<BB> Cajun's Battle Board [Cygari of the Thousand Steps]

"Yeah, I guess I'd probably be the first Volarian to know what an Eternity map is and what it's supposed to look like."  I lightly drag my finger in a circle around the cluster of planes that just got put there.  "The Lerithans-- oh right, that's what they're called-- they call this area Volarian Local Space.  Supposedly Linela didn't like it much at first.  It's very strange what other planes decide to call things when you're not watching."

I glance at my transceiver.  "Well, looks like it's about time for everyone else to arrive at the outpost.  Aaaand I'm the project head, which means I need to be there when they arrive, so I'll need to head back.  Feel free to stop by if you're curious what we're up to, and you can bet you'll see more of us."  I lightly lift the baskets to my hand using what is probably the most useful spell in existence.  "Oh, Mister Aeryl is probably going to stop by in the next couple of days.  He's not under my authority, but he said he was looking for some planeswalkers for a simple job."

Land Chart a Course is great. Not sure how expensive it needs to be. 9/10

I tried not to react when I saw Xirix - if that's who I thought it was, I owed a version of them some cash. Hopefully not yet, though.

"My full name is Thrice-Empty Mattol - but you can call me Mattol. All my friends do."

I bit into the muffin with relish, and chased it down with a gulp of coffee.

"This is amazing - I'm glad you're here! A bit weird that you decided to set up on the Arena, but I guess that just means that you don't have much competition."

I closed my eyes briefly, and added a muffin to the frosted glass hanging behind me. After a moment's thought, I added a copy of Sevid's mark to the map.

"If you want it, you can have it, by the way. It's not like I'm lacking in raw materials."

The Multiverse Collection is... I love that we have this little "different names matter" subtheme. And I think that this is a pretty fair buildaround card for that kind of theme - you can get a ton of life off of this if you build your mana base properly (One-ofs of all of your lands? Why not?) A 9/10.

Rudarah's hands left from the vampire, turning fully to face the detective, her staff, cast aside now, lay on the ground as Rudarah stared, hard at the investigator, who dared question her authority. Her decision in this matter. She didn't do anything for a moment it seemed, her multitude of hands did not sway to conjure a spell, beasts did not erupt from the earth. Rudarah just seemed to stare, her gaze only becoming more piercing by the moment, not even blinking, her bright amber simply staring ahead and...

...was the snow...melting around her? 

And then she blinked. 

The world in front of Rudarah was instantly in flame, the ground, the sky, even the air itself seeming to catch fire from Rudarah's mere sight, even she was not unscathed, but unperturbed by how everything in her sight had just been set ablaze.

Saia's Grasp: A decent card, but an unfair win more if you work to get it's second effect to work. 2/10

Inspector Aevia Glais: If I hate anything, it's walkers that only stall, especially if they do it for free. There's no way around this one, and I deeply dislike it's always on ability to protect itself. 3/10

Rudara considered the actions of her counterpart from afar, her hands working on the last of the ice on the vampire's arm. Some distance away, within a contained sphere, a battle was raging between the investigator and a facsimile of the goddess. Part of it was her own perception of herself, but undoubtedly, some aspect of how the investigator perceived Rudara had seeped in as well. From the raging fire within the sphere, she had taken the extreme option.

Most would shudder, be horrified, at the idea they were capable of such destruction. Rudara was far from most, but it was...intriguing, to see how far she would go to win. Or at least, not lose.

"There. That should be the last of it." With one more flourish of magic, she dispelled the last of the cryomancer's ice. Tucked behind one hand was the tome, which she extended to Mei, some ice still clinging to it's pages.

"Go. Take this with you, and never utter my name when you open it's pages." Rudara's voice was stern, her gaze stony, but she almost seemed...worried for the vampire....Actually it was ridiculous. Rudara certainly did not have it in her to care for random strangers she met in the middle of nowhere.

"She will be furious to find the last few minutes have been a ruse. Allow me to deal with her. No one defies me."

Rudara, the Reincarnated: So uh...how does casting something that already exists work? This needs some hella reminder text for this to work. I think I get the idea, but it should come with it by default. Also you nabbed my gal's name, but I'll let that slide. Seems like a fitting legendary spell. 7/10

Casting something from the battlefield works the same as casting something from your hand or your graveyard or your library or exile or the command zone :^)
And ye it nabbed her name, cause the idea is the spell is Rudara, the god rewritten to be a spell rather than an entity.
and i have so little idea how to continue from that so um this i guess

Why did you do that? It's not gonna stop her. It's just going to get you killed. And you might not be alone, she keeps to herself.

I don't know what her deal is, other than she is not the kind of thing you want to get involved in if you can help it. As she tries to leave, a voice echoes from the ice left on the pages.

Mindworld - needs to turn itself face down cause conspiracies can't leave command. Also this does a lot of worrying things for the low price of free, including Time Stop. Gonna be a no from me. 2/10

"'Thrice-Empty' is... a little hard to explain. It's kinda like if you called yourself Everywhere Atlas Sevid or whatever."

"As for the cloud... that's just raw materials. I'm a glassweaver by vocation... though I'm led to believe that vitrumancy is exceptionally rare among non-Ptulans. I can do pretty much anything you could do mundanely with glass."

I took another bite of the muffin - so damn good.

"Granted, I'm also led to believe that my plane is a little ahead of the rest of the multiverse when it comes to optics and futzing with materials. So take that with a grain of salt."

Glittering Talisman is a fantastic little mana rock. I kinda wish it used charge counters... but sparkly things are blatantly better. 9/10

"I don't know Fyalaria, and Shandalar might be able to walk it off, yes. But, Skalor... it's not as susceptible as Mirrodin was, but there's a lot of bio-tech on the plane already. Half the oil's job is done already. We should check into that as soon as we can to make sure you're right that it's insufficient. Are there any details you've got, who it was, when it was?"

Compleation Vat - the self-usage flavor is excellent, but the best use of this is just to sprinkle counters everywhere with the way better Gnarled Effigy 7/10

"Entela's got some fancy devices for traveling through the Eternities.  All that work on aether, turns out we've got pretty good containers that keep the aether away from the food.  Could shove the whole box in the eternities and leave it there and it'll still be fine in ten years.  Don't gotta worry about the cake making it."

Ryla Pile is fun because these coins could be literally used as a catalyst for spells by Volarians. Very simple, probably balanced. 10/10

I do not underestimate, came a voice on the wind. While nowhere to be seen, the chill in the air told the pair she was close. The vampire turned to run, preparing to planeswalk.

You are trying to bargain with things that already belong to me. An icicle spear formed and the vampire ran herself through, interrupting the spell.

I will offer you a new deal. You will leave. I will take what is mine. The shard in her stomach glowed blue as the inspector's armor had.

And you can have whatever pieces are left when I'm done with them.

At the goddess's spell, I see once more all I have wrought upon the Multiverse. People and armies and gods sent to stop me, all crushed by their ignorance.

I see Mei die. I see the goddess try to avenge her. I see her and this backwater plane encased in ice forevermore.

It's such a pleasant sight.

Why thank you, dear, the wind mocks. It's been so long since some of those, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed them.

Now, if you don't mind, I've got a demon to add to my collection, so I'll be needing these back.

The icicle spear pulls Mei forward. A single step is heard behind Rudara. A hand reaches for the book, the ice already growing around it once more. This close to Saia, the temperature is so low it burns.

i just wanted this funny little B plot where Saia pretends to be a cmc 2 investigator and we ended up here somehow, BB is great

While I like the idea, I dislike the asymmetric buff it gets - something about the '+2/+1'  just doesn't seem right to read.  Overall a good card, though.  9/10

I watch Sevid's reaction, taking note that something about my presence - or my use of the oil - on Skalor in particular angered the elf.  However, as Rehysia speaks, I listen, nodding as she asks her questions before finally responding.  "I recall each of the encounters since leaving Phyrexia where I have utilized my oil.  On Fyalaria I was asked to aid in a war against a powerful necromancer there named as Deleric, and found myself holding off the strongest of his lieutenants as we breached his citadel.  At the end of the battle, the necromancer's magic was disrupted to the point that it detonated - nothing within several miles of his citadel remained intact at all, save for myself.  Unfortunately, as I was the only planeswalker present, I was unable to engineer an escape from the blast for the rest of the Fyalarian troops." 

I pause for a moment, before continuing, "On Skalor, I was hired to slay a great dragon named as Zamei.  It was powerful enough that it nearly destroyed me on more than one occasion, and my oil was simply able to slow it enough to allow me to defeat it.  The weapon I used in that battle was an artifact of immense power - one that I have not had need of since, though I am uncertain whether I would be able to call upon it since I found myself weakened."

"Finally, on Shandalar, I was asked to try and cull the beings known as Slivers.  They are peculiar creatures - it seems that the presence of each one confers abilities upon all of them, and they coordinate on a level that I simply could not match.  In that case, utilizing my oil allowed me to survive, and actually caused the slivers to turn upon those whom I touched with the blades for some reason."

Finishing my explanation of the times I used my oil, I say to Rehysia, "From what you have said, you believe that the nature of the plane of Mirrodin allowed the oil to convert it into New Phyrexia, and you believe that the biotech used on Skalor may allow the same to occur there.  I am...  uncertain whether this would actually be possible - I know that I have not seen metal react in any unusual fashion to the oil before."
