Rudara stands there for a moment, even the raging blizzard only forcing the slightest shiver from Rudara, before she turns to Mei, the slighest of scowls on her face. This loss was...disappointing. But only a fool would claim that they had lost everything.Stepping closer to the bleeding vampiress, a hand reaches out for the wound, a soft glow emanating from it as she works on the wound. She was silent, working her magic without difficulty, as if it weren't an issue to cure the wounded. It probably wasn't... "What is it Saia requires of you?" The question was sudden, blunt, and delivered with the force of a scolding mother wielding a forge hammer. The look on Rudara's face matched the intent. She did not have time for further games. Well, she wants me to learn everything you know, and then make you forget either of us exist.
Which, at this point, I'd rather not try.
If you mean why she's decided she owns me now, I'm in the dark as you. She jumped me at home, I tried to shake her, she followed.
You're going to want to watch your back now more than ever. That woman holds a grudge like you would not believe.Trail of Misery Instant Change the text of target instant or survey sorcery spell or ability by changing all instances of "gain" with "lose." Reclaim the Broken - hrm, loads of life and it cantrips. Probably shouldn't draw. 7/10

cajun Rudara simply stared into the vampire's face, her expression unchanging. She didn't stop herself from healing the vampire however, and soon the flesh had knit itself back together. "Good. You seem to understand what's happening here. That's more than I can say for most." Rudara's hand retreats, clasping it's pair as the goddess looked down on the one partly responsible for this. Rudara now had an enemy. "That leaves us with a conundrum. If you fail to take my memory, Saia will act accordingly, against both of us. If I permit you to take my memory, Saia will likely expect I have left something behind to remind myself of these events, and the results will be the same." She turned to face Leia, her face neutral now, impassive, uninterested...collected. "But I've spoken enough about what I would do. Tell me, what are you going to do?"

I look at the creature, contemplative for a moment, before saying, "I am unfamiliar with this creature, but I can recognize the similarities. The one that we saw on New Phyrexia... it was not what I would have considered compleat, but looking at this creature I find myself wondering. Still..." I pause, meeting Rehysia's gaze as I ask, "You are certain that the one we saw was neither manufactured in that form, nor actively compleated? That it was instead a natural transformation induced through mere exposure to the oil?" "We don't have much of anything, Vasq. I'm not sure I could even tell you a difference between exposure and active compleation? Mirrodin had reports of oil, weird mutations to the metallic creatures that came into contact with it, vedalken doing experiments with it, and then the whole plane is at war in a matter of months, and New Phyrexia not much later."

The vampire quietly shakes her head. I don't know, she finally says. I've stuck with her because I wouldn't last a week working against her.She unsteadily pulls herself up. So looks like my options from bad to worse are run like hell, try to outwit a god, or try to fight her. I've not had the best track record at any of those things.Tavathi's Presence Enchantment Your opponents and permanents your opponents control with hexproof can be the targets of spells and abilities you control as though they didn’t have hexproof. Whenever an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls with hexproof becomes the target of a spell you control, scry 1. Mindguard - Permanents side of this is fine, spell side doesn't work (and unlike say phasing spells, can't work cause it'd make hexproof creatures also uncounterable and such) 7/10

Rudara muses for a moment, her face stern, before her signature smirk, which is to say, an incredibly small one, graced her face. "I find, there is always a third option. It's a matter of whether you know it exists or not." Rudara turned back towards the vampire, with a hand extended out. "You are bound between two forces that seek to destroy each other. One has done you irreparable harm. The other has graced you with their aid. You need not find yourself bound to the one that would seek us both destroyed." "Join me, Mei Liva. In secret, even to me. Erase my mind of these events, and return to her with news you have infiltrated my order. When the deed is done, and the last frozen breath has been drawn from her cold, soulless, corpse, you will be immortalized as one of my eternal champions." {Response Card - Bare Aid} Bare Aid - Enchantment - Play with your hand revealed. Whenever a permanent or spell you control becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you gain 2 life. Tavathi's Presence: Seems like a decent hybrid card, although I have a hard time seeing this in monoblack. Interesting idea though. 6/10

The vampire instantly recoiled at the offer. Listen to my voice. If I do this and fail, death will be a mercy. Her stance widened as she uneasily pulled up her sword. If you don't remember, I'll be trying to outwit a god and fight her at the same time. If you want to remember, walk away. If you want to forget, act disappointed.Third Option Instant Choose one — • Return target creature to its owner's hand. • Target player sacrifices a creature. • Target creature gets +1/+1 and gains hexproof and deathtouch until end of turn. cajun Rudara, for her part, gave an appreciable frown at Mei, quickly procuring her iron staff and pointing the end towards the vampire. "After everything I do for you, you spurn me now. You disappoint me, greatly." {Response Card - Dubious Opposition} {It doesn't interact that much...but it's too good not to use now.} Third Option: I like the flavor of this card, and it's also the only time I'll let you get away with using Rudara as the flavor text. Fits the price of a utility card, since most of those cost 2 cmc for their effect, it's good. 10/10

Rudara, for her part, gave an appreciable frown at Mei, quickly procuring her iron staff and pointing the end towards the vampire. "After everything I do for you, you spurn me now. You disappoint me, greatly." The vampire vanished into a puff of smoke, which whipped around the goddess. For just a moment, she rematerialized in midair, a hand reaching out to pull a strand of pure silver from the massive mind. Everything she had learned in the past few moments vanished, and then, the vampire vanished with them. Mindrip Sorcery Target player discards their hand. You may cast a card discarded this way without paying its mana cost. "What you don't know can hurt you, and is probably actively trying to." Dubious Opposition - dubious for the same reasons as its green brother. interestingly, you getting the creature first might make this worse since there's no way to set up anything like Ravenous Chupacabra or w/e to kill what they steal. 7/10

I smile at the stranger. "Okay! We don't have a lot of magic where I'm from, but I'd love to try."
I watched him reach into the dust cloud around him, very aware of the motions, the swirl of mana, the creation of the glass. I didn't see any reason I couldn't do it.

I love the combination of abilities here, and the -1/-1 counter as a cost for the activation fits beautifully from a flavor standpoint. 10/10I nod, and say, "I shall do so, should I learn anything more regarding this. Until we meet again, then." With that, I leave the bakery, considering the options available to me.

I looked at the unbroken glass, and then I got up and crouched in front of the girl.
"Yeah, looks like it, kid. However, I think I saw you do something inside my cloud, so I don't think you're as non-magical as people think. Just keep trying - I'm sure you'll figure it out someday."
I reached out and tapped the glass - a slender chain of glass beads condensed out of thin air and attached itself to the wafer. A holographic image of her spear embossed itself in the glass itself.
"You can keep that as a souvenir, if you'd like. The chain's just as unbreakable as the rest of it, unless you know the trick."Fragile Keepsake - Artifact At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Fragile Keepsake. If you do, draw two cards. . Unbreakable is interesting. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about loyalty mana, but I guess it works? 8/10 "Oooo," I say to the shimmering changes to the glass, "well, thank you. It's very pretty. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help."Admiration Enchantment When Admiration enters the battlefield, draw a card. If a spell or ability would cause you to sacrifice a permanent, you may sacrifice Admiration instead. Fragile Keepsake - hm, pretty handily outclasses Divination while being colorless. dodgy on this one. 7/10

MEANWHILE IN ENTELA
// The earliest rays of sunlight start poking into the clearing. Karina shifts slightly in her sleep.
Something is moving something is touching what
// Karina's eyes shoot open
Oh, right. I breathe a sigh of relief and gently hug Hannah, who's still asleep. Freaking out didn't wake her up, thankfully. Part of me… most of me wanted to stay here and just hold her until she woke up. The rest of me knew there was work to be done. I very carefully pull myself free without disturbing her.
I stretch out a bit as I grab my bag and walk some ways away from her. Usually my arms feel all stabby after sleeping like that, but they were fine today. Weird. I set out the box that Pidge brought, then send a quick message to Master Sara.
Contact Karina whenever ready Thanks
I haven't even reached for the needle when she calls. Guess I'm not the only one up early. "Connect."
"Hi. What's up?"
"Hello, Master Sara. You said to contact if I had questions, and there were a few things I wanted to ask, but not in front of Hannah."
"Right, go ahead."
I try to work on the stitching and talk at the same time. "Do you know what happened to me in the tunnel? Hannah said it was only a second, but it was a lot more than a second."
"It was definitely only a second. I recognized a powerful non-elemental spell, but obviously I couldn't analyze it."
Powerful spell? Where'd that come from? "Could you tell like, where it came from? I think the only spell me or Hannah even knows is planeswalking."
"No, but I would guess that Hannah didn't learn how to cast a spell like that and it certainly didn't come from any other Volarian."
"Well, I'm pretty sure it didn't come from me. What about me not being able to see her? Or, why I could see her on the Arena but not in Entela? Is that a clue for anything?" It wasn't much but it was about the only thing we did have.
"That definitely sounds like you cast a spell. I would need to know what the spell does to tell you."
"I'd need to know what it does to tell you, too," I say sadly. Looks like this one was going nowhere. "Okay, next question. Is it... normal for Hannah to live almost by herself? She doesn't seem to like it much."
"I... think what Fulmen does is normal? I don't think what Arina does is. I'm not actually sure. My experience with parents is having one die before I could remember and the other one erase or otherwise disrupt my memory something like twenty times until he was executed for destroying Entela and-- sorry, I shouldn't be bothering you with that. I don't think Hannah's supposed to be alone as much as she is."
"Um. Wow." Are everyone's parents crazy, or just the people I know? "I guess I'll try to talk to Miss Nisita when I get back to the Arena then."
"That would be a good idea, yeah. She's not there on any official business so I can't exactly call her back."
"Okay, one last thing. Do you know if there's any reason I wouldn't be able to come back to Entela? I'm still new at this planeswalking thing and I don't know all the rules yet."
"Nothing on our end. We're also new at this planeswalking thing, which is why I've put Seiva in charge of it."
"Great! I'll talk with her if I have anything else then I guess." Let's see, is there anything else I could ask? Or maybe, find out what they'd want? "Is there anything you want to ask me?"
"If you figure out what happened on your way here, would you mind letting me know?"
"It doesn't seem very likely, but I don't see why not."
"That should be it, at least for now then. Would like to know what went wrong so it doesn't go wrong again."
"Okay. Well, thanks for your time!" We disconnect, and I continue working with the fabric and fluff for a while longer.
Eventually I hear Hannah moving. I stuff everything back in my bag and walk back over to her. "Karina, what are you doing over there?"
I sit on the blankets next to her and grin "Oh... I just needed to take care of a few things before we go anywhere." I lean in closer to her and look into those cheery eyes. "And there's just one thing left on my list." I lean in and give her her first kiss for the day.
"I don't have much planned today. We kinda went through everything I planned out. Did you have something you wanted to do while you're here?"
"Um, I don't know? This place is nice. Or we could try some more places at Augmentation. But, mostly what I wanted to do is be with you, so,” I trail off into a grin.
"Ooh, there's a game in augmentation where you can build stuff in worlds that don't actually exist. We should check that out, it's a lot of fun." She pulls me back into a hug and I hold her in return. "Don't worry, no matter where we go, I'll be with you."

"You know mister Aeryl, right? Well next time you're headed off to Volaria, make sure you meet with him first. He's got an easy job with a sweet payment," she smiles.

MEANWHILE IN ENTELA (A Karina POV of the dress segment cause there's some Karina internal bits I wanted to show here)“Here, let’s get you some clothes,” Hannah says as she leads me into a clothing store. There are mirrors all over the place, some pretty dresses over there, some working clothes over there, all of it made out a really light fabric, which makes sense given how crazy hot Entela is. “So, uh… what kind of clothes do you like wearing?” She breaks through my staring.
“But I already have clothes?” I remind her. I had brought enough for the weekend. It was also all the clothes I had, but I didn't add that.
“Yeah, but why not get more clothes? I don’t know, something more suited to Entela being really really warm.”
“I guess a new dress wouldn’t be so bad? It’s been a while since I’ve had a nice one.”
“Okay! Let’s go find some dresses for people our size!”
She wanders around the store, seeming a little lost before finally we come across a rack with some about our heights. Hannah picks one up off a rack and holds it up to her.
“Here we are!” She puts the dress back and gestures wildly at the rack of dresses. “So, uh… it’s your forge now? There’s all these colors, there’s some lacey things. Most of them I bet you’d look really cute in.” I'm caught off guard by that, again. I feel my face burn and try to hide it. She flashes her amazing smile and starts poking through the dresses. I almost say something, but now it'd just feel like I was doing it cause she was. I could wait.
I flick through the dresses, white, black, red, green, ooh, this purple one? I pull off few to find the right size. It looks nice. “Oh, yeah, that’ll work. I’m gonna go try this on, did you want to try yours on too?” I look over to Hannah, who's pulled off a black one. I breathe a little easier, but I'm not quite sure why.
“Okay, lead the way.” Hannah guides us through another maze to get to the changing rooms, which are weirdly similar to the ones back on Festenya given how much everything else changed.
I slip on the dress and look at the stranger in the mirror. Was.. was that me? This reflection seemed... happier than normal. And maybe a little cuter. That was probably the dress though.
I step out of the room, but Hannah's still in hers, having some trouble by the sounds of it. I nervously hold my arm and watch all the people running around. Without Hannah here, someone was probably going to realize I shouldn't be here and kick me out. I try to hold my smile so no one suspects. Every time they look at me I know they know though.
Hannah finally steps out in the black dress, cute as ever. She smiles and gives a little spin. Wow. I don't think it was just the dress this time. “How do I look?”
“Oooo.” I grin. Now. “And here I thought you couldn’t get any cuter.” Hannah gasps and her face goes bright red. My grin grows as she looks to the floor for a moment. So that's why she keeps doing it. She looks back up with a smile.
“Wow." She steps over and comes down to kiss me. Guess I'll have to do that more often. “Both to what you said and how you look. Let’s get changed back and pay for these?”
“Sure,” I say, feeling my smile growing as we go to change back.
She smiles at me as we head up to the store owner to pay for the dresses. “Credit, Delcarlo-Nisita,” No. Not this time.
I turn to her. “I’ll pay for mine.”
“I can cover it, don’t worry.” Way too late for that.
“No, you’ve paid for everything else, let me handle this one.”
She laughs. “Okay. Mine’s the black one.”
I pull out all the ryla I got from Rixos, then realize I have no idea if it's enough. That should be, if dresses cost about the same? “So, I’ve got this much ryla, is it going to be enough?”
The store owner looks at the coins, then pushes two of them back to me. “That’ll leave you with two, is that good?”
Great! Probably! I look to Hannah and ask, “Does that look right?”
“Uh… I think so?”
I turn back with a grin. “Of course.”
He sweeps up the coins and nods. “Feel free to come back any time!”
As we leave, Hannah looks to me. “I’ve got one more thing to show you today, a little bit outside of the city. You ready?”
“Always.”

This is the last stop on the Meanwhile on Entela story arc. You shouldn't have to read the others to get this one (which may be having the biggest effects on the Arena, except for perhaps the character changes in Persistent Love), but I'd recommend reading them. There's links to the previous parts in the first spoiler below. Meanwhile in Entela...
Hannah and I talk our plans all the way to her classroom. I'll come back to see her again. It'll be great. When we get to the door, she grabs my free hand with both of hers. “You’ll be careful, right?”I've made it this far without someone as amazing as you to- No, that'd worry her. "Of course. I won't let anything happen to me," I look into her eyes and give her my best smile, "I love you too much to let that happen."“Good.” I started standing as tall as I can, and she comes down to meet me in a kiss. “I love you too, Karina. You ready to go?”I give her a sad smile. “Not really. But I know it’s time. I’ll see you again as soon as I can, okay?”“I’ll see you soon.” She smiles and waves. I close my eyes and think of that peaceful orchard to calm my nerves. Time to go home. Very late. Probably very in trouble. But worth it.
I take a deep breath of the Arena air... except... something is wrong.
Meanwhile in ???...
I open my eyes and look around. This was not the Arena. Fruit trees seem to stretch on forever, with vines running all around the ground. The smell of ash filled the air.
I take a few uneasy steps. This was the place from earlier, I think. It seemed a little different, but, close enough. I look at all the fruits, and wonder if any of them are good to eat. Or safe to eat, for that matter. My eyes pass back over the the open grass and I notice a trail, and I run to find where it leads.
The trail is on a gentle slope. I look down the slope there's a clear and nearly motionless lake. I look up and see a small wooden room tucked into the trees with... Volarian writing on the door?
I walk up to the door. There's Volarian script in fresh paint, and underneath it are faded Festenian letters. Both of them say the same thing:Karina OblayWhat? Who? How? What? I knock on the door and it quietly opens. I hold up the Sunspear. "Hello?" Silence. I creep through the door. The room goes back further than it looked like from the outside. Straight ahead is a desk covered in books and papers. The other half of the back hides behind a heavy curtain. In a corner near the door, there's an aether thing-y like Hannah had been working with. Next to that is a desk with a weird gadget and two aethersteel things behind it. I creep closer and notice a dresser tucked in behind that.
Behind the curtain there is still no one, just a big bed and a treasure chest. I look at it, which has the double writing again: "Zero Inventory: Prepare, Pack, Emergency, Replace"I lean the spear against the wall and open the chest. It's full of useful things and some strange ones, ranging from ropes and knives and aether canisters to a pair of goggles, a dusty old map, and some weird mess of metal. Sitting at the center of it all though, was a letter, labeled "Karina, Age 11"I look around nervously and go check outside again. Nothing. I open the letter.Karina, You opened the chest first, didn't you? Get the letter by the aether thing-y."Okay, not creepy at all," I try to laugh off. I walk over the the aether thing-y. There's a gadget that looks like a tiny radio antennae with another "Karina, Age 11" letter. Karina, First off, congrats. Double congrats if this is your first letter. This was my home away from home for many years. Now, it's yours. I'm sure you'll learn why before long. The attached device is the RELAY. You'll need it to use the transceiver on most planes. Also, it's got maybe a year left before it breaks, so make sure to have Pidge make a new one before that happens.
Welcome to the Oblay Santuary. I know it'll serve you well. A friend of a friendAt the bottom of the letter is another line, in a messier handwriting, with a unreadable word scribbled out. Don't worry about what you think you are. No matter what you think, you're the most amazing person in my her life.I pick up the RELAY, which is a bit tall, but not very heavy. Behind it is a big aethersteel clock from Entela, reading the full date. Why would a clock even need a year?Karina has spent 200 Valor and unlocked Planar Champion: Oblay Sanctuary Karina has spent 100 Valor and changed her commander to Karina Oblay/Hannah Delcarlo-Nisita

Previously in Festenya...
I could barely recognize myself. The girl in the mirror twirled around, her pretty blue dress swishing as she moved. She had the biggest smile I had ever seen in this mirror.
"I love it!" I squeak as I hug daddy. "But how did you get it? I thought-" "Don't you worry about it," he cut me off with a grin. "Worrying's my job. You just enjoy that and look cute."
We dance around the mirror for a few more minutes before I hear mommy finally coming home. I run off to greet her.
"Mommy, look what daddy got me!" I say, spinning to show it off.
Her smile is smaller than I expected. "I'm glad you like it." Then she crosses her arms and looks at daddy. "I thought you said we couldn't," she whispered. "Where in the world did you get the money?"
"Don't you worry about it," he repeats with his smile.
"Now I'm twice as worried."
"Look, I'm working on a deal with-" "What were you thinking?" she whispered harshly. She didn't want me to hear but was really bad at it. My smile shrinks away and I hug mommy's leg.
"I'm sorry. I can give it back?" Mommy pinches at her eyes. "Now look what you've done."
She pats my shoulder. "It's not your fault this time, Karina, okay? It's just your father."
"Listen, we're going to be fine. I've worked out a deal. In just a few days, we'll never have to worry about money again." He looks down to me and smiles. "This is just the beginning."
Mommy gives him a dirty look. "Karina, why don't you play outside for a bit? Daddy and I need to talk. You can keep the dress if you promise not to muss it up."
"Thank you!" I squeal and hug her. "I'll make sure nothing happens to it!"
