Scrap for Silver Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice an artifact. Draw three cards. Early Spoiling Sorcery Target opponent reveals their hand. You choose a land card from it. That player discards that card. Quagblast Instant Target creature gets -5/-0 until end of turn. Is that how you make uncommons? Time Crow Creature - Bird Flying , Discard ~: Take an extra turn after this one. 1/2 Yeah, you can discard it for an extra turn, but we both know which mode will you choose. In order: drawing three cards for two mana is probably too much, unless you have a really arcane hoop to jump through like Hatching Plans. Saccing an artifact isn't significant enough of a cost-- this could be neat at and two cards, maybe, or as a blue version of Altar's Reap. Early Spoiling is Encroach that can hit basics, which is a no-go. Wizards avoids turn 1 discard that can hit lands so that keeping a two-land hand is a valid decision. Quagblast is the fifteenth-pick Hydrosurge, but with a prohibitive mana cost and at uncommon for some reason? Broadly speaking the difference between commons and uncommons should be, "do I mind my opponent drafting four of these?" If the answer is yes, it should certainly be at common. FUNNY STORM CROW MEME. But more importantly, realize that creature recursion is way more common than instant/sorcery recursion, so this is beginning to be abused. And you can't counter the ability. This + a Palace Siege (or hell, even Undertaker) is a lock. Just a random thought: Would it be possible (Or even a good idea) to make an Artifact Instant or Artifact Sorcery? Say for instance, a smoke bomb or something like that. Literally impossible-- cards can't be a permanent type and a non-permanent type at the same time.

@voltaic-qui: HAHA VERY FUNNY MEME STORM CROW HAHA COMEDY FUNNY MEME HAHA STORM CROW MAGIC HUMOR TOP QUALITY STORM CROW MEMES 10/10 FUNNY Quagblast was meant to be -0/-5, my bad. I didn't remember Encroach, thanks! Also did you mean "begging" instead of "beginning"? Acid-Breath Kavu Creature - Kavu When ~ enters the battlefield, you may destroy target artifact. 4/2 Dormant HillLand : Add . As long as ~ is a creature, it gets +2/+2 and has trample. More GDS3-inspired stuff. This one came to me while reading Ari Nieh's writeup of his submissions:
Swarming Alarmist Creature--Sliver Soldier When this creature leaves the battlefield, create two token copies of it. 1/2
This one is straight from the 2nd Design Challenge:
Stilts Artifact--Equipment Equipped creature gets +1/+2 and has “This creature can't be blocked except by creatures with flying.” Equip

Just thought of this one, but I need help with the wording:
Pull Down the Sky Instant Pull Down the Sky deals X damage to each creature with flying and to up to any one target, where X is the number of creatures with flying on the battlefield.
oddnanref: The flavor is you're pulling the sky, and everything in it, down onto one thing, in order to crush that one thing, and everything you pulled down. Think of it like casting a giant net, then swinging than net around to pummel something.

I think what you want is "and up to any one target". Also if you want them to pick a nonflying creature you can say "up to any other one target".
It seems a little situational, but I can't find anything wrong with the card mechanics.
Narrative wise, I am not sure I understand what the card is talking about. Are you pulling the sky and making it fall on one creature?
Edit: Nice I was thinking the right thing then. I was a just a little confused. Interesting narrative, specially if you put in a set that based on some mythology.

Dawn of the Dead Sorcery (Nonexistent mana costs can't be paid.)Suspend 2 - Each player returns all creature cards from their graveyard to the battlefield. Urn of Dementia Enchantment , Sacrifice ~: Until end of turn, if an opponent would discard a card, that player discards that card at random instead. Urn of Blood Enchantment , Sacrifice ~: Until end of turn, if a source you control would deal damage to an opponent, that source deals twice that much damage instead. Urn of Fertility Enchantment , Sacrifice ~: Until end of turn, if an effect would put one or more counters on a permanent you control, it puts twice that many of those counters on that permanent instead. Urn of Trauma Enchantment , Sacrifice ~: Until end of turn, if a player would put cards from the top of their library into their graveyard, that player puts twice that much cards from the top of their library into their graveyard. Yet Another Lotus Variant Artifact , , Sacrifice ~: Add three mana in any combination of colors.

@gorgonzola
An [card]All Hallow's Eve[\card] variant. Except this one you cheat with cascade and As Foretold the turn it is cast. Maybe there is a reason why no similar cards have been printed. Looks like an alternate wincon for that cycling deck.
The urns are an interesting cycle, but where is the white urn? Most of the effects are not found on instants or sorceries and some seem to be new.
Black urn seems like the worst, giving you a more situational upside than the other ones. Though seize now just discards a card at random. Unless your set is full of discard where the opponent chooses this just makes your discard worse.
Green urn still works like a one turn doubling season, which makes it almost as good as that mantaray and that costs 5 mana in blue. Green tends to double +1/+1 counters more often than just straight doubling. Not sure how it balances out, but it will get pmanewalkers to ultimate on the turn they are cast.
Red urn is okay. I think the cost is okay too. The closest thing I could find was a CCM 3 spell. Which makes this effect fine. Most cards that double damage word it "deal double that damage".
Blue urn, never really had a straight double effect. Don't forget that there are some cards that mill half an opponent's library. Also, I am not sure but I think the way this is worded it can make mind funeral mill more than twice the lands it tries to mill or just mill two cards at a time until four lands are on the graveyard. Not sure.
The ideas are fun, and I really like them.

All of these cards you made could have been flipped to have kicker to upgrade, instead of streamline to downgrade. I think they would read much better if they did too. Alternate costs should change cards, your alternate costs just make the cards into what you would first read the card as. Ravenous Grizzly

Sorry if I sound like a Negative Nancy, just wanted to constructive! I agree. While I like the idea of casting stuff at a cheaper cost for a lessened effect, it just seems like reverse kicker. I think Evoke and Dash both did a great job at casting creatures cheaper (most of the time), so maybe look along those lines.
Maybe something like ...
Ravenous Grizzly Creature-Bear Streamline (You may cast this spell for its streamline cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield transformed.) 4/4

Timid Grizzly Creature-Bear 2/2

Only sdfkjgh could make a mechanic named "streamline" that is literally kicker but backwards and convoluted. Actually, even Zuty 's card is not ideal. There's a good reason the back face of the DFC is always stronger than the front

Just wondering what issues they could have to bring a modified version of meld for Battlebond? I mean, Partner with basically tutors your other half, and then you can both fuse the card into something else. Not necessarily a monstrosity like Brisela. Maybe it takes too much text space as well as the additional logistics due to requiring two cards to form a card? Oh, well. Maybe it is still too soon and the set did not have the right conditions for it. Pack of Ratards Creature - Rat Melds with Ratcharmed Piper When ~ enters the battlefield target opponent discard a card. Partners with Ratcharmed Piper. 1/1 Ratcharmed Piper Creature - Human Wizard , : tap target creature. If that creature is Pack of Ratards exiled it and ~, then meld them into Rat Pack Piper. Partners with Pack of Ratards. 2/2
Rat Pack Piper Creature - Rat Wizard At the beginning of each player's upkeep, they discard a card and tap a creature. When a creature becomes tapped, draw a card at the beginning of the next end step, if it dealt no damage. 3/3

Sacrifice a Plant: Target creature you control gains haste until end of turn. I do not know why you want to become renowned. Why not simply just have it gain a +1/+1 counter when it deals damage to a player? There are little to no cards that care about other renowned creatures for one exception. Which is easily replaceable with a card that cares about creatures getting +1/+1 counters on them.

Post by autumnstar00 on May 24, 2018 4:20:18 GMT
For the most part, the card wasn't necessarily a final product as much as it is the question of if that's possible. The activated ability making it not renowned means that you need to pay mana after each time it gets the counter, as a buffer keeping you from making it bigger. Of course, Charging Badger Senior isn't the best example of this, but a creature with monstrosity, for example, could have an activated ability that reverts it to non-monstrous status, meaning that the ability IS repeatable, but much more difficult to abuse.
Another use would be for a creature to have different effects like "this creature has hexproof while it isn't renowned/ monstrous." to make dynamic creatures without bringing double faced cards into the set.

Hey ya'll, can someone help me with how this would be worded? Charging Badger Senior Creature - Badger Trample Renown 1 : Charging Badger Senior is no longer renowned. 1/1 I know it's not something that was intended with the renown mechanic, but it still feels like something that should technically be possible. Technically, a card like this is possible-- Mr. Assassin Face Creature - Nekrataal Variant Echo -- Destroy a tapped creature you don't control. First strike 3/2 But you shouldn't do this, because "what if echo was an UPSIDE MECHANIC!" completely misses the point of echo. Even the stupid screwy cards in Coldsnap that tried to make cumulative upkeep good based them on costs that you could not feasibly keep up (e.g., cards in grave, lands your opponents control) or did not want to feasibly keep up ( Wall of Shards)-- and those are all still bad designs. There's a recent MaRo column where he mentions that while they could have printed a 6/6 with eternalize, doing so would be more about feeling clever than it would making a card that made sense with the mechanic. This could just as easily be Chargemaster Badger Creature - Badger Trample Whenever Chargemaster Badger deals combat damage to a player, you may pay . If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on it. 1/1 And nothing of value would be lost.
