Woot! "Close second" is my favorite!!!! (srsly, it really is) Is that because it's most of the praise of first without any of the responsibility of coming up with a challenge and remembering to judge it? Because I feel that, if so.

Well, I actually am first so let me just just go ahead and come up with a challenge... Also, thanks for first. And yes, it isn't worded well, thanks for the feedback.
Next challenge: Design a common card that brings something back from the graveyard to the battlefield.

Undead Horde Creature - Zombie When Undead Horde enters the battlefield, you may return target creature card named Undead Horde from your graveyard to the battlefield. A creature entering the battlefield as a result of this ability doesn't cause abilities to trigger. 2/2

viriss - Life Domain Cleric is a nice white card that makes good use of the party mechanic, as it can return a member of your party from the graveyard in order to get stronger and stronger members of your party out. Would be a seriously tough build-around card though, as you need: 1. party members as creatures. 2. Heroic enablers (enchantment or instant/sorcery). 3. putting your creatures into the graveyard (a la mill). Could be fun for a Johnny to build around. Daij_Djan - Moonlit Cemetery is a neat lands-from-the-grave card that might open up more (pauper) strats, along with landfall strats. It’s simple, but it’s real neat. gamma3 - Undead Horde is neat. It gives two 2/2 bodies on etb, but it needs the setup of already having an Undead Horde in the grave. Otherwise it’s a way overcosted 2/2. The not-triggering of abilities might also be an interesting thing to try to work around. Flo00 - Underworld Shackles is a cool use of the escape mechanic, which I do hope to see come back in ways like this. It might not be a relevant card in pauper honestly, but I’d totally run it in a commander deck. {Spoiler}{Winnar}Gosh darn it, why did all of you all have to make such good cards.

A common or uncommon artifact that isn't a creature, equipment, or vehicle, and doesn't tap for mana or deal damage.
I swear this started as a simple ask, but in writing it out, I see that it got out of control. Good luck.

This is probably a terrible idea, but when I realized I could make the same card fit three different contests, I had to do it.

thaneofglamis Short and sweet. I like the order of discard then mill. That would annoy people in my group a lot. =) And the cash in to wipe the graveyard is strong. Flo00 I prefer this to Glasses, and raising it to uncommon seems like a good choice. SilentKobold This reminds me of those types of cards that... oh yeah spellbombs, you put it in the name. =) I do think -1/-1 counter for 1 mana is maybe too good, but it makes for good interaction. melono I wasn't sure about the "enters tapped" but it somehow feels right. Very grind-y. Jartis I'm still on the fence about this one from the challenge slots post. I do see how useful it would be when you really really want a specific creature back and are willing to exile the rest. Flavor-wise I want this to be a snow artifact for some reason, even though it wouldn't change the card. kefke Talk about skirting the line. An artifact that "taps" other creatures possibly for mana. lol.

Sorry for the late reply! For the next challenge I'd like to see a common or uncommon non-Aura enchantment!

Fuel to the Fire Enchantment Whenever an instant or sorcery spell you control deals damage to one or more opponents, ~ deals 1 damage to all players. "Hope" fuels you to keep going? I just need fuel to keep going.

Quest for the Rot Farm Enchantment Whenever a land card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, put a quest counter on Quest for the Rot Farm. Remove three quest counters from Quest for the Rot Farm and sacrifice it: Return up to three target land cards from your graveyard to your hand. I started out for , then this ended up too much build-around, so it's now.

Not before I get an entry in Gather Reinforcements Enchantment At the beginning of your end step, if you didn't attack this turn, create a 1/1 white soldier creature token. In times of trouble hope is our greatest shield. In times of despair, it holds our greatest sword.

Geez, sorry, I completely forgot about this. Judging now.
Very nice card. It's simple and elegant, and leans into super aggressive red decks that are confident they can pump out enough burn that the recoil damage won't even matter. I only have a few nitpicks - it should probably say each player, not all players, and "Fuel for the Fire" sounds better than "to." viriss - Defense TrainingInteresting idea. It ensures you always have a blocker, and the untap effect subtly encourages you to attack so you have something to untap. On the other hand, it discourages opponents from attacking you, since that'll just make one of your creatures bigger. I think it's small enough that it won't hugely change people's gameplay decisions. Flo00 - Quest for the Rot FarmThe name implies a Golgari connection, and while the Golgari usually deal with creatures in the grave, I could see them working with lands in the graveyard too. The card itself though literally does nothing on its own, which isn't appealing unless you have a lot of land sacrifice or self mill. Most of the existing quests trigger off things that will practically always happen (creatures entering, dying, attacking, etc.). SilentKobold - Fog of WarThis works fine as a red Zephyr Charge. The name is a little weird - I don't really see how it matches the effect. The flavor text is a little awkward too. My gut is screaming at me that this should be rare, but I think that at such a high cost and only affecting one spell per turn it's probably fine... it would definitely be an MVP in any EDH tokens deck that can run it. Not sure about it, but it's very Selesnya, and the flavor text is great. More controlling decks and aristocrats like this card, as they usually prefer to wait until late-game to actually attack. In other white decks, though, not attacking can be a pretty steep price to pay for a 1/1. I think it's a solid uncommon in the right set, but it's not worth it in the wrong set. I'm a huge fan of flying synergy, and this is a nice card advantage engine that can provide nice value even on turn 2. Similar to Tide Skimmer, but potentially more valuable.

Yeah, I don't think I was particularly clear on the flavour here, I was trying to capture the essence of a sudden tactical maneuver through the fog of war with the first strike and haste. Anyways, looking forward to the next challenge, commons are always the most interesting cards to design
