Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our two-hundred and forty-forth challenge! The winners of the "The Graveyard is But a Pit Stop" poll were myself (left) and Fleur (right) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... What do Ragawan, Urami and Marit Lage in common? They are three of nine ten legendary tokens created by MtG cards – time to create some more! So your challenge is simple: Design a card creating a legendary token.Note: If you provide a render for the token, it'll obviously be included into the poll To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

functionally a legendary 2/2 sort-of-indestructible vigilance, but also meant to be ETB/death triggers for days and synergize with the highly niche sublevel of legendaries-matter as well. WB may be a tad pushed for this effect and I'll move this up to 1WB if enough people think this is imba at this cost. token left intentionally typeless because everyone gets to participate in the grisly meritocratic monarchy of carstan shol. it's a very woke nation that way. token art in armor to reflect this. card proper art kinda sucks but it was the only thing I could find that was sufficiently "kings fighting" esque, will appreciate offers of better art.

Wanna get this one in early to hopefully get some feedback on it. I know tracking all those abilities would be insane, but it's got precedence, and not just on one or two cards, either, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Did Fleur get a pretty big sweep of wins this week? Grats Nyxlis of Andina Legendary Creature - Human Assassin Kicker When Nyxlis of Andina enters the battlefield, if its kicker cost was paid, create a legendary 5/2 black Assassin creature with "this creature cannot be blocked." named Shade of Nyxlis. As long as you control a creature named Shade of Nyxlis, Nyxlis of Andina can't be blocked. Otherwise, it has deathtouch. 5/2

@ fluffydeathbringer: Big thanks for the catch! It's because I wanted to exclude Helm of the Host from the list (as its tokens are not legendary), but sadly I chose the wrong word to exclude.. Fixed it!

Aaliyah's Blessing Tribal Instant--Angel Incarnation Cast this spell only if your life total is less than your starting life total. Your life total becomes equal to your starting life total. If you gained life this way, create Aaliyah, a legendary X/X white Angel Incarnation creature token with flying, first strike, vigilance, lifelink, trample, and shroud, where X is the amount of life gained this way. Miracle (You may cast this card for its miracle cost when you draw it if it’s the first card you drew this turn.)

Tik, Sorrow's Entrusted
Legendary Creature - Jackalope Avatar Flying When ~ enters the battlefield, create Sorrow, a legendary 1/1 black Faerie creature token with flying. Tik is indestructible as long as you control a creature named Sorrow. Tik has deathtouch if you do not. 5/4 Jartis Some debatable points: would it not be simpler to give your card two abilities (with the same cost) instead of the choose one thing you've got going on now? Also, why does your card target all creatures named Magnum Opus instead of a single target called Magnum Opus? Looks weird to me. Also, looks a bit slow and heavy costing.

melono Yes, it would be easier, but I wanted the thematic element of an artificer constantly improving upon their invention, making it stronger and more versatile with each tinker. It also allows players to make a decision about which keywords are most important to them in a given game on a given turn. As for the all creatures named Magnum Opus thing, I figure there's no way to guarantee that you'll only have one with cards like Helm of the Host and Mirror Gallery, so I figured affecting all of them would be the easiest way, instead of trying to figure out wording to target the one specific token it made first.

the restriction on casting is pretty pointless considering you're only gonna want to cast the card when you have less than your starting total anyway. in addition you don't need the "if you gained life this way" since if you didn't gain life, X is just gonna be 0 anyway

Highly niche, and who would spend that much mana for one EtB/death, but there’s a case to be made especially with Miracle. I do agree in nipping the first clause though. Also shiftyhomunculus I don’t think Arise should be a keyword. It’s pretty long and specific for one, plus it sort of devalues the “cursed” part if other things can do it. It might be better to just make that your card’s ability. Also I know Eternalize and the other one which I’m blanking on the name of, but I don’t think those should’ve been keywords either, but that’s just me.

I like Arise - but that might be because I tried the exact same concept a while ago in a project that never made it beyond its initial phase.. As they say: Great minds think alike, I guess?

Attachment DeletedAosa, Eternal Guardian Legendary Creature- Angel First strike Whenever Aosa, Eternal Guardian deals combat damage to a player, you may create a legendary Aosa planeswalker token named Fragment of Aosa. It has “ : Exile target creature until this token leaves the battlefield.” Put two loyalty counters on that token. 3/2 e: starting loyalty isn't a game term q: why is this token a planeswalker a: honestly ~80% because wynaut. the other 20% is to be a useful removal tool that can be potentially removed itself while also added flexibility q: but why though a: see above but to clarify I would probably never put this in a set and am not 100% sold on entering it into this contest

Yes, it adds words, but I wanted to be completely unambiguous as to exactly how this spell is supposed to be used. If a new or seminew player opens this in limited, I don't want them to cast this when their current life total is greater or equal, for feelbads.
Sometimes, you need to precisely spell out how a card is supposed to be used, otherwise you get Intuition. MaRo said that when he made the card, he always got three different cards, and that was how he intended it to be used. However, when more Spiky players cast it, they got three copies of the same card.

Dina, the Winged Hope Legendary Creature — Angel Flying, first strike When ~ dies, create a legendary black enchantment token named Despair. It has "At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 4 life." A brilliant light suddenly snuffed leaves those who gazed upon it even blinder than those who have lived in darkness their whole lives.4/3

Proper templating of the ultimate will save you enough space so that the words don't get cut off: You get an emblem with "Creatures you control have shroud."
As to the whole card, I kinda like it. You've managed to convey mirror magic across all three abilities, which isn't the easiest thing to do.

sdfkjgh I see your point- attempting to make it easier for new players to digest. But I think the wording is simple enough without the clause. If my starting life total is 20, why would I want to cast this when my life total is 20 or 27? Also, with Intuition, that involves card tutoring, which can be vague and has multiple possibilities. Losing or gaining life is pretty obvious what to do. I could see the idea of “setting life” to be confusing- some people I play with to this day never remember that it is technically gain/loss and not an actual “setting” thing, but that wording is on the card either way you slice it. side note: Intuition not being intuitive is irony and very funny
