, but not for her. “You say that like it’s a bad thing for you,” Kadri thought to herself, knowing it would be heard by the other voice down here with her. It was easier to hear it, when the water against her ears, whispering the gentle secrets of salt and shoal, and not barricaded by the air of landwalkers. “I’ve given to you before, and you’ve done your part, how is this different?” “You serve me well, but you have done little to impress me on this world in particular,” the voice taunted. Kadri’s eyes flicked to somewhere in the water, swearing she saw something besides sealife and seawater. No. Not here. She wasn’t that strong. Not yet at least. “But if you’re going to ask me to deal with your current predicament, I need enticement.” “You’ll be stuck here if you let me die,” Kadri countered, instinctively gripping her sword, and on finding it, secured it back into its harness. No sense losing a sword when she had so few dependable ones already. “And patience was rarely your strong suit.”“It depends on the tides, as many things do. You always gave me a reason to be more persistent. You take well to your role, I would see that you use it to its greatest potential.”“Then you will deal with…this?” She knew what the answer was as her squid-ink blood seeped into her sleeves and into the surrounding water, and what caveats that answer would come with. “You still have your ship to give. That should be enough, for this time. It will be the last thing you own that I have not taken, and you know what comes next should you fail once more.” Kadri wanted to swallow, but preferred holding her mouth shut to the taste of bilge-water, even if it wouldn’t choke her out. She could weasel out of this, offer something less substantial, if only to survive, hide, and lick her wounds for good. But they knew what Kadri wanted, knew what she needed, if she wasn’t going to the be the buffoon, the aspiring wreck, and the laughing stock of someone unknown opponent. No, on the altar of her pride, some things were worth giving up. “Deal," she said, and Kadri felt the currents beneath begin to surge upward.
- The water was breached by a vessel in the shape of the Crownwell, but its resemblance to the vessel was all there was to compare it by. Black flags, once beautiful and terrifying, had been torn away from their masts, and the great hull of the vessel was not besmirched by barnacles, sea life, and other signs it had been on the seafloor for quite some time. It was a wonder the ship could even float, had it not been for the terrifying display of it arising from the water, made more so horrible by the sight of not only a full crew of damned men and women on the deck, even some spilling over and clinging to its sides, but the surge of more following in its wake. Few were armed among them, most wielding nothing but their bare hands or scavenged gear, but the sheer mass of them all made their numbers equal in size to a small mercenary company, and far more than the port could field from any militia among them.
At the prow of the ship, soaked, furious, and staring out as her vessel sluiced through the water directly into the port, was Captain Kadri herself. Her sword was still in her hand, but her shirt had broken through at the sleeves, right along where her inkwell lesions should have been spitting out her insides, and instead replaced by black scars and an unceasing outpour of vapour. Much of her body, having been exposed to the apothecary’s weapon, fell in turn, but the mist seemed to wrap itself around Kadri, snaking at her boosts and billowing behind her, as if preparing to surge out alongside her into battle.
It was clear she was not taking this lightly. “To the damned men and women of this accursed port! Your apothecary, who elected to only poison me, and curse my vessel and my crew, has given me leave to sack this pathetic excuse for a village. Had they made their ire for my actions known, and sought open warfare against me, I would be content to duel with them until either of us was dead and dying. But they, in their apparent genius, chose instead to sabotage me and my crew, and seek the cowards way of ending our hostilities. So it is then I have chosen to take their invitation, and reduce this place to the rubble it belongs to.” A macabre cheer roared out from among her horde of zombie marines, those with weapons shaking them in the air, the rest merely shaking their fists in protest of their enemy. “So run! Die! Whichever is faster!” Sink or Swim Sorcery Each player mills ten cards. For each creature card put into a graveyard this way, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. Targeted Hack Sorcery Choose a creature type. Target creature gets -3/-3 if it's the chosen type. Authorities grew suspicious when the wave of hacked runes seemed to never touch a nezumi. assisting lettie's defense, as tricked into
Lettie is in the middle of aiding the mobilization when the pirate dares blame the circumstances on her. To an extent, she had planned for it, but the ship and crew are clearly cursed enough without any intervention, so Lettie can only groan through her bandages. Zero almost certainly heard that. Any trace of plausible deniability I had is as good as gone. Zero's a machine, so she's unlikely to shirk her duty to citizens, but I need to either end our feud now or as soon as Kadri is repelled. It's a good thing I took all I could carry.
It is too soon to engage, especially not when Zero is providing much needed support, so instead Lettie starts measuring out regeneration potions and handing them out to trusted militia members, directing them to the other choke points. Some of the other militia members need little direction to mobilize; they had been in that bar, and already have an impression of who is the aggressor in this case.
Once she has no other preparations to make, Lettie transmutes the staff of her scythe so that the blade angles as though it were a halberd, and takes up a spear position at a choke point, as though she were just another mediocre masked mercenary herself, just as Hilda had taught her. It was at least one thing that fool hadn't stolen from Lettie. Where she can, she tries to see if she can identify the magic animating Kadri's crew.Artful Neonate Creature — Vampire Rogue Flash
Whenever Artful Neonate or another creature dies, target player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
1/1 Among the other orphans of the capital's streets, the deathly pale skin, crooked teeth, and misshapen limbs don't particularly stand out.
Let's get some Aristocrats going. Sink or Swim — Let's (foolishly) assume that the value of mill is entirely neutral. In such a case, we would be happy if we got even three tokens with this card, comparing to something like Bestial Menace. In order to get an expected value of three hits out of twenty cards (assuming two players), the average creature density between the two for an expected value of three hits is 15%. In a 60 card deck, that's 9 creatures. Some constructed decks behave almost exactly like this, but those are exceptions, not rules (RUG tempo, for example, is creature light and would have problems with this, and that deck runs 11 creatures). Set mathematics usually suggest that a deck should be around 30% creatures, or slightly higher. Basically what I'm saying is that this card has disgusting value. Absolutely gross. It's a cool card, especially now that the fight has properly started, but real gross. 7/10

test cajun The timely arrival of more combatants, somewhat trained, given how they were preparing to surround her encroaching horde, was enough for Kadri to conclude her opponent was here. Watching, waiting, and preparing for another attempt to end things here and now. Before, she would have grit her teeth at things being made more complicated, but now that both sides were willing to throw what they had at each other, she smirked. It was only a challenge if she had to restrain herself, and that had already been thrown into the wind. There were no valuables here, no places of significance to try and capture. No heads in particular to cut from the neck except for her prime adversary, who was hidden among the ragged opposition against her, so an open assassination was out of the question. This was to be a simple, brutal melee, both sides throwing themselves at each other until one of them routed, or died trying. A taunt rose from among the opposing masses, and Kadri turned her attention to it, and frowned. Some type of…metal warrior, though not in the best condition, if she had to guess. All the more stranger, and all the more reason to begin in earnest. With a flourish of her sword, she pointed forward, and forward her horde charged, spilling out onto the shore and through the docks. At the head of some were a few particularly skilled corpses, privateers who in life had been a cut above the rest, and in death, just a tad below their former skills. The rest were a mob, fighting with her remaining stock of weapons, salvaged equipment, or bare mouth and claw, with the intent to maul and butcher the opposition. At their heels was more of the mist that surrounded Kadri, turning the usually silent and compliant crew members into ravenous combatants, and staunching any outstanding injuries they might sustain. Kadri stepped down from the prow, returning to the deck of her ship, and taking command of the skeleton crew left aboard. “Fire cannons behind their lines! Scatter those dogs with artillery! Now!”Tribal Miasma Instant Choose a creature type, then choose one — • Creatures you control of the chosen type get +3/+3 until end of turn. • Creatures your opponents control of the chosen type get -3/-3 until end of turn. “Corpses. I like seeing overload in other color. 9/10, I think this is a legit design, though some people might be used to a "each you don't control" clause to prevent this from nuking your own creatures. Artful Neonate: 8/10 Aristocrats with flash are a neat design space, but I think this can just say "each opponent loses 1 life" as the triggers this creates will tend to pile, and deliberating each target is a small use case that "each opponent" more succinctly covers.

test cajun The timely arrival of more combatants, somewhat trained, given how they were preparing to surround her encroaching horde, was enough for Kadri to conclude her opponent was here. Lettie mentally notes that Zero seems to be functioning unusually smoothly at the moment. With her help, it seems to battle will not be decided by ground forces, though the same would be true nonetheless, recalling what had happened at the last coastal battle. It would only be a matter of time before Kadri's weapons and magic would rip through formations. The true purpose of this militia then is obfuscation. Lettie will use her concealed position as best she can, for as long as she can, and given the sheer density of the zombie mob, her first move seems obvious. In a spear formation, Lettie can afford to keep an eye watching Kadri, and sees her step away to the deck—in other words, turn her back to Lettie. The battle properly beginning, Lettie must yell to be heard by even the soldiers in her formation. "Moving out of position. Keep spears level!" She backs out of the formation, and, after checking that the direction of the wind won't blow her attack right back at her own side, aims a vial of pale morningstar powder at the densest pack of zombies she can reach, and throws. On whichever surface or zombie it lands, it shatters into its aqueous solution, which quickly evaporates, giving way to a horrific pyrophoric reaction that scorches the victim, snaps and boils, spreading itself onto nearby surfaces where it adheres, and spews a prodigious volume of toxic smoke which is itself at burning temperatures. Whether or not they can feel pain, the zombies caught by it will inevitably be all but ash as their flesh becomes fuel for the fire, and before long an entire section of the Crownwell's view of the town will be blocked by smoke; the exact section where Lettie will continue to fight.
There is little Lettie can do about the cannons from her position, but given how pervasively Kadri's equipment had been infected, it's possible that a few cannons might have hidden faults. Most of them will likely fire without issue, but even a single misfire would damage the Crownwell and give Kadri pause before firing again.//Using Tactical Imperator Fall from Grace Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature. Destroy all creatures with mana value less than or equal to that creature's mana value. Those ingrates who will not live by their better's honor shall die by their neglect.Wolfish Outlaw Creature — Human Rogue When Wolfish Outlaw dies, create a 3/2 green Wolf creature token. The worth of a man's life is what a judge decrees it to be.//Neonate is still alive, so our death payoff has stuck. Next is the fodder, alongside some interaction to get the zombie tokens to make sure we don't die in the meanwhile (and to trigger our payoff a bit more). Zero has handled the only nontoken zombie that isn't hit by Ruination. Tribal Miasma — The buff mode's fine, but the one-sided wipe at instant is a bit more questionable (and also a bit cannibalistic with respect to strategies in a limited environment). Otherwise, this is turning into a pretty salient strategy. 8/10

Even if she prepared to retaliate, the lieutenant would just as quickly fall back within their ranks, and Zero would, confusingly, forget what it was they were doing, the mark across their metallic exterior carrying a small mark from the zombie’s strike…
On the other side of the battle, the apothecary’s concoction strikes true, and one and several more zombies begin to succumb to its effects. As the weapon appears as if its about to reach a critical mass within the ranks, the mist at the zombie’s heels rises up around them, and just as quickly the undead are evaporated into the cloud, along with whatever concoction was on them, leaving their ranks somewhat depleted, but otherwise preventing a rout.

Lettie snarls beneath her bandages as the bonfire crackles to life only to be cut short by an irritating, if Pyrrhic maneuver. Bitter Stars. Battlefield material components are central to my strategy. If they can simply vanish on a whim, I'll exhaust my resources restarting each process, even one as simple as combustion. I was never the best at more conventional summoning, though there is the alternative... Already, Lettie can feel her heartbeat stronger than ever, the creaking of nearby buildings in tune with it, all in time with the blood rushing through the militia, and the life waiting to feast on the rotting mob. The sheer force of life had always unnerved her somewhat, but now she panics trying to suppress it. She'd seen how Zero had reacted to the miasma on the summoned roots. If it were summoned now, Zero might interpret it as a threat, and all but turn against the militia.
It is then that Zero screams, abandons all previous strategy, and makes a mad dash for Kadri. Lettie, finding it difficult to keep her mind from turning to more "efficient" solutions, finally pulls the miasma from the blind eternities, making sure to disguise its origin from Zero by blending it with the vapors that trailed along with the mob, but raising them tall enough to obscure herself from the Crownwell's and Zero's views. With hope, Zero would interpret it as part of the mob, and ignore it still. Where and when the miasma is fully formed, it seizes upon a zombie, seeking to strip it of its flesh before the vapor can snatch it away, summoning whatever pests and unseen maws are necessary to do it, and using the materials to summon yet more, whatever Lettie could assemble. But in truth, this gambit itself doesn't even have to work. All that matters now is to slow the mob long enough for Zero to have no regrets about moving the locus of battle from the port to the deck. It feels odd to Lettie, to place such hope in a machine that she knows to be broken, but life has such a cruel sense of irony at times. Try and do at least one thing you were designed for, Proto. Just this once.
//Tactical Imperator, again
Zero Sum Sorcery For each creature, its controller sacrifices it unless they pay life equal to its toughness. Supplicant of Rot Creature — Faerie Druid When ~ dies, you may exile it. If you do, return a creature or land card from your graveyard to your hand. 2/1 //Best Zero could pull was a soft counter, so if Kadri pays, I guess we'll wait for the stack to clear before trying again. Keep your lord, I dare you. Spellcraft Myopia — I seriously dislike spell interaction which does not counter or even target. An instant that hits the hand is also inadvisable. Finally, recalling the development of Dispossess and Infinite Obliteration (or even the base mode for Sadistic Sacrament), which could not affect cards on field or stack, this card seems to have likely development issues as well. Otherwise, it seems to be a sound response. 6/10

test cajun Kadri’s felt like she was slowly burning, the chaos of the fighting managing to excite her even from above on her vessel. That metallic fighter was growing more troublesome by the moment, and the apothecary was almost certainly among the fighting masses, but where? Balancing on top of this was her slowly diminishing horde, not down yet, for lack of trying, and grinding against the assembled militia, but the tide would need to turn swiftly to guarantee a victory, and Kadri was all the more eager to finish what she had started. She felt her attention shift, no, it was directed, towards another part of her horde, as one of her minions was torn apart by what appeared to be a cloud of gas, before it quickly moved to the next. Tearing her view away, Kadri looked back to the metallic fighter, who was charging along the shore towards the vessel. She didn’t doubt that they’d be able to board the vessel with ease, and a duel on board would only distract her from the fight below. She needed to… The realization came to her, and Kadri looked back to where her minions were being torn apart. The gas. That’s where she would be. Somewhere behind that cloud. But with that force in front of it, and a metal soldier charging from her flank, she’d need something to distract them both from her next move. It wasn’t her ship anymore. She might as well give it one last sendoff. “Ramming speed!” She yelled into the air. Surprisingly, none of her Zombies on deck moved to aid her, instead grabbing their weapons and forming around Kadri at the front of the ship. If they weren’t the ones moving the ship, then what was… Mist began to pour from the sides of the ship, wood creaking and splintering as the vessel seemed to stretch against the confines of something within. With one last croak, and with a surprisingly terrifying force, the ship surged forward, Kadri and the last of her crew behind the prow as she cast forth a twin-headed projectile, one snaking back towards Zero, and would repulse her backwards should it strike her, preventing her relatively easy boarding of the Crownwell. The other was shot forward directly into the mist, and would attempt to nullify the miasma’s mists to consume the damned crew by choking it on immaterial substance, until it had no strength and died. A poor defense, but a distraction nonetheless. And it would have to work, as Kadri’s vessel was prepared to run aground exactly into the melee behind the obscuring vapors. Some of her crew would attempt to move out of the way, but most simply charged forward, pinning anyone within the mob in place as their captain’s ship barreled forward to crush them. Dispersive Rebuttal Instant For each opponent, counter up to one target spell that player controls. “I’ve seen better performances from sailors with all of their limbs attached!”> Targeting Cut to the Heart and Zero Sum. Conjure: Ensoul Artifact -> Targetting the Crownwell, which is now attacking Lettie. Cut to the Heart: Dash Hopes comes to mind, although this is definitely more difficult to enable the exorbitant cost of 10 life. Presuming this slots into only a UB deck, that's 4 life and an overall easier spell to cast, so I think this is...fine? It's a design I'd hate to see because it might grind the game to halt every time it's played. 6/10.- Zero Sum: Killing Wave as a reference, this is definitely an aggressive tax that trades the equality of that card for the per-case decisions of toughness. This definitely punishes really large creatures, and I'm unsure I like the cost of this. Consume the Meek for example hits Mana Value, and is costed somewhat highly since it guarantees a certain set of cards will be destroyed. In summary, this should cost a bit more, and probably needs a double black investment. 5/10Supplicant of Rot: This should likely be uncommon, return effects on commons are rare, and even in monocolor they're somewhat specific, such as Woodland Sleuth having a caveat, or Desecrator Hag to the same effect. Even if it only happens once, this feels a bit too good to have running around at common, otherwise the effect is neat. 6/10

As the battle wages on, as zombies and soldiers clashed and the mechanical angel rushed towards the dread pirate captain, a young woman, her eyes as black as night and as shiny as the surface of the sea, dashed out from a back alley, spear in hand. Anne rushed towards the battlefield, the smell of burnt flesh and miasma filling her sinuses. Smell was an odd sensation for her, odd enough to momentarily distract her from the zombie lurching up behind her. But then the ant-girl snapped to her senses and, sensing the thoughts of someone familiar, put away her weapon as her hands became plated in a red carapace. When the zombie went for her, Anne ducked and clocked it in the stomach with a mean right hook. Then Anne steadied herself for a moment before her hand split and cracked apart into dozens of branching claws before she slashed at the zombie's decayed chest.

Chitinclaw Monk Creature - Elf Monk Double strike, vigilance 1/2 Engulfed by the miasma, Lettie can see nothing, but feels the shifting life that surrounds her, unifying to the beat of a single heart. Then a beat is skipped. No, I learned from that trick. This is a material that is under my control, and I will be reclaiming it however I please. Now then, for what I can do with necrotic flesh, ash, brine, and this eternal rot... Lettie consumes the miasma before it completely starves, and summons a hulking fae that seems to be a cross between a mer covered in sharpened scales, and a wolf with jagged teeth and bloodstained fur, its head save for its snout concealed by a veil of black hair that is interwoven with plants and blades. An older beast, from the epoch when the bitterness of The Fallen One was still emerging from the sea.
The miasma clears; Lettie sees the ship bearing down on her, and its captain sees the bandaged soldier from before, their strange weapon reformed into a scythe, surrounded by strewn half eaten zombies. Without a second thought, Lettie directs her summon to charge directly in opposition to the former Crownwell's momentum. One of this creature's spawn had been able to stand firm against Troischa, and the mother's near-invincibility and strength would be enough to knock the whole of the crew off their feet, and spare the buildings behind Lettie. How reckless; to toss away something so fundamental, for even a slim chance of victory, is the mindset of one who struggles to even win a battle, rather than win a war.//A dress hidden under a shawl aside, Lettie isn't visually recognizable at the moment, though other senses may be used to infer that it is her. //Zero is dealing with the counter, leaving Crownwell. The ensouled Crownwell is only a 5/5, not a 6/6, and has no other abilities relevant to combat.
//The Tactical Imperator continues.
Sovereign's Matron Creature — Faerie Noble Flash Sacrifice a creature: Sovereign's Matron gains indestructible until end of turn. Put a +1/+1 counter on it. 4/1 Bottom of the Glass Instant Target creature gains persist until end of turn. (When it dies, if it had no -1/-1 counters on it, return it to the battlefield under its owner’s control with a -1/-1 counter on it.)Create a Vial token. (It's an artifact with ", Sacrifice this and another permanent: Draw a card. Activate this ability only during your turn.")//It's not clear if the Crownwell was already on the board or not, so in case it wasn't and is entering just now, Bottom of the Glass will help us double dip on our death triggers, or provide a cheap Vial to sacrifice. Sovereign's Matron will be the blocker and win condition, since everything else seems to have (tenuously) stuck. Dispersive Rebuttal — I had mentioned it before, but this isn't too effective in this situation as Zero and Lettie's spells are on the stack at different times (though it would still have other targets while Zero's spell is, so it's not entirely lost). With that out of the way, while this doesn't necessarily creep Double Negative, being that it's much easier to bait your opponent into giving you two targets (by flashing a threat that doesn't necessarily interact with their first card in order to get them to counter it) than it is to bait two opponents to be on the stack on the same time where they aren't already fighting each other, that does mean that what's mechanically distinct about it won't come into play most of the time. I think that realistically, this would usually be played as a counterspell, without waiting for better opportunities. 7/10

The site of a, frankly speaking, titantic monster bearing down on her charging vessel is enough to briefly pause the captain’s heart of fire. A brief dumbfounded look at the hulking creature in front of her path, before she quickly resolves herself. The ship was inconsequential in the scheme of things. What mattered was what it was used to do, to sail, to slip, to conquer, and raid, were all but things it permitted her to do, but never had the ship made the captain. It was a tool, and sometimes, it was proper to give them a sendoff when their use had come to a halt.
Not that it was her ship anymore, but given the circumstances, what she was about to wouldn’t be seen as a breach of their agreement.
Kadri pointed her sword forward towards the beast, steadying her footing and briefly shutting her eyes. She’d never get through it with brute force, and her ship would almost certainly not survive the impact. But damn the ship. Damn the crew. And damn that apothecary! Damn it all! She was not going to let that apothecary have their victory, even if it meant losing everything, and especially if she had nothing to lose beyond that. “How reckless,” said the voice in her head, judgmental as always, ‘but if your answer is to do that, than I suppose I can provide.” Kadri sneered at no one in particular, before resolving herself again. “You had better, for all the trouble you’ve been.” Her eyes open once more, Kadri flourished her blade, a dark streak erupting from its point before Kadri forcefully pointed at the floorboards. The dark source leaped from her blade, burrowing itself into her vessel and quickly began spreading between the joints and lines of the ship. A low hum began to fill the background, as something not even Kadri could guess, filled the vessel, the formerly blue emanations now turning a distinct angry purple as the vessel groaned in agony. For all its worth, it continued, straight ahead, into the maw of that abomination, and hopefully took that soldier with it.
Without another word, Kadri dived off her vessel, splashing into the water as the vessel struck the abomination, the wood barely having a chance to shatter against it before the vessel, quite suddenly, exploded, a large cloud of purple energy shooting out in all directions, wrapping around anything and anyone in the vicinity. Mercenaries would fall silently, her crew would wither and collapse at its touch. Life ceased in its vicinity, even unnatural life, as the bulk of the force wrapped around the abomination that had been prepared to intercept the Crownwell, forcing it to choke on swathes of necrotic power, and if even possible, wither and die. The blast would send Zero hurling back towards the shore, her plan to scale the Crownwell made impossible by the fact that, there was no Crownwell. Like everything else, it ceased to be.
It would take a minute for the cloud to clear, soon after which, Kadri would emerge from the water, angry, soaked once more, and barely holding her sword at her side. She looked for anything, anyone that dared take her on still. Sudden Refraction Instant Choose one — • Copy two target instant or sorcery spells. Fine, given we have things that care about specific targets for like, 1 mana. - Chitinclaw Monk: 4/10. Needs to be rare, see Swiftblade Vindicator. I think if you need this to be uncommon, first strike would work instead, but it would be annoying. - Sovereign's Matron: 10/10. Pog. I like that this is fragile unless you use its ability, unlike some cards Immersturm Predator that just don't die and not even think about it. Bottom of the Glass: 9/10. Really nice mix of Lettie's mechanics. Cauldron Haze is the canon equivalent, but we have stuff like Feign Death for a while now, so it's right on the price.

Lettie had faced an explosion in the making before, and hearing the intensity of the ship's groans now, she can feel her mind turning to her shops, preparing to planeswalk to safety. But at the ship's side, she can see Zero about to scale it. She remains, just to see what becomes of Zero—and the ship explodes, unleashing its wave of energy, flinging away Zero. A part of Lettie is screaming at her to flee, that for all her fear of her own resilience, this is the sort of embodied death that can fell even titans. She's right there. If I can just survive this, I can execute her right where she lands. But no matter how Lettie tries, what binds her to life has already begun to drag her into the blind eternities, to safety, up the hill, in the shop where Kadri had been earlier. All that remains in her place are the living fumes which are swept away in an instant by the wave.
Out the window of her shop, Lettie sees the flash fade away. She feels as though she's choking, and tears the bandages from her face before her tears can soak through them. She knew there was a cost to war, that no matter what efforts it would take to kill the necromancer, fighting such a horde would take lives—just not so many, not so quickly. Before, she could have stopped Kadri before she ever reached the shore again, and this would have never happened had she done so. I could have defeated Kadri any other way; all of this was so that Zero could meet her match. If I don't return to the battlefield and destroy Zero, all of this will have been for nothing.
Lettie returns to a silent battlefield, to where she estimates Zero might have landed, and finds herself several paces off the mark. Perhaps a handful of soldiers had been able to hide in nearby buildings, but for any who had, they have not yet revealed themselves. With Kadri still emerging from the water, and Zero still on the ground, Lettie shifts her scythe to one hand, and pulls a vial from her belt as she advances upon Zero, to a range where she won't miss as she did before.
//Between the fumes that appear whenever she planeswalks, and the fact that her face is no longer obscured, Lettie is now very recognizable.Meaning from Tragedy Instant This spell costs less to cast for each creature that died this turn. You draw three cards. //Attacker should wait for either passes or posts from the other participants; this is being posted before end of round due to its relevance to other characters' actions.
Sudden Refraction — This seems to be on the low side of costing when counting it as two reverberates. Other than that, more excess value packed onto one copy card does get to be exciting. 8/10

However, soon after, a massive chitinous limb emerged from the waves. Then another. Then another. Finally, a massive figure clad in chitin and debris launched from the waves and let out an unholy screech. As soon as its steps onto land, the beast is followed by a girl looking similar to Anne, albeit younger and with brownish-blonde hair. Then another woman, this one slightly older and of a more sturdy build, also appeared. Soon twelve of Anne's siblings shifted into human form and debated what to do next. Atlani hears the screech before she sees the creature. Finally reaching a vantage point, she looks down upon what seems to be the massive creature, a few survivors, a damaged Zero, a large number of bodies, and a suspicious lack of the zombies she had been told about. She sits for half a second, taking in the scene, before riding down the hill atop the snow leopard, running up to the group of Anne's siblings. At least half of the journey is spent watching the beast, with bow ready and arrow knocked in one hand, using the other to hold onto the cat's fur. "Bea, Wormwood, what the hell happened here?" Atlani shouts urgent, well aware that with the beast looming ominously, the fight might not be over. She stops about twenty meters from the group, trying to form a triangle with Atlani, Zero, and the siblings as the three points, and begins preparing a few more arrows by dipping them into open vials of poison on her quiver. She takes a moment to reformulate the question, then gestures towards the creature: "Is that who I think it is, and do I need to be worried about her?" test cajun Saltwater clung to Kadri like a frigid vice as she trudged back onto land, her sword a hair’s width from dragging along the muddy shore, yet still determined to continue her pace. Her eyes scanned the still battlefield, looking over the remains of her vessel, fallen corpses from living and undead alike, and… Kadri fixed her gaze on the one woman standing in her sight, her path taking her towards the metallic warrior from earlier. No, these two were against her, and Kadri was not one to let allies conspire in her sight. She took another step forward before pain shot through her chest, her wobbling gait now ceasing as she lumbered forward and stopped, sword digging into the soil as she was forced to steady herself. Another bout of pain shook her, and her grip loosened, disarmed as she fell to her knees, announcing her presence with a heady cough. Her skin soon joined her chest in the unison of pain, forcing Kadri to cry out as she felt her body abandon her control. No, no, no, she’d made a deal, she’d made a deal! “And now I’ve come to collect,” said the familiar voice, not from inside her head, but from behind it, Kadri turning wildly towards its source, whereupon a short few muttered obscenities escaped her lips. Behind Kadri was an ethereal figure, wrapped in opulent gold-trimmed clothing that befitted that of a noblewoman. Raven hair, pinned back by an equally opulent ornament that rested upon her hair, waved against an unseen wind, while in her hand she held a small, crystaline shell, which Kadri’s eyes now turned fervently towards. She was unperturbed by the devastation around them, and not even appearance of the chitinous titan in the background, her attention fixed on Kadri, and should Lettie be distracted, her as well. “I’ve given you everything!” Kadri protested, hacking her breath as the unamused empress, yes, empress best described her, looked down at her. “I gave you my treasures! My crew! Now even my ship! Everything I took from then on and more! What more do you want from me?” “You abuse my gifts too freely, corsair, and seek only your own petty goals.” She gestured around them, before gesturing back to Lettie herself. “Even for a trifle such as a poisoning. You think I would have let you die so easily like that? Your pride walks before you and hangs you on a noose of its own making.” She seemed to be in a jovial mood, but her gaze soured as she finished humoring herself. “I am altering our arrangement, pray I do not find reason to alter it further.”
Kadri stared, chest heaving as her eyes switched back between the shell in the apparition’s hand and the gaze of the woman that held it. To Lettie, it was easy to tell what was happening. Kadri’s patron had withdrawn her protection, whatever had prevented her from dying to her poison, and was feeling its affects. Acutely. She would have gotten to enjoy that prospect a bit longer before Kadri spoke up, ending the silence between them. “Deal,” Kadri said, each time worst than the last. The apparition smiled, before she clutched the shell and it dissipated. Kadri felt her breath return to her, her aches recede, and the strength to grip her sword filling her hand. With little ceremony, she grabbed her blade and turned back to face Lettie, preparing to step forward before stopping herself, and looking back over her shoulder. “Oh yes, I suppose you do need your orders now,” the woman mused, before looking past Kadri towards Lettie. “Kill that thing pretending to be a woman, or at least beat her. I don’t particularly care, it’s your petty grudge.” Kadri turned back to Lettie, while the woman behind her drew her attention elsewhere. “Hmm, but you might need some matter of assistance here, that pile of ash is giving me a wonderful idea..” The woman raised her hand, beckoning towards the drifting remains of Lettie’s former summon. From within the charred remnants a subtle wave of energy rippled from beneath the pile, sifting the scattered ashes before it slowly began to rise up from above them. The familiar, bestial appearance of the beast soon formed from the amorphous blue substance that had only just been breathed into existence, now shuddering back to a facsimile of life from the hand of another powerful sorceress. It didn’t take long before its body became steady, and it howled at the sky, before fixing its attention towards Lettie. “Now you may kill her.”//Maeavah has summoned her own form of Sovereign's Matron from Lettie's conceptual graveyard. Fun! What Doesn't Kill You: Weird. 7/10, Haunt is a weird mechanic much like Cipher, but I think this uses the effect in a neat way. - Meaning from Tragedy: Black usually wants some kind of other cost, even if this is reduced by creatures dying. Zero returns to the reality of the fight. Her readings have gone completely berserk, biological readings, magical readings, consumption readings, all off the charts. And... corrosives. She had detected that combination once before, when Wormwood had followed her... somewhere she couldn't quite remember. She caught a glimpse of the reaper coming for her.
"Imagine how terrible it would be if you experienced... whatever that was, while in combat." It was you. It was always you. Everything. Was always. You.

Lettie hardly looks at Atlani as she calls her name, and shouts with a gesture of her scythe. "Magic of mass destruction, conjured by that necromancer! She...", and Lettie pauses as the ethereal figure appears. They take their time speaking, while Zero lies right before Lettie. Kadri's contractor or no, they are secondary to this, and will be next after that accursed creation. Then Lettie barely registers something being pulled from the aether before a bright light floods her vision. She blindly tosses the vial forward, but the shock sends her vial far off target, and the resulting cloud can easily be escaped by anyone. Overwhelmed as she is, Lettie doesn't think to dodge, and is nearly flattened by the motorcycle which falls on top of her. A construct. This is Zero's summon. I missed my chance. Lettie struggles to breathe as the mockery of her summon is being pulled from ashes, and coughs out blood, only to find it blackened like oil. Melancholic. My blood is being replaced. I've no choice but to retreat. Lettie had already planeswalked just to attack Zero. Her stride was wide and swift, but even this would take its toll on her. She just needs a few seconds, which she buys with her breath. She lets loose all the cackling that she had suppressed before, and forces her response to Maevah and Kadri out between coughs. "Well, isn't this... a shame. You're the greatest fool... I've ever fought... Kadri. You willingly chose eternal suffering, just to... fight me... on this spot? Goodbye." And the planeswalk completes. Lettie vanishes. She reappears in one of her secluded shops, the miasma clinging to her, as she vomits more blackened blood. Her last thought is the faint hope that this might be the end, before she falls to fevered unconsciousness.Lettie can no longer accept new attacks on her board. //We've discussed where the fight should move after this, and that choice will be made following Kadri/Maevah's response to this retreat.
Creature — Faerie Treefolk Wither
Ancient Gatekeeper can block an additional creature each combat. 2/6
//Response to Anne.
History Marches On Instant Exile up to X cards from target graveyard, where X is the greatest power among creatures on the battlefield. Draw a card.
//Response to Maevah assisted Zero. Alternatively, just concede when the target goes on stack, and hope someone else gets Maevah's controller now that they're down so much value.
Witness to the Predipap — In light of cards like Doomed Dissenter, this comes off as awfully weak. If you're trying to promote multicolour, your cards need to be appropriately costed to account for the difficulty of casting gold spells in order for them to be desirable. Besides that, it's appropriate to the situation. 7/10
Maevah, Empress of Depths — There's a gross amount of value here from even one trigger on entry, but it's hard to definitively say at costs like this. Simply put, if you resolve it, you win. Otherwise, it's gold enough, though doesn't stand out too much from similar designs, even if all the aesthetic choices are good. 9/10
Car Crash — Great flavour, and seems like a cool way to bend vehicles into green. Not super certain on rarity or implied multiplayer cases (I was wrong, this can be used to destroy an enemy vehicle, it's a good design). 10*/10

testKadri and Maevah watch from the sidelines as Lettie clings to her life, the former clearly desiring to finish what she had started, the latter content to see things play out. To Kadri's chagrin and Maevah's amusement, they observe Lettie's failure, her near miss with the vehicle from nowhere, and then absorb her parting remark before she flees, leaving the master and her puppet to themselves. With no one to direct her ire towards but herself, Kadri fumes silently, sheathing her sword and glancing at Zero, before staring at the ruined battleground around them. All that effort, all that waste...just to know the face of her enemy... "It was worth it, corsair," the empress spoke, Kadri's attention inexplicably returned to face her patron, "but now I think it's my turn to decide what we do next. Besides, there's one place you haven't looked for anything valuable yet." With a laugh that rang across the battleground, a torrent of water surged from the coast and swallowed the pair, taking the two back into the ocean, the monstrous impostor that the empress had summoned following after them, dipping beneath the waves and eventually disappearing. History Marches On: 7/10. Neat card, weird conditional graveyard exile, fine as a cantrip.

Caustic Cavalry is hard to judge as it doesn't really have any real analogue. I think it's fine and a really creative use of -1/-1 counters to essentially give it Bushido 1. 9/10
Ancient Gatekeeper looks like it might be too much of a wall for 4 mana with wither, even with two colors. Wither is the big issue here, making up for a lack of power by making everything permanent. 6/10

When the sun begins to set, Lettie is joined on the balcony where she had once seen her whole life before her, by none other than the sorriest bastard she has ever known. He certainly seems regretful. "It was my duty to defend your honour, and I betrayed that duty... all I ever wanted was for us to be safe; claiming interference in our work was the easiest way to buy time. Please, I beg your forgiveness."
She snorts, disbelieving. "By blaming the material cause of our failure entirely on me? How, pray tell, was that supposed to protect anyone but you?"
He speaks softly, as though to a child. "You would have been branded a madwoman, but you would have been kept under my family's care, and we could have remained together while I worked on a replacement for the Regent. I'm amazed that you survived on your own for this long, out in the far reaches of who knows where."
Her blood boils at the prospect, but gives way to the cold of her exhaustion. "...As am I. But I cannot live like this anymore, always harming others just to survive on my own terms..."
He opens his arms to offer a transgressive embrace. "Even now, I will protect you."
"...I forgive you." She sinks into his warm, pulsing embrace, and
She awakens from the shock of being thrown to the ground by the necrotic explosion, the miasma releasing its hold on her. She briefly understands how foolish a dream of forgiveness could be. Lettie scrambles to her feet, to face Kadri, who is looking back over her shoulder at her contractor, an ethereal woman in opulent dress, with a crystalline shell in hand.
“Oh yes, I suppose you do need your orders now,” the woman muses, before looking past Kadri towards Lettie. “Kill that thing pretending to be a woman, or at least beat her. I don’t particularly care, it’s your petty grudge.”
Lettie looks back over her own shoulder, at the blackened figure with broken wings, through whom the great stars on high can still be seen, wreathed in smoke, wormwood, and boughs of apple.
"No, I shall give you no such guidance," its voice rumbles through her, as it raises an accusatory talon. "Your choices, your mistakes, are yours to bear."
Lettie pulls a vial of blue glass from her belt. "Then I choose to end this." She raises it, only for a convulsion to run through her; she involuntarily drops the vial to the ground, and it shatters.
"I will not allow that, ever. The punishment for a crime against nature is to exist, such that you were created to be."
Lettie digs her nails into her neck, and
She awakens from her slumber at her shop's counter, raising her head and neck from her folded arms, roused by the chimes at her door. She has a visitor.
"Lettie, is that you? I'm back from the Highlands... you seem different." There she is, a silhouette against the setting sun, in riding dress hanging loosely about what Lettie supposes is yet another stay drawn and laced to an unhealthy extreme, sword still proudly at her visitor's side after all these years.
Lettie shields her eyes from the glare from her door. "It has been so long since we've seen one another... I can scarcely remember your voice."
Her visitor has already closed the distance, to improperly sit upon the counter, looking down on Lettie's weary gaze with a smile. "If only we could have reunited sooner... If only you'd suffered this curse sooner; it was better deserved by so many. What my father could have done with the time you have..."
Lettie covers her ears and screws her eyes shut. "Enough. She would never say such a thing... of all the illusions so far, this is by far the most feeble."
Yet it does nothing to keep her visitor's voice from reaching her. "Then why was it, Lettie, when you told me of your discovery, that I stopped writing to you?"
Lettie digs her nails into her scalp, opens her eyes, and
She awakens face down on the floor, where she had slipped away into unconsciousness after barely escaping the battle on the coast. With a groan, she rolls onto her back, and sits up to see the sun setting outside her shop. I've lost precious time; it's a wonder that Zero didn't find me in my slumber. Slowly, she stands, and

Everything hurts.
Lettie Wormwood awakens face down on the floor, to find that she cannot bend her back, much less stand, without being completely overcome by pain; even breathing is difficult. Of course, the impact of that construct couldn't have entirely healed. I will be sorely surprised if this is not at last my painful reality. With care, she slides one arm between her torso and the floor, and then slowly rolls herself onto her back; she nearly screams when her own weight shifts the pressure around what remains of her ribs. Then, she searches for a regeneration potion on her belt that wasn't shattered by Zero's attack, and carefully pulls it away. Then, she uncorks it as close to her head as she can manage. With as much of an agonizing inclination of her head from the ground as Lettie can maintain, she holds her breath, and chokes down the potion and falls back into what feels to her like an imitation of a dropped bag of glass. All she can do now is wait, and plan.
That was my best opportunity to destroy Zero, and I won't find another like it; she knows too much of my involvement. I had underestimated the forces controlling Kadri as well. Every contract bought, every life lost, all wasted. It seems the time has come once again for me to find a new home, on a new rotting plane to scavenge—or to at least set my remaining affairs in order.
The shops are all closed. One by one, they are being abandoned, stripped of their signs, then all their goods, and then finally their furnishings. Soon, all that will remain will be the cat sanctuaries with their aether tunnels, and Lettie's own home, for what time there is left that she may call it that. Informants are being handed their final payments along with apologies, with some asked to organize management of the cat sanctuaries. Poor Alsy is given the greatest sum of all; she needs something to survive after all that she has lost.
Lettie Wormwood herself is taking care to avoid visitors; she is rarely seen enough that rumors have begun to spread among some of her former clients that she has perished, and that suits her just fine.

Zero kicks in a shop door, exploding it to splinters. The shop has been cleared of all but the subtle lingering spell. "Well?" she yells at the silence. "If you're going to attack me then do it already!"
Something about the spell was familiar. It felt like when Planeswalker[10] had appeared beside her. The remnants of a planeswalk. She had not been retaught how to do that, but she could do it before. She could figure it out.
Zero focuses not on a location, but the aetherprint and the person who left it. The hateful face, surrounded in vials, casting out worms. She took a step, and followed wherever it lead. Zero has spent 100 Valor and unlocked torment.
We All Fall Down Sorcery Multikicker—Torment yourself. (You lose 3 life unless you discard a card or sacrifice a nonland permanent.) Torment each opponent, then torment them again for each time this spell was kicked.

Zero steps through the veil, and finds herself in a similar shop, yet one that is only halfway abandoned. Strewn about the shop are various casting materials, products, and alarms, such as a dingo on its side, or an alligator on the ceiling, with one of its nails loose, or a bass on the wall, more despondent than ever. Wormwood herself is behind a counter, having just stopped dragging another taxidermied alligator at the sight of Zero's planeswalk. "The prototype angel finally sees fit to descend upon us." With a mock professional smile, she hauls the work onto the counter, and dusts off her apron. She may not be in full protective dress, but as Zero can see, Lettie's belt and coat are bristling with potions and tools. "I assume the shining construct before was your work, so let us dispense with all pretense." She stops suppressing her snarl of disdain, and her fingers trail miasma as she slams a hand on the alligator. "Pretense, after all," she all but spits, "cost me so many opportunities before, but now all my affairs are in order, save for naming my heir. So, let's not—"
Lettie begins her attack in the middle of her sentence, animating every alarm strewn about the shop that could possibly harm or impede Zero. One alligator leaps from the counter, as another drops from the ceiling; the dingo scrambles to its feet, before jumping for Zero's sword arm, and after a few moments, a leopard's skin and an elk's skeleton will seek to tackle Zero to the ground. "...waste any more time."
Planted Diversion Enchantment When Planted Diversion enters the battlefield, you gain 7 life. , Sacrifice Planted Diversion: Target creature gains hexproof and indestructible until end of turn. //Here's some life to pay, and some Cover for later.
We All Fall Down — This becomes more efficient as you kick it due to the manner in which symmetric modal costs scale with repetition. With that in mind, the kicking not being exactly tied to game progression is also a reason to take points off. 7/10
