Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and seventieth! The winner of the "Sportsball" poll were Aarhg (left) and Xenagos (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... AI has taken a central role in our technology-filled society, and with it the capability for machines to learn. Des ign a card that encapsulates the concept of AI by having it learn from in-game situations. (By "learn" I mean "take some initiative", like gaining a new ability without a player interacting with it.) To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

I'm very confused on this. Can we get an example?

I read it in MtG terms as a card with a triggered ability that improves the card when it triggers. It's not supposed to use an activated ability though, as that would be a player interaction.
EDIT: So for example this was my initial approach to the challenge - a robot learning to hit back after it was hit a few times.
(Might not be the final entry.)

I'm pretty sure this is meant to be a card that gains abilities based on what is happening.
Like gaining activated abilities of a card in exile, or sacrificing a creature to gain it's lifelink or trample, or a splice like effect, or maybe a copying effect that also gives counters based on the number of creature types or something.
All are examples

My entry. A mimic vat-esque effect that allows multiple creatures and puts counters on them. If anyone played Destiny in Rise of Iron, they may recognise the art. Attachment Deleted

The Dream Pool Plane - IquatanaWhenever a creature attacks, its controller exiles the top card of his or her library. The Dream Pool has all abilities of cards exiled with it. Whenever you roll , shuffle all cards you own exiled by The Dream Pool into your library. Note: The active player (the one who's turn it currently is) allways controls the plane. So if any ability says "you", that allways affects the active player.

I designed this way back in 4/6/18, before we knew what would happen in WAR. Signature is a supertype than can go on any card, so long as the corresponding planeswalker type is also included. The way it works is, so long as you control a planeswalker of the same type, you can that planeswlaker to search your library for a Siganture card with the same planeswalker subtype, reveal that card, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
Krokt, Domri's Pet Signature Legendary Creature--Domri Beast Trample, menace Whenever a creature blocks Krokt, Domri’s Pet, Krokt, Domri’s Pet gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is 1 plus that creature’s power or toughness, whichever is higher. Whenever a creature blocks Krokt, Domri’s Pet, if that creature has first strike, Krokt, Domri’s Pet gains first strike until end of turn. The same is true for double strike, deathtouch, lifelink, and indestructible. 4/6

If I could figure out how to make MSE cooperate with me I'd have just templated it as Ingest X, where X is the number of cards the defending player has in exile, but this is what you get.

Tesagk: You might wanna delete "until end of turn", and change gains to has.

Ascendant Automaton Artifact Creature- Construct Whenever you cast a spell, ~ becomes that spell's colors in addition to its other colors. Spells you cast cost less to cast for each color they share with ~. As long as ~ is four or more colors, it gets +2/+2 and has flying. 2/2

darknova Just a bit of formatting: It should probably read "Remove a learning counter from Antikythera Mechanism, remove a calculate counter from ~, : Create a colorless Logic Algorithm artifact token with " : Add for each Logic Algorithm you control."" Of course, I could be wrong, as I'm not sure we've ever had an activated ability that cost the removal of two different types of counters, but using the name of the card instead of "this permanent" is correct, the Logic Algorithms need to be called out as tokens, and capitalized, like Clue tokens. Unrelated to syntax, I like the idea of the card, but it's probably a bit too complicated if you meant for it to be at common. I'd probably just up the rarity to uncommon or rare.

Rei, the Girl who wasn't there Legendary - Spirit When you cast a white or black spell or activate the ability of a white or black permanent, if Rei isn't a creature, she becomes a creature infused with that color until your next upkeep. (If the triggering card is both colors, you choose either one.)Infuse : Flying, first strike; 2/4 Infuse : Flying, lifelink; 3/3 Because I once read this fanfic called YUTS and it stuck with me. I was really discouraged when I saw Daij's (initial?) entry because it was almost exactly what came to mind, a Leveler without level up.

My entry to this contest. Might get confusing if there are too many permanents for dice rolls or coin flips, but hopefully a good demonstration to machine learning. Attachment Deleted

Hi, I'm Collex, I've been here before, then I disappeared, then I came back, then I disappeared again. Now I'm back for a while! I'll likely mostly do contest stuff. This is last minute, but I really wanted to do something for a contest today and this one is still open, so here we go, just for fun: ( PS: I wanted to link to it from an image hosting site, as I used to do, but all the ones I knew of are now entirely behind a paywall. So I hope this new attachment thing is okay. Fixed, thanks Jartis!) (Edit 1: I wasn't happy with the mana cost, so I changed it.) (Edit 2: Found a couple of typos, fixed them.)
