Not a chance. That's what makes it a sacrifice. And it will never be your home. Not really. VIA stands motionless in front of the brazier. Then, finally, she turns to Karina.
"Karina. I can't tell you how much it pains me to ask this. But would you please return my beacon?"
"Sure?" I say, putting a bit more effort to float it closer to VIA.
Now, what did I have? Not much. My bag, my 7CI gear, Khon's sphere, probably not great tributes. Nothing the angels would like, at least.
I look down at myself. The Sunspear, the transceiver, Hyle's necklace... never. They might impress, but I wasn't giving them up. That just left...Token of Accomplishment Artifact Token of Accomplishment enters the battlefield tapped. : Choose a color from among permanents you control. Popcornia cajun Pile Offering - Agreed there's nothing green about this card. I think 2 mana is probably the correct cost, though. 8/10.VIA delicately takes the floating beacon from midair, then looks to the brazier. This is quite possibly the worst idea I've ever considered. Why don't we just give it the tokens? It's accepting Karina's.Only because she thinks they're worth something. Let's not try to cheat a god, okay? If this 'R' can read my thoughts she'll know I have no interest in serving her anyway. All these Trials were a pointless waste of time and energy. Those past lives weren't hallucinations, VIA. We can feel their magic. Their memories are so close, now. I was never meant to exist without AKH, Vi. You and those false memories are just more symptoms of my unraveling mind.So were they pointless, too? Are we going to throw away everything they worked for, doom every other world they tried to save, just to slave away for the one that betrayed and killed us?That's ENOUGH, Vi. I've already spent far too long on this rotting plane. I'm leaving. NOW. VIA snaps the beacon in half.Nothing happens.VIA slumps to the ground and stays there for an uncomfortably long time.VIA's Defeat Instant Exile target colorless spell or colorless nonland permanent. If it's a Vi planeswalker, exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.

cajun , Parasign The sphinx watches Karina give her offering, the tokens disappearing into the flames uneventfully. Her gaze turns to VIA, who seemed to be having difficulty deciding. Then she watches as they snap the beacon...and nothing happens. The sphinx smiles. "Interesting. A tribute of your last hope. I believe...she approves." The sphinx gestured to the flames, the purple fire swirling in a circle before summarily disappearing into thin air. Nested at the bottom of the brazier were two tokens, one seemingly made from a mix of all the tokens Karina had earned and offered, and another eerily similar to VIA's metallic exterior. {Response Card - Unexpected Reward} "Well done. The Godhead will see you now." Awaiting Orders: This feels like one of those common enchantments that ends up being monstrously good for some reason way way after it was printed. Or commander loves it. I know I do. 8/10Via's Defeat: Not sure that Izzet should be allowed to exile stuff it doesn't control, even if it's just artifacts or Eldrazi. I know this is meant to smack VIA in the face, but it doesn't do it in color. The bonus for hitting VIA is fine though. 4/10

I catch that one in my hand, then walk over to Via with hers and sit next to her.

Popcornia cajun Unexpected Reward: Not a huge fan of bringing an Equipment directly into play from your deck and attaching it for free, because that puts a pretty hard limit on the size of Equipment that can exist in the format. Also, what Cajun said. 5/10.VIA looks over at the girl. "Yes, Karina. Of course I'm okay. I was only ripped out of my own mind and left to die on this rotting plane, while the world I've spent countless years trying to save from my OWN MISTAKE falls apart the MOMENT I allow myself to feel THE SLIGHTEST SOUL-BLEEDING GLIMMER OF HOPE, just because THE CULMINATION OF TEN THOUSAND YEARS OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS APPARENTLY CAN'T FIX A SUNS-DAMNED TIMER."She stands up abruptly and starts to pace around the room. "And you know the worst part? It feels GOOD. I'm hallucinating as my whole life turns to ashes in front of me, again, and all I can think about is how everything LOOKS and SMELLS and the nanofluid pumping through my artificial veins and the mana pouring from my liberated spark and it feels like waking up from some horrible nightmare and stretching your cramped arms and legs and realizing you're still alive and none of it mattered and I'm FREE. And I can't even begin to describe how utterly, incomprehensibly Insane and Unnecessary that is. And I just... I just, can't..."VIA turns back to Karina and sighs. "And I'm unloading all this on a terrified prepubescent girl who has absolutely no context for anything I'm saying. Saints, what have I become? Let's just go inside and see what the hell this 'goddess' even wants from us."Brutal Honesty Instant Reveal your hand. ~ deals damage to any target equal to the number of nonland cards revealed this way.

cajun , Parasign The sphinx observed the two as they spoke, her task done for the moment it seemed. She merely watches Karina and VIA as they walk further into Rudara's domain, before standing up and returning to the entrance. The hall was spacious, with ample space for the two Planeswalkers to walk side by side. Sidling each entrance, the two were observed by guards as they ventured further within the stronghold. Wearing armor that evoked some aspects of Rudara's form, it was obvious where their loyalties were. Their journey eventually took them into a large circular room, the hall opening into the expansive center of Rudara's hold. Sitting in the center upon a raised platform was the goddess herself, her amber gaze tracking them even from this far across the room. Their approached was stopped by two guards on the perimeter surrounding the throne, spears crossed to indicate they were to go no further. Rudara gestured to them, the spears retracting as she stood up, and began her descent. "Karina Oblay. VIA. You have both struggled hard on this day to overcome the trials and yourselves. You are not the same individuals who entered by city earlier this day," she spoke, her voice even, authoritative, a familiar tone for her to speak in. To both Karina and VIA, who had met her before, the goddess seemed taller almost, her presence demanding more attention than it had in their earlier encounters. "The time has come for your just reward for conquering the trials I placed in front of you."{Response Card - Godherald} "Will you accept it?"
Karina's Assistance: Not sure how I feel about this allowing creatures to dodge exile, or a lot of effects that force you to sacrifice stuff (like Vanishing, Echo, etc). I like it though, and it seems reasonable for its cost. 7/10Brutal Honesty: Hard to make this effect consistently worth it, but I like it nonetheless. 8/10

Lady Mapi Rudara observed the notice with her usual unnerving look, before making the slightest 'hmmph.' "Disappointing, I presumed we would have preferred to speak to me again."They were a mercurial individual, from what Rudara knew, so this was not the most surprising development. He had demonstrated an ability to come and go as he pleased, she would just have to reprimand him when he inevitably returned. Onto the matter at hand though, she rolled out the diagram she had brought with her onto the table. A seemingly complicated array of parts, mechanisms, and other interesting areas of design. It seemed Rudara had taken in interest in her own constructs. {Response Card- Auspicious Diagram} Promissory Note: Hard to tell where this lies balance wise. You do get straight card advantage, while everyone else gets ramp. I can imagine a situation where the extra mana, especially late game, means nothing, but thats only in some situations. 7/10 since that 3 mana for consistent draw bugs me.

You do get straight card advantage, while everyone else gets ramp. I can imagine a situation where the extra mana, especially late game, means nothing, but thats only in some situations. 7/10 since that 3 mana for consistent draw bugs me. I peered over Rudara's shoulder (it was a bit of a challenge, doing that with someone who is half again as tall as you are... but I managed it.)
"I see you didn't retain me for an art project. Interesting."
My glass swirled over the plans, glinting their new impossible color. Some of the ink seemed to flicker - I shook my head to clear out the cobwebs.
"We're going to have to narrow that piece there. I'm not entirely sure why, but I know that otherwise it's going to grind to a halt after a few days of operation." I scratched my head. "Sorry, I've been experimenting with mana, and it seems to have done something to my perception of time." Ideation - (⁂)(⁂)Instant - Put target permanent on the bottom of its owner's library, then that player reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a card that shares a type with that permanent. Then put that card in that player's hand and put the rest of the cards on the bottom of their library in a random order.
(Tucking the golem token so that you can grab a new Artifact or Creature, of course. Check the link for the weird new mana symbols - I just bought Pink, so I'm trying to figure that out.)
Auspicious Diagram is a great upgrade to Servo Schematic - and seems like an appropriate cost for dropping a free artifact with an extra 3/3 next to it. I see no issues here. 9/10

Lady Mapi Rudara didn't respond to his sudden presence besides a quick glance in his direction. Yes, it was him. The self-confident voice, the inflection in his words. That attitude he had when something caught his interest. From what she could detect, something else had found him too. "You would be correct, if you had not noticed the adjoining piece," she lays a finger near the piece in question, hidden somewhat behind the complex mechanics in the region. "It prevents the shaft from being ground against the integral parts here, while providing the piece necessary flexibility while in use."
{Response Card - Backup Piece} "Quite ingenious. Derrin was always cunning when given the tools and a work order."....Who was Derrin? Idealation: This is officially the first color outside the 5 I'll be judging, so...here it goes! Given it's flavor, this does fit the bill of Pink nabbing red's weird chaos effects, which red shares with blue for a card like Polymorph. It's hard to judge a color I haven't seen before, so I might sound unfair and compare it to if it were it's composite colors, Red/White. I might see it as a Boros, but it would require another effect tacked on to make it more white. Here, I think it'll do. Better than the purple "exile matters" stuff. 9/10 for a good start.

Fleur Rudara tssked as the room around her began to shift, an unusual expression of her emotions. "Intriguing, but unhelpful." She places the book down, before her eyes flash as she reaches a hand out. "Return to your place," She spoke, returning the interior to its original shape and form. {Response Card - Scapesculptor} Shifting Stones: Blegh, land tokens. This is sorcery speed Harrow with upside, and could probably use its effect just fine. The latter ability is neat, I think it's fairly costed overall for a 2/2 for 4 every turn. 8/10 CARD: Weird Realmwright. I do like it though. 9/10The book is gone as quickly as it came.

Flavorful, but even with the disadvantage, this is a must play. That extra turn for drawing 2, even if it's garbage, is good. 9/10, flavorful, but I have concerns over use within an actual playable environment.

Popcornia Severed Connection is an interesting take on wheel-effects-as-mill, sort of, and the cycling works well here. 9/10.Don't anger her now, VIA. We're so close.
Why should I listen to you? She knows nothing. And it seems you know even less.VIA's metal body tenses and relaxes, as if taking a deep breath. "Yes, 'R'. I know what I must do, because when I fell from what you might call quasi-divine status I at least had the foresight to keep all the salient bits of my memory, not to mention the highlights of my culture's last ten thousand years of history. I know what I must do, because I can actually remember what it was."That, and so much more. Can't you see..."How can you see a path forward when you don't know where you've been? What context could you possibly have that justifies these trials, this city? What inexplicable force or instinct inspired all this, and how can you even begin to trust it? How can I trust you, when everything you've done is based on illegible reasoning that you refuse to explain?"VIA, no! Please..."When I deal with people, 'R', I expect them to tell me what they want. I expect them to tell me their name. I expect them to justify their actions before I nearly destroy myself three times over just to speak with them. And after I somehow talk myself into doing that anyway, I expect them to justify the time and effort I spent with something I can actually verify exists."Just... "How can I know your 'blessing' isn't a curse? How can I know it's not just some placebo magic that does nothing at all? If this is still how you negotiate, 'R', I can accept nothing you have to offer."Why won't you listen to me?Skeptic's Refusal Instant Counter target instant, sorcery, or enchantment spell. Parasign "You assume this was a negotiation, just as you assume you know everything you must know of this world." Rudara's voice shook the room as it rose, her patience had worn through, and if they were not interested in her blessing, than they would not have it. She raised one hand, slowly, the room beginning to rattle as wind began to gather from nowhere. Several of Rudara's attendant looked around fearfully, while her guards remained ever vigilant. "I do not know everything, just as you do not. But I do not pretend that what I know is enough to decide every action I take. What you lack, VIA, is faith."The wind gathered stronger now, but only VIA seemed to feel the force of it. Not a hair on Karina or Rudara was so much as lifted by the fierce wind that had taken over the room. "You wished to witness my power? Witness this." {Response Card - Expel from Sanaerti} The wind coalesced into a typhoon that surged forward at Rudara's command, striking VIA in the chest as they were pushed, no, dragged backwards into the hall. They were lifted off their feet, Rudara shrinking in the distance as they were pulled back, faster, and faster. Wait, why was she detecting aether, where was she...? VIA suddenly found themselves thrown out into a grassy, remote field, the wind releasing them and tossing them into the dirt. Looking back, there was a hole in the air, a window back to Rudara's domain, before it quickly closed, but not before something followed VIA through. Landing safely on the ground, her last token, completely unharmed. Apparently it had come loose, and Rudara had deigned VIA worthy of keeping it. Sincerity? Or mockery? Skeptic's Refusal: Same targets as Swan Song, but arguably better even if it costs 1 more since it exiles and doesn't trade for a Bird. Probably alright, since it fills Negate slots almost better. 8/10
